Mel Gibson makes a welcome return to acting in Edge of Darkness. Mel is more than convincing as Boston Detective Tom Craven, who is investigating the murder of his daughter. After she's shot in his arms on his front doorstep, Craven begins to wonder just who exactly his daughter was and who was her employer. Danny Huston plays the head of that company and seems a little too cold when confronted by Craven about what his daughter's role was. Ray Winestone shows up as a corporate hit-man to indirectly direct Craven to finding the truth about his daughters murder and what cover-up may be going on.
Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) does some fine directing here and his signature stamp is obvious in many scenes, especially the car chases and action sequences. The pacing is pretty standard and well-done with highs and lows, but always holding your attention. All of the acting is top-notch, especially Gibson, who I thought would just sleepwalk through this, but did quite the opposite!
My Score: 8/10

You don't have permission to complete that action.
