I definitely liked it better than Contagion. And I really liked Contagion. But the script for Side Effects was a lot better, as was most of the acting. In particular, Jude Law and Rooney Mara

@Lelek if I'm BORED by a movie there's no way I'm going to put it on my list. But there are a lot of movies that I think are great movies that just don't really manage to get into my top 10 because they're difficult to watch. Requiem for a Dream is a good example. That's a fantastic movie but it's not getting anywhere near my top 10. Perks of Being a Wallflower is another great movie that I'll probably never watch again and so it doesn't sit on the top 10. Last year it was The Artist. And then there's the placement of the movies on the list. It's not in order based on how GOOD I think they are, but on how much I liked them. Cloud Atlas is probably the worst movie in my top 10 but I really liked it so there it sits near the top

I like how you altered this list. There is a lot of sex in these listed movies. A person does not imagine that parents would want to watch such stuff. Especially, a person has a tough time imagining watching such stuff with the folks. I remember watching Bachelor Party with the parents; that experience was a bit different.

Frickin' Swedish Fish are an absolute sin. I love the damnable things, and I'm a diabetic!

As for Doritos...anyone try the new Taco Bell Dorito Taco?! This frickin' thing is another sinful food. Ridiculously good (even for Taco Bell)! I could eat 6-8 of these things. That being that, the only thing better would be a taco shell made out of a BBQ Grippo Potato Chip (and if you don't know what a Grippo is, then imagine the best BBQ chip you've eaten that is smothered with the best BBQ seasoning ever). T'would be shear Nirvana.

Until then...try the Dorito Taco and then have some Swedish Fish for dessert! Super delicious!

Random/Dorky/Embarrassing Facts About Me

1. I have never once walked into a grocery store without pretending I was a jedi.
2. I make sound effects to nearly everything I do... getting out of bed, opening a door, grabbing food from the pantry...
3. One of my favorite things to do is sing my favorite songs in an Indian accent.
4. I memorize all of the lyrics to Nickelback songs so that I can make fun of them when they come on the radio.
5. My favorite movies are movies about love.
6. I once wrote a rap song about Cookies 'n' Cream ice cream.
7. I like to shout "YOU'RE A DOG!" to random dogs in public to see their owners' reactions.
8. It's very, very difficult to piss me off. I'm kind of a pushover.
9. I can't send a text message if it doesn't have all the right punctuation.
10. I have to step over cracks in the sidewalk with my right foot. I often take too long to get places because of this habit.
11. When I go running, I don't listen to music. I listen to the JoBlo Movie Podcast or Doug Benson's "Doug Loves Movies."
12. I want to be Daniel Day-Lewis, J.K. Simmons, or Stanley Tucci.
13. I built a blanket fort as recently as last week.

@Lelek Coriolanus, Take Shelter, and War Horse are the only ones I'm not sure of. I picked Coriolanus because it's the Weinsteins and they always fucking get their way. I didn't do Harry Potter or Hugo because they're kids movies and those are rarely nominated. Didn't do Contagion or Tinker Tailor because they look like they could go either way and they're coming out in September. The rest of those movies were all on this list at some point but I had to cut it to 10 :P

The Ten Films That Shaped My Life , and turned me into the Movie Freak I Am

1. Dumbo - This is the first movie I watched when I was a kid, and I watched it, I'm told, at least a few hundred times. My favorite part was the drunk scene with the pink bubble elephants. Apparently I got off to that shit.
2. Jurassic Park - My first PG-13 movie, and holy shit did I love this. It terrified me, but the velociraptor scene in the kitchen made me love movies. Also, up until puberty, I could do a really good T-Rex roar. I can't anymore :( Also, when I saw Newman in a telephone commercial on TV, it was the first time I ever realized that when people die in movies, they don't actually die.
3. The Mummy - The first movie that ever made me close my eyes out of fear. Also, I was afraid for at least a year that something could get into my room under the crack in the door, or through the keyhole. I learned very early the power of movies.
4. Men in Black - I just thought this was the coolest movie ever when I saw it in theaters. It's the first movie I actually remember my mom taking me to, and that's a great memory. It started a long chain of movie viewings with my mom and I.
5. Liar Liar - I don't think I've ever laughed as hard at a movie as the first time I watched Liar Liar. Made me want to be a comedian.
6. Gladiator - Gladiator marks the first time I realized badass action can fit in with a great story. A simple enough story, but when I was 12, it was the greatest thing I've ever seen.
7. X-Men - The first comic book superhero movie I remember seeing. I stayed up far past my bedtime when a friend bought it for me for my birthday, and I learned how great superhero movies can be.
8. The Matrix: Reloaded - Yes, the sequel. It was the first Matrix movie I saw, and at the impressionable age of 13, it was probably the coolest thing I'd ever seen in my life.
9. American Beauty - This is the first drama/"oscar" movie I ever watched. It's also the first movie I ever watched and immediately felt something on an emotional level so deep that I thought, "I have to make films." I watched it again immediately after.
10. Fight Club - It goes without saying how awesome this movie is, but when I watched it for the first time at 16, it blew my mind. I wasn't sure exactly what I had seen, but I knew it was fucking brilliant.

My Ideal Woman

1. Funny. If she can't make me laugh, it will NEVER work.
2. Smart. She has to be extremely smart. I can't stand dumb people and I would hate to hate my woman.
3. Unpredictable. I don't want to fall into a routine where I'll be able to figure her out.
4. Faithful. Cheating is literally the worst thing you can do to me. I don't care if you beat me, it's not as bad as cheating.
5. Appreciative. If I'm going out of my way to make her feel special, I'd like her to acknowledge that fact.
6. Sweet. She should be nice to me. Caring, loving, romantic. I want to feel loved too.
7. Supportive. Support me in my goals and ideas, no matter how dumb they are. Be realistic, but optimistically too.
8. Honest. Be able to tell me anything, everything. I want to know her. Don't hold back.
9. Crazy. I don't want to be able to completely figure her out. There has to be some element of her personality that I don't and can't understand.
10. Cute. As with almost everybody else on here, I'll take cute over hot any day. "Hot" women kinda freak me out.
11. Love movies. If she doesn't like movies, it isn't going to work, even if she fits ALL of the above criteria.

MFC MEME

Tom
1. First Name (if you're cool with that)? Justin
2. Explanation of Your MFC Name? Vitaman is a comic book character I created when I was in 6th grade. He was a vitamin who was brought to life in a freak accident by a scientist trying to discover a cure for cancer. I, being the male who created Vitaman, am VitamanMan. And 8 is just my favorite number.
3. Movie Character You Can Relate With the Most? Tom from (500) Days of Summer. He's a goofy guy with a lot of ambition who reads too much into relationships and winds up getting hurt.
4. Most Hated Movie Character? Mrs. Carmody from The Mist. I hate her as a person. She's a great character, though.
5. Boo Radley? Good Guy.
6. Do You Know Any Other Schmoes IRL? Nosir. Almost met Threezy once but that fell through :(
7. How Long Have You Been On MFC? Since late 2009. I think October.
8. How Did You Hear About MFC? JoBlo Movie Podcast. They were giving away a free Trick 'r Treat DVD and I wanted it. Then later Jim Law yelled at me because I didn't have anything on my MFC page so I started becoming an active user. Now I love MFC.
9. Where Was Your Profile Pic Taken? At the radio station where I do my radio show. It's my "mid-sentence" face.
10. Favorite Animated Character? Dug from Up.
11. Favorite Robot? Wall-E
12. Favorite Dinosaur? Velociraptor (of the Spielberg variety)
13. Have You Ever Written A Screenplay? 2 and a half of them. One of them has been through about 5 drafts, the other has only been through one. I just don't know what to do with them.
14. What Movie Would You Live In If You Could? Avatar, if I got to be one of the Na'vi.
15. Ever Meet A Celebrity? Met James Marsden once.
16. Dont You Think It's Fucking Obnoxious That Those Little Shit Kids Always Try And Take Lucky's Lucky Charms? I'd be doing the same thing. Lucky Charms is delicious.
17. What Picture Are You Attaching To This? Haven't thought about it yet... We'll think of something.

Quotes I'm always quoting

1. Meester Son of a beetch... let's play some cards! -Rounders
2. What's da matter? Da CIA got you pushin' too many pencils? -Predator
3. Get to da choppaaaaaahhh!!! -Predator
4. Your BFs about to ged F'd in the B! -Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
5. Your voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus -Step Brothers
6. What's in the BOX?!? -Se7en
7. Say what you will about the tenets of national socialism, dude, at least it's an ethos. -Big Lebowski
8. We are being buried beneath the avalanch of your inadequacies! -V for Vendetta
9. How much can you know about yourself you never been in a fight? -Fight Club
10. And Here... We... GO! -Dark Knight
11. Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate... this visage, no mere vineer of vanity is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent virmin van-gaurding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition! The only verdict is vengeance, a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and voracity of which shall one day vindicate the vigilant and virtuous. Verily this viccioussuaze of verbeage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me "V."/Are you like a crazy person?/I am quite sure they will say so. -V for Vendetta
12. It's a trap! -Return of the Jedi
13. OVER THE LINE! / Mark it zero, dude. -Big Lebowski

Don't be too harsh. I liked almost half of these...
#5 and 7 really worked for me. I loved the experience I had for Alice In Wonderland...I was sober not under the influence of anything either lol

I thought RE: Afterlife was cool in 3D and the best one since the first one. Not a complete waste IMO

and Dinner For Schmucks had a few good laughs.

4,6,10 were all disappointments though.

VitamanMan8
VitamanMan8 at 05:16 AM Jan 26

I can see people having liked 7, but I thought it was extremely uneven and cliched and cheesy... see my review if you want to find out more lol. I actually own the DVD for RE: Afterlife... because as much as I'm embarrassed by it, I still get some semblance of enjoyment out of it. Generally in an Awfully Good sense.

Good list tho, I thought DEFENDOR was technically a 2009 release. There are a few movies that are on the edge, like A PROPHET...the states didnt get a chance to see it til this year, but it was nominated for best foreign language film last year...

Top 10 Things You Didn't Know About Me (because I love bandwagons)

1. My left arm contains bits of a dead old guy. I secretly hope it gives me superpowers somehow.
2. I'm a hopeless romantic. Hopeless because I haven't been lucky in love, but still believe I can be. Gonna end up doing what jekupka did. Props, by the way.
3. I've had a lot of shitty jobs, but the worst was last summer. I was a door to door salesman selling educational books. I'm currently working on a dramedic screenplay about the experience.
4. I have a very difficult time controlling my weight. In the past year, I've been as low as 170 and as high as 250. I'm currenly around 200. Let's get it back to 170 by year's end.
5. I have, since childhood, described myself by my nerdiness. I was the kid who got paid to do other kids' homework. I stayed in from recess to write superhero comic books, with the titular superhero being a living vitamin named Vitaman. As the creator of Vitaman, I am VitamanMan.
6. I would rather stay home and watch movies than go on a vacation to anywhere. There is nowhere in the world I really feel the need to visit that I can't experience through great art.
7. My family moves around a lot. Instead of being one of the kids who becomes socially awkward, I learned to make good friends quickly, and thus have people I would consider my "best friends" in five states.
8. I played MacBeth in my high school's production of Shakespeare's play. It really made me feel like I could be a successful actor if I'm willing to work hard at it. I believe you will see my face or name on a movie poster one day.
9. I got drunk for the first time by accident, in 3rd grade. I was at a christmas party and simply thought "Red Dog" was a shitty soda. There was no soda, and I was thirsty. So I had a couple. After that, I didn't drink again until college.
10. I am in a fraternity and love every minute of it.

#5 explains your moniker, which sounds really cool. Have you posted any of your work? As for #2, I was just like you, and it eventually happened. You're young, and you have plenty of time until it happens, and it definitely will! :-)
And, finally, #6 makes complete sense after reading #7. You've, technically, have already traveled some.
Good list, man. Thanks for sharing.

VitamanMan8
VitamanMan8 at 02:21 PM Aug 12

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that MFC people would agree with me on #6. I just always thought I was alone in that sentiment.

And I figured everyone would be curious where my name came from. Vitaman is as much a part of me as I am.

Non-Stoner Characters I'd Love to Smoke a Bowl With

Hsolo
1. Han Solo - Star Wars (He just seems like a cool dude who'd probably be willing to try it. I don't think Marijuana exists in a galaxy far far away)
2. Bruce Wayne - Batman Begins/Dark Knight (Maybe he'd come up with a better Batman voice)
3. Jack Torrance - The Shining (Dude just needs to chill out)
4. Allen Gamble - The Other Guys (I just want to meet Gator, basically)
5. Yoda - Star Wars (can you imagine the "wisdom" he'd be spouting if he were stoned?)
6. Alvy Singer - Annie Hall (a neurotic person stoned just seems like it would go over well)
7. Dom Cobb - Inception (the only catch is I'd want to be inside one of our dreams first. Stoned shared dreaming would be nuts. I bet my subconscious would be pretty relaxed about it, too)
8. Rorschach - Watchmen (Conspiracy theorists/psychopaths are fun. I bet they're also hilarious if you're high)
9. Ace Ventura - Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (I just want to know what would happen)
10. Captain Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Caribbean (Need I say more?)
