Haha I like the movie too, i'm with you there...this just made me laugh haha.
@Cochise the previous movies didn't have sci-fi elements. They had fantasy elements, sort of. Mostly, they dealt with religion. The artifacts dealt with religious objects or religious symbols that did supernatural things. Those fit in with religion, even the creepy Temple of Doom cult religion. Still, they all fit into the same universe. To then ALSO bring science fiction into it in a way undermines all the religious elements of the previous movies. Religion and aliens don't really mix very well, according to all the super religious people I know.
And it wasn't even the aliens that pissed me off about the movie. It was the combination of atrocious CGI, poor acting, and a boring, boring story. Also the new characters had nonsensical motivations and the return of old characters didn't make sense either.
^ actually religion theories and alien theories fit together pretty well lol. Anyways, regardless of whether they were sci-fi or fantasy they were all just as out there, crazy and believable as one another. I really don't see that big of a difference between any of them what so ever.
I liked the movie, didn't love it. I didn't like the pointless gopher stuff and the CG monkeys in the trees (though do like the vine swinging, it fits well in the Indy universe) but didn't have a problem with any of the acting or the story, I quite liked it and found it to have a bunch of entertaining and memorable moments. I don't know, I enjoyed it. Too bad you didn't.
Ohhh Kingdom had way more problems than the Aliens. The Alien aspect was not even a problem for me. It was the movie I thought was very lackluster - idiotic at many points, poorly acted, unentertaining, with terrible CGI and it lost the fun of adventure and the main character along the way.

lmao at Indianapolis John hahaha
but I still don't get the hate for Kingdom having aliens in it. The previous movies featured sci-fi and fantasy elements just as 'crazy' and it actually fit in really well with the whole timeline. I dug it.
