Review:

Dogtooth and The Lobster are great movies. Yorgos Lanthimos is a talented director that can make a solid flick. Lanthimos is back and The Killing of a Sacred Deer is a solid film with many positives and a few negatives.

The movie has some solid acting from the cast. Alicia Silverstone was actually pretty decent in the short time she had. Colin Ferrel, Nicole Kidman and Barry Keoghan gave some solid performances. The two kids in the movies did pretty good too.

The movie is quite surreal, like The Lobster. It can be quite dark, like Dogtooth. You can tell it is a Lanthimos film just based on the dialogue and interactions between characters. It's kind of hard to explain.

The movie is a slow burner and it takes its time. It has some weird moments, it has some awkward moments and it did make me laugh a couple times. It is also disturbing at times and one scene was really fucking dark, but also pulse pumping and I just couldn't look away.

There were a few issues, but nothing that distracted me from the film. I thought of it once and then moved on. This happened a couple times.

Overall, I was satisfied. Good directing, solid acting and shot pretty well. I thought if was pretty great and if this is playing near you, then go see it. It might not be your cup of tea, but it is best that you experience this yourself.
