Watched a film called THE RED VIOLIN, I thought it was really good. Actually kinda loved it.
Never heard of it until someone told me about it. They lent it to me so I'm like alright, I'll check that shit out. Alluring story chronicling the journey of an antique violin with a mysterious red hue, how it affects certain lives over the course of its travels through time and various parts of the world. Guess you could say it's a cross-section of the violin's "life" intercut with a modern-day auction to decide the fate of this exquisite artifact. Reminded me a lot of CLOUD ATLAS in terms of narrative structure and thematic ideas, wouldn't surprise me if the Wachowski uh people were partly inspired. If ya liked that you'll probably dig this too. Overall message I take away is we have power to transcend the bounds of mortality through art, beauty & craft. Beautifully shot, terrific music score, solid performances, engaging and fascinating to behold.
