After a 12 months recuperating & on leave after a particularly bad undercover operation Tellis (Patric) is given the chance to regain some stature & return to work at a desk; away from the violent street work he had become all to comfortable with. After an argument with his wife, who tries emotional blackmail on Tellis by reiterating the fact that he is now a father and does not need to act like a dare-devil under cover cop any more. He takes the 'Cold Case' as a road to a desk and a pay hike; in the early part of the film we see Tellis reading the ageing files on the dead cop, an under cover detective who was killed in the line of duty if the files are to be believed. But because Tellis was also in a similar line of work Michael Calvess (Alan Van Sprang) was in. but fell too deep and too hard. The more Tellis digs the worse it looks. He is partnered up with Lieutenant Henry Oak (Liotta), who believes everything the young dead cop Calvess did was by the book, however Oak has an extremely violent temperament and as Tellis digs more & more, and they eventually hits the streets to question suspects something does not seem right.
A fast paced and well shot action film (with a bit of depth to it) I'll bet it bombed in the U.S.A. with the majority of audiences because there was no rubbing your nose into subtle clues. All in all a clever movie with a twist
