Howl's Moving Castle is just as magical as its majestic color palette. And speaking of things magical, after the movie ended I turned on Conan just in time to see Alice Eve's cleave-a-riffic black dress. Now that's an enchantment.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon good movie.

grelber37
grelber37 at 05:33 AM May 21

Public Enemies was very good to our state. The project filmed all over the place, and it brought money to every community that it visited.
Major League and Mr. 3000 are baseball movies. Apparently, Milwaukee is a fine place to film such fare.

check out Alpha Dog, great movie. I also love Year One but it's a love it or hate it movie it seems, really reminded me of Monty Python goofiness. The Change-Up is a solid watch, nothing special but it's a good way to kill a couple hours and laugh a bit. I loved both #1 and #2 on your list as well man!

2012 in Real Time: Bill's Best Rants (Part II)

1. Sept 7th: "If re-elected, President Obama must appoint Bill Clinton to head the EPA... because at the DNC he cleared away an unbelievable amount of toxic bullshit. Beginning with knocking down the contention that Democrats are envious of success and sneer at the American dream of starting out with nothing and making good. No. It's not that liberals envy the rich, they just wish the rich would admit that a lot of them were just LUCKY. This is Obama's boyhood home: one room, one window. Going from that house to the White House, THAT's starting from nothing and making good!"
2. Aug 31st: "If your party can run the nation for eight years and then have a national convention and NOT invite Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Karl Rove, or Tom Delay, you're not a political movement, you're the Witness Protection Program. I'm sure Sarah Palin would have been uncomfortable at the convention - much of it was held indoors - but isn't it traditional to invite the last nominee for VP? Even if conceiving her was a mistake, aren't you morally obliged to bring her to term?"
3. Oct 19th: "…And then there's the Papa John's owner John Schnatter, who rails against Obamacare because it might raise the cost of his shit-pies fifteen cents. Really? Is there anybody in America for whom an extra fifteen cents on a pizza is a deal breaker? When I order a pizza, it's late, I'm stoned, I'm out of peanut butter...you could charge an extra fifteen dollars, I would be helpless to object! Pizza is the drunken hookup of food. You get it in a moment of weakness, and the next morning you roll over, see the box and think, 'Oh god, did I just eat Papa John last night?'"
4. Oct 5th: "So we all wind up living with this fictional picture of America - a rotting compost heap where people are eating cat food and wiping their ass with the Penny Saver - that actually would be more appropriate for the year BEFORE Obama took office. Remember 2008? Yeah, I do. That's when Lehman Brothers collapsed, and the markets froze, and they were measuring GM for a pumpkin lot. And when you opened your bank statement, you saw the drowned Japanese girl from The Ring and then you died. And yes, I *am* saying we can keep blaming Bush for that. It's the same as blaming rats for the black plague; just because you're sick of hearing historians say it doesn't mean it stopped being true." (begins at 0:38)
5. Nov 16th: "Now that he's been re-elected, President Obama must get back at all those right wing hacks who tried to paint him as an angry black man pushing a liberal agenda… by becoming an angry black man who's pushing a liberal agenda. Mr. President, there are two ways to look at your 51-to-48 percent victory. One is, we love you. The other is, we like you three percent better than Mitt Romney. And by the way, let us never speak that name again. Let it be a dark and buried memory of a close call with a creature equal parts pure evil and excellent posture, like getting dry-dumped in a crowded subway by Roger Moore."
6. Oct 12th: "Look, I know who Focus on the Family is; they're an anti-gay lobbying group disguised as a church...basically the 'God Hates Fags' guys crossed with Bain Capital. I'm not surprised they're trying to scare rubes into giving them money, that's what grifters do. But 0 for 34? Star Trek didn't get much right about the future but a few things: flips phones, bluetooth, women with green skin being hot...but now that Obama's first term is almost over and America has NOT turned into one big gay circle-jerk, you would think they would apologize. 'Sorry, Obama, we confused you with RuPaul!'"

My nominees for the Bond 24 theme

Bond
1. Muse
2. Daft Punk
3. Gotye
4. KT Tunstall
5. Amy Lee
6. Cecile Corbel
7. Sting
8. Eric Clapton
9. Roger Daltrey
10. Santana
11. Honorable Mention 1: U2 (Yeah, they wrote Goldeneye, but I want them singing one too. And I kinda think "Mysterious Ways" could have made a good Bond theme)
12. Honorable Mention 2: Adele (Something a little more bombastic than Skyfall, something that lets her really cut loose. I could totally go for her being the new Shirley Bassey of the series)

2012 in Real Time: Bill's Best Rants (Part I)

1. "This is how politics has changed. It used to be you had to run against an actual candidate. But now you just recreate him inside the bubble and run against your new fictional candidate. That's how Bush won in 2004, by running against John Kerry, a French war criminal. And I hear conservatives saying, 'Oh Bill, come on, Democrats did the same thing to Bush'…no. Say what you will about the left's hatred of Bush, at least we were hating on the real guy. We didn't invent a boogeyman who tanked the economy, took us to war on false pretenses, and tortured prisoners; that actually happened."
2. "The next time someone attacks President Obama for being unfriendly to business, one industry has to stand up and thank him as the best friend they've ever had: America's gun makers. Over the past four years, fear of a black president has made gun sales shoot through the roof...and into the apartment upstairs. There are now more guns in America than there are people, and if you laid them end to end, Ted Nugent would ejaculate until he dissolved into a pile of dust. Did you know that Walmart is selling guns again? Happy Easter, motherfucker!"
3. "We haven't lost our freedoms. I'm pretty sure the only things Obama has killed are Bin Laden and Donald Trump's last shred of dignity. If Obama were as radical as they claim, here's what he would have already done: pulled the troops out of Afghanistan, given us Medicare for all, ended the drug war, cut the defense budget in half, and turned Dick Cheney over to the Hague. Here's what Obama actually did: he cut taxes and spending. Look at this graph; these bars show the growth in federal spending for each president. Obama is at the bottom. Yes, the black man's is the shortest."
4. "If it weren't for throwing conniption fits, we wouldn't get any exercise at all. So here's a crazy idea: if you see or hear something you don't like in the media...just go on with your life. Turn the page, flip the dial, or pick up your roll of quarters and leave the booth. I find Rush Limbaugh obnoxious, but I've learned to coexist with him for twenty years by using this simple method: I DON'T LISTEN TO HIS PROGRAM. The only time I hear him is when I'm at a stop light next to a pickup truck."
5. "If a 14-year-old can deliver your message, it's not because he's gifted, it's because intellectually, you're a child. Caiden Cowger is a 14-year old conservative with his own radio show who made a splash this month for his ability to sound just like his older rivals on AM radio. It's like one of those time travel movies where Rush Limbaugh goes back in time to when he needed just ONE Oxycontin to get high. This kid's got 90% of Rush's venom with only 10% of the biomass. When 14-year-old boys can produce radio shows and books and speeches that sound exactly like yours, maybe you should rethink the shit that's coming out of your mouth."
6. "I often talk about how conservatives live in a bubble, but liberals have their bubble too. And inside it, Obama is a shoo-in because Republicans are so ridiculously out of touch. They may be out of touch with you, but not with your brother-in-law in rural Pennsylvania. He doesn't hear Rick Santorum warn that homosexuality can lead to bestiality and say, 'Why, that's absurd'; he hears Rick Santorum say that and tells his wife, 'Keep cousin Glen away from the cat!'"

Things I want in TR3N

Tr3n_logo_by_linchpin02-d3d0cix
1. Another Daft Punk soundtrack. Nuff said.
2. Explore what Quorra can do outside of the Grid. Flynn only briefly and vaguely hinted at this in Legacy, and by the end it's clear he intended for Quorra to reach the human world. The question is, now that she's there, what effect will an ISO have?
3. A return appearance by Ed Dillinger Sr. was clearly hinted at in Legacy with the appearance of Cillian Murhpy as Dillinger Jr. (and the Flynn Lives extras on the Blu-ray). Therefore a return of the MCP and an upgraded Sark as primary villains would be most welcome.
4. For a film franchise with his name on it, poor Tron doesn't exactly get a shining spotlight. But now than Tron is back in blue, what TR3N undoubtedly needs is more Bruce Boxleitner. But then again, every movie could use more Bruce Boxleitner.
5. Where does the internet play into the Tron universe? Legacy missed an opportunity in exploring how the digital world outside the Grid might look and function. For example, if the Grid is a digital metropolis, would an information switchboard resemble a massive factory? How do the programs and vehicles differ? What does the travel appartus look like? Is the idea of the User as a deity known to them, and if not, how do they react to the presence of one?
6. Flynn Lives? Maybe, maybe not. Reintegration with CLU appeared to have destroyed him, but are life and death the same on the Grid as they are to the Users? Perhaps freed of his physical confines, Flynn's essence inhabits the digital world, influencing events and opening doors for Sam and Quorra, until a possible re-resolution can occur.
7. A big, badass, explosive light cycle chase that spans an entire system. Recognizers, tanks, light jets, cycles screaming up the sides of buildings, towers toppling, light trails twisting and tangling. I'm talking "final level of Halo" kind of madness...
8. ...and that madness should spill out into the real world. If the mission of Legacy was preventing something malevolent from escaping the Grid, this time, the heroes should fail, and the new mission becomes a scramble to send it back or destroy it.
9. As much of Olivia Wilde in glowing spandex as you can reasonably and logically fit into the story.

Spirit_of_the_west_eastwood
1. "I called you 'fat fuck', and I suggest you leave it at that. Unless of course you prefer dead fat.......fuck."
2. "No man can walk out on his own story."
3. "Who honors those we love with the very life we live? Who sends monsters to kill us, and at the same time sings that we'll never die? Who teaches us what's real, and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live, and what we'll die to defend? Who chains us, and who holds the key to set us free? It's you. You have all the weapons you need. Now fight."
4. "You are an old man and a fool!"
5. "You lied to me by telling me the truth? That's good! Can I use that?"
6. "I've been at the mercy of men 'just following orders'. Never again."
7. "Production value!"
8. "I've known you my whole life! I've seen you naked! You don't think I would recognize you because I can't see your cheekbones!?"
9. "Why do the Decepticons always get the good shit!?"
10. "General Patton has said that wars are fought with weapons but are won by men. Our goal is to create the greatest army in history. But every army begins with one man. He will be the first in a new breed of super-soldier. We are going to win this war because we have the best men. And they personally will escort Adolf Hitler to the gates of Hell."
11. "Allow it!"
12. "I live, I love, I slay...and I am content."
13. "If I drive for you, you get your money. That's a guarantee. Tell me where we start, where we're going and where we're going afterwards, I give you five minutes when you get there. Anything happens in that five minutes and I'm yours, no matter what. Anything a minute either side of that and you're on your own. I don't sit in while you're running it down. I don't carry a gun. I drive."
14. "I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured, if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason."
15. "They're dangerous at both ends and...crafty in the middle. Why would I want anything with a mind of its own bobbing about between my legs?"
16. "He has a long-standing sexual relationship with his co-editor of the magazine. It ruined his marriage but not hers. He gives her cunnilingus sometimes. Not often enough, in my opinion."

The things that I post/talk about on MFC the most

Portrait-kahlanamnell
1. Art - I maeks purty pikturs.
2. Olivia Wilde - Somehow, she's going to get me arrested and/or killed. Lookin' forward to it.
3. Summer Glau - My other great Tinseltown love. If Olivia only gets me killed, Summer would probably do it herself. Lookin' forward to it.
4. That Guy With The Glasses videos - Some of these guys are better comediens than half the people on Comedy Central.
5. Wrestling - Yeah, WWE's been in decline for years now, but I'm still loyal.
6. Things that irritate me - Work-related dumbassery, DeviantArt weirdness, America's insane politic climate, and at least 96 other problems...but a bitch ain't one.
7. The Sword of Truth book series - I think it's just me and WalkAway that know anything about this, and she's only familiar with the TV series Legend of the Seeker, so I'm kind of leading a one-man party on this.
8. Random film/TV/musical quotes - Just to see who responds with the next line.
9. And of course, combining any number of the above - like the picture above combining 1, 2, and 7. Hurray for variety!

1. 12AM: Arrive in casino cage for my shift.
2. 3AM: Wonder, "Where the fuck are all these people coming from!?"
3. 4AM: Break time. Grab a soda and continue reading Terry Goodkind's Chainfire.

6. 8AM: My relief arrives. I balance, I change, I go home. Read another page or two of Chainfire on the way out.
7. 9AM: Breakfast of cereal and leftover fried dumplings. Email, Facebook, MFC.
8. 10AM-6PM: Sleep.

Real Time: Bill's Best Rants of 2011

4950
1. May 6: "Republicans are supposed to be the ones with the killer instinct. But it was a Democrat who put a bomb in Quadaffi's bedroom and a bullet in bin Laden's eye like Moe Green. Raising the question, how many Muslims does a black guy have to kill in one weekend before crackers climb down off his ass?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALV3lUA1azY
2. August 5: "We've all seen that movie where some psycho has a gun to a woman's head, and the rookie hostage negotiator is getting nowhere, so they bring in Mel Gibson, who can relate to the psycho, because he's a psycho. That's what the Democrats need, their own Mel Gibson!"
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lJXlaoAc4U
3. July 15: "When I point out that Sarah Palin is a vainglorious braggart, a liar, a whiner, a professional victim, a scold, a know-it-all, a bully who sells patriotism like a pimp, and the leader of a strange family of inbred weirdos straight out of The Hills Have Eyes, that's not sexist. I'm saying it because it's true, not because it's true of a woman."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkKS5RrePyg
4. October 21:: "Last Saturday, I was in our nation's capitol, and I had the chance to see for myself what was going on when I visited Occupy DC. Everyone was extraordinarily well-behaved, and contrary to reports, I was not offered a single marijuana cigarette. And I'm a little insulted. All right, someone did give me a magic mushroom, and it did blow my mind, and I thank you, Senator McConnell. And sorry about your eyebrows, I'm sure they'll grow back."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmusrhoEPyU
5. July 8: "Now, here's Obama's thinking, and it's a little counter-intuitive, but try to follow it. When Clinton was president, the rich paid a little more taxes and the government had money. Then Bush cut all those taxes and now we don't. I know it's hard to grasp, it involves subtracting."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6qPTwjj7bM
6. March 11: "We have this fantasy that our interests and the interests of the super-rich are the same. Like somehow the rich will eventually get so full that they'll explode, and the candy will rain down on the rest of us, like they're some kind of piñata of benevolence. But here's the thing about a piñata: it doesn't open on its own, you have to beat it with a stick."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90RzlUjE_Lo
7. June 3: "Contrary to what Republican candidates always sell, business experience does not make someone a good president. Honestly, do you really want to get in this argument with me? George Bush had business experience. There, I win! Now shut up before I mention Donald Trump, the business genius who's filed for bankruptcy more times than MC Hammer."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEHQCGuD54s
8. July 29: "Americans say they hate socialism, but when it comes to Social Security, Medicare, unemployment, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, corporate welfare, bailouts and farm subsidies, what we really say to socialism is, 'I can't quit you.'"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxzE8x2pnK4
9. January 14: "I want you teabaggers out there to understand one thing: while you idolize the Founding Fathers and dress up like them, and smell like them, I think it's pretty clear that the Founding Fathers would have hated your guts. And what's more, you would've hated them. They were everything you despise. They studied science, read Plato, hung out in Paris and thought the Bible was mostly bullshit."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQn3vBSxdZE
10. September 16: "It's going to take more than a Powerpoint presentation to convince Rick Perry that climate change is real. Rick Perry needs evidence, like a whale swallowing Jonah, or Moses parting the Red Sea. You know, facts."
Full rant here (couldn't find it on Youtube)

The Portland Wedding Adventure 2011 Highlights

Josh007
1. I got tickled by a stripper at Union Jack's. She had a bleach-blonde 80s rocker hairdo and this lovely art nouveau-ish Medusa tat on her left thigh. It was MAGICAL.
2. Voodoo Donuts. If you have never had a frosted donut covered in Mini M&Ms, you need to seek one out.
3. I drank more this weekend than any point in my life (not a drinker by nature). I think I've concluded beyond doubt that I'm just not a beer guy.
4. Experienced my first alcohol buzz. The euphoria is nice, but I'd rather I wasn't able to actually feel the earth spinning.
5. Powell's Books. A bookstore you can really get lost in (seriously, this place is a five-floor labyrinth). This trip's acquisitions: Faith of the Fallen by Terry Goodkind, Sin City: Hell & Back by Frank Miller, and M*A*S*H by Richard Hooker.
6. Rocked out "Won't Get Fooled Again" on karaoke night at Suki's Bar. Cross one more off the list of life goals...
7. Philly Cheesesteaks & Burgers at Pioneer Square. Further proof that some of the best food in the world comes out of a cart or a trailer.

Build Your Own Book Adaptation

Wizards-first-rule
1. Rules: Pick a title, name potential directors, cast the lead characters (including some brief background if you feel so inclined). Anything beyond that (score, effects, studio, etc.) is all you.
2. Title: Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind
3. Directors Wishlist:
4. Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men, Harry Potter 3)
5. Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, X-Men First Class)
6. Howard McCain (Outlander)
7. Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch, Wanted)
8. Cast:
9. Chris Hemsworth as Richard Cypher: Able-bodied woods guide turned reluctant adventurer in the wake of his father's brutal murder. Bestowed the title of "The Seeker" and the enchanted Sword of Truth, he journeys into the lands of magic to stop a madman from - you guessed it - taking over the world. (Of course!)
10. Olivia Wilde as Kahlan Amnell: Beautiful and mysterious, she crosses treacherous ground in search of salvation for her homeland. While quick to earn Richard's friendship and affections - and return them in kind - she hides from him a dangerous power that renders moot any hope of a future together.
11. John Glover as Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander: Richard's longtime friend and mentor, revealed as a powerful wizard of legend, with painful personal ties to both the heroes and villains of our tale. As Kahlan is the Seeker's guide through the unfamiliar territory of the Midlands, so too is Zedd a guide in the Sword of Truth's destructive magic.
12. Brad Pitt as Darken Rahl: Looking more the Angel of Light than the Lord of Darkness, but nonetheless a butcher, tyrant, torturer and practitioner of the blackest of black magic. On the verge of claiming power over all life and death, he needs but one artifact...and he may just have the Seeker's help in collecting it.

10 Things I want from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel

Henry-cavill-as-superman
1. The Williams theme. It's as much a part of the character as ihs powers or his costume. I don't care if it's a reboot, you can still use it. Smallville did it, so can Snyder.
2. Either Lois knows, or she finds out. I'm tired of this "will she, won't she" crap the movies kept giving us. And anyone who even breathes the words "amnesia kiss" will be subject to a Kryptonian cock punch.
3. Clark Kent can be mild-mannered without being a total bumbling doofus or a timid coward. There's secret identity, and then there's trying too hard.
4. No brooding. That's Batman's act.
5. No existential crises. We know how Supes came to be and his purpose on Earth, and he knows as well. Last thing we need from this franchise is another super-powered "Why am I doing this?" pity-party.
6. Metropolis sees at least one full city block completely demolished. I wanna see this city get proper fucked. Like, "Daily Planet building collapsing" fucked up.
7. A body count. If Superman has to learn any painful lessons, it's that he just can't save everybody.
8. A real show of superpowers. Lifting giant rocks is okay, but Supes needs to punch a fucking mountain. But he only hits it because Zod ducked.
9. The film needs to open like the first 60 seconds of Legend of the Guardians. The space shot, the sunrise and clouds, the flying studio logos...just imagine the Williams theme playing over this footage and see if you're not drooling.
10. End the film by suggesting something bigger on the horizon, but without depending upon a sequel in order to complete the story. If Zod should happen to forbode the coming of, say, Darkseid or Braniac, awesome. But don't leave a plot thread involving them that will only come full circle in a sequel that may never be made.
Nite Owl
Nite Owl at 09:28 AM May 14

Can't really argue with that, but as far as the Williams score goes, yeah its iconic and all, but so was Elfman's Batman score and Nolan didn't use that so its not a deal breaker for me if they don't use it. As far as action goes I want a full on Neo vs Smith in Revolutions style knock down, drag out brawl between Super and Zod. Minus the Kung Fu of course because its not character appropriate, Superman's a farmboy brawler not a martial artist.

Mr.Blizzo
Mr.Blizzo at 10:57 AM May 14

I really hope they use Williams' score, although I have a feeling they probably won't.

randychico
randychico at 12:16 PM May 14

I think they already mentioned the weren't going to use the score. As far as points 2-8 I couldn't agree more. Especially the brooding part and yeah if he's so powerful let it be shown! I would also like to add the less Lex Luthor the better

10 Manly Things About Me

Manly-essence
1. I brush my teeth only once a day. You don't like my bad breath, kiss my ass, the air's sweeter down there anyway.
2. You know those deep-fried candy bars they sell at the State Fair? I buy two, slide a banana split between them and top the whole thing with Cheese Whiz. Now that's good eatin'!
3. I don't walk into a room anywhere until somebody hits my entrance music. And those pyros damn well better be timed!
4. When King Leonidas declared, "Tonight we dine in hell!", he knocked on my door and asked for my chili recipe. Because any Spartan knows five-alarm is for pussies.
5. My living room has a leopard-print sofa. Made from real leopard. That I killed. By beating it to death with the nub from the hand it bit off.
6. I bitchslapped Chuck Norris. His response? "Thank you, sir, may I have another?"
7. I smash up electric guitars I don't even own. I walk into a music store, have my way with the merchandise, and the staff raises up their lighters and cheers me the fuck on.
8. Galactus? That bitch turned his ass around the moment he saw me. "You didn't tell me HE was there!" he shouted to the Silver Surfer.
9. The Half-N-Half: Chicago-style dog and a Polish sausage, all on a 12" bun. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. This beer gut don't fuel itself, y'know.
10. And if you ain't down with that, I got TWO. WORDS. FOR YA: SUCK IT!!!

I wasn't very familar with Hardy until INCEPTION, I've never seen Bronson. For me its Karl Urban, I'd kinda written him off after DOOM cause it seemed like he was gonna be stuck in that bad movie world, but he seems to be slowly building himself up. I think he'll have a breakout role sometime in the next few years that really puts him on the map.

You couldn't pay me to give a shit about...

0014_ignorance_apathy
1. Lady Gaga: Your music is an offense to my ears, your name is stupid, your wardobe makes you look like a mental ward escapee, and you're a horseface. Ke$ha, I'm talkin' to you too, bitch.
2. Name-Brand Fashion: Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, Aeropostale, fuck off, all of you. I'm a cheapskate who shops at Walmart and I'm damn proud. I'm not paying $90 for a pair for jeans unless Angelina Jolie was in them first.
3. Celebrity Rehab: Killed any puppies lately? No? Fine, snort a line, down a bottle of Jack, bang all the hookers you want, and then get back to work.
4. Celebrity Sex Tapes: Am I in them? No? Then I don't care. They only serve as further bitter reminders of how sad my social life is. And why are you recording this shit to begin with? Why revisit it except as a means of foreplay before more sex? Just have the sex!
5. Twitter: You're a glorified, stripped-down Facebook and you promote illiteracy via ridiculous, incomprehensible abbreviations of the simplest words. FOAD, PLZ. Ya follow me?
6. Reality Television: You're not reality, you're just bad fiction. You introduce to the world sub-ordinary idiots who've barely earned 60 seconds of fame and stretch it into fifteen minutes. As far as I'm concerned, there are no Real Housewives, the Jersey Shore's fallen off into the ocean, and the Survivor has died of the plague.
7. American Idol: Never mind that only one of these jacktards has maintained a steady career since the show started, let's just spotlight the exploitation of average-at-best, dime-a-dozen singers and magnify their flaws through a condescending prick of a "judge" whose own lack of noticeable talent gives him no right to appraise the talents of others.
8. The careers of Will Ferrell, Seth Rogen, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jason Segel and Russell Brand: None of you are funny, and you have all overstayed your nonexistent welcome. Comedy has died, and you helped murder it, you bastards! J'accuse!
9. Conspiracy Theories: Was there a second gunman? Is Elvis really alive and well? Did the real Paul McCartney die in '66? Was the moon landing faked? Sorry, the correct answer is BUGGER OFF. Occupy your time with something productive, you obsessive shut-in. All of these people you so heavily scrutinize changed the world for the better. What the fuck have you done lately?
10. What You Think: Yes, YOU. You know who you are. When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you.

Miyazaki Top 5 (Happy 70th Birthday!)

Spirited-away-2001-daveigh-chase-pic-4
1. Nausicäa of the Valley of the Wind - His first film with Studio Ghibli. For being 27 years old, its epic story and visuals hold up astonishingly well.
2. Spirited Away - A sensitive, sometimes frightening tale of discovering your own maturity.
3. Princess Mononoke - The film that made me aware of Miyazaki-san. One of the great stories of man-vs-nature.
4. Howl's Moving Castle - Whimsical, surreal, and romantic. A great modern fairy tale.
5. Laputa: Castle in the Sky - Proof that Miyazaki's at his best even with a mildly pedestrian script.

A.I. is definitely underrated, same with War Of The Worlds actually. Spielberg knows his Sci-fi. I can't get on board with I Am Legend though. Will Smith is fucking great in it but the whole movie is ruined for me because the CGI monsters look so awful and fake. Really, they look like video game characters.

1. The Last Airbender (5/10) - Okay, it's inept, but not end-of-the-world bad. Certainly not the worst thing released this summer, or even this year.
2. Avatar: Collector's Edition (9/10) - Looking forward to digging into the extended cut, as well as the deleted scenes and making-of material.
3. Zombieland (8/10) - Makes we wanna grab a Twinkie and prepare my Zombie Kill of the Week.
4. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (9/10) - Well for shit's sake, just look at my profile pic.
5. 25th Anniversary Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame Concerts - I actually missed this on HBO, but I figured, as a music lover, it was a required purchase.
6. Kick-Ass (7/10) - A fortunate blind buy. Chloe Moretz is a foul-mouthed darling.
7. Alien Anthology (10/10) - Rating the set itself. As for the individual films, those would be 10, 10, 8 (workprint version), and 3.
8. Persepolis (8/10) - The graphic novel is a poignant memoir, and the film translates it wonderfully. Thought it was worthy of a hi-def upgrade.
9. Sin City (8/10) - I was afraid if I didn't upgrade this to Blu-ray, Marv would do something horrible to me.
10. The Secret of Kells (9/10) - A sweet, vibrant animated fable. Like Miyazaki by way of Genndy Tartakovsky.
11. Pictured: Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl. "Shut the fuck up, fucking Stanley Tucci!"

I hate not owning Scott Pilgrim yet but I'm waiting for my employee number to get cleared so I can get it for a lower price. The wait has been getting excruciating though.

10 Things I wish were true about me.

1. Tony Jaa hears my name and cringes in pain.
2. I still have a full head of hair and do not require a weekly scalp-scraping in order to pass for human.
3. Steven Spielberg regularly refers to me as his "homey".
4. My fondness for film, comics, anime and pro wrestling made me the cool kid to be around in high school.
5. The Mile-High Club? Member and founder, baby.
6. I can adequately think of ten things to place in a list like this without having second thoughts about divulging embarassing details.
7. Stephen King checks under his bed for me before he goes to sleep.

Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me (inspired by ElderPredator and Terminal_83)

Sincityjosh
1. My family has a distant relation to Jerry Lewis and Larry Gelbart, the creator of M*A*SH.
2. My first "film crush" was Mary Jane Watson from the 90's Spider-Man cartoon. Try not to laugh too hard.
3. My first attempt at screenwriting was in middle school, when a friend and I tried to write a script for Mortal Kombat III. This is the first I've spoken of that disaster of creative writing since 1998.
4. There's a hitchhiking alien sitting on my bookshelf, wearing a digital watch, holding a towel and a sign saying "Mostly Harmless". I don't expect anyone outside of Douglas Adams fandom to get the significance of that.
5. The first midnight film premiere I attended was Batman Begins. The second was The Dark Knight. I think there might be a pattern forming.
6. Throughout college, I produced numerous paintings and drawings inspired by the likes of Sin City, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and the Man With No Name Trilogy, and spent a whole semester working on a drawing series exploring the hidden meanings of Hotel California.
7. While vacationing in Las Vegas, I had the choice of seeing a topless dance revue and seeing Spider-Man 2 at the Luxor IMAX. I chose Spider-Man. Again, try not to laugh too hard.
8. My family once watched Silence of the Lambs while eating barbecued ribs.
9. For a college project, I draw a comic strip based on a bit from comedien Christopher Titus. Titus found the art online, contacted me by email, and he now has a print of it on his wall.
10. I nearly lost the upper half of my right index finger in a Wood Shop accident in high school. My hand got in a fight with a tablesaw and lost. To this day, the finger is slightly deformed and numb to the touch. (Can't believe I forgot this one!)
11. Honorable mention: I am the walrus. Goo goo g'joob.

...no seriously where is it.

goNADSgo69

Tommy Wiseau turned back time so that way the Room was never made...

oh sorry that's a better idea than his entire shit movie altogether.
Tommy or the production studio had NC take down the review because he wasn't paying them, even though he was giving their film publicity...
