By all accounts, it's even worse than SH2 HD gameplay-wise. But yeah, the visual incongruities are of utmost concern to me. You have not to look any further than these comparison videos:

Sure, the graphics look much nicer, crisp & clear in HD but.....notice the stuff that's missing or just plain weird-looking. Not to mention the audio & music issues, out-of-synch sound FX 'n all that. And the different voice acting, at least with SH2 you could choose between the original and new ones.
If you can get your hands on a copy of the original SH3 for PS2 or PC, I'd highly recommend giving it a whirl. Far from my favorite of the series, but still a great game.
I wish I'd played this through to the end but I never owned it. Surely the HD remix can't be that broken in regards to how it plays? If it plays okay, gameplay wise, I'm not too bothered about certain lighting being off as long as the game is playable.
Actually I just read some user reviews on amazon and the game is meant to be full of glitches. :(
