Revealing Horror Moments They Should Have Left In The Dark ( no particular order , they're ALL DUMB ) SPOILERS ABOUND !! SPOILERS ABOUND !!

I was talking to Gonadsgo about the supernatural vibe of Rec 2. It jumped the shark for me when it started with the whole different planes of reality revealed only through looking through the night vision on the camera!
#2, 6, 7 I strongly agree with you. These creative moves royally undercut their franchises. You post the truth! Black Christmas is the worst example. Billy has his power over the sisters and the audience because he is the unknown.
#1, 4, 8 I have to disagree a bit. These moves worked for me. For example, The Village was just very Twilight Zone. It had a big surprise, and that suprise commented upon our current culture. As for Zombie's Halloween, Michael is a sociopath even in Carpenter's films. Zombie examined this mindset further. Furthermore, many real-life serial killers come from abusive backgrounds. The documentary TV show Most Evil discusses the three factors that most serial killers have: childhood mental illness, childhood abuse, and brain injury. Most likely, Rob Zombie knows his serial killer pathology pretty well. Perhaps, he included it in his films.
With #3, 5, 9, 10, I agree. Granted, Friday the 13th had to keep experimenting to keep the franchise alive. However, not every new approach is a winner, and Part 9 does not have a winning concept. Similarly, Jaws does not have a winning premise. Spielberg's original is scary because Jaws is really out there in the waters around us. Jaws might not be a great white shark, but we humans are not too well-adapted to water. And, the water could contain anything from a giant catfish to a startled muskrat to a water mocassin to a jellyfish. Just watch River Monsters. Jaws: The Revenge might commit technically the pathetic fallacy. But, it takes the realistic movie monster and makes it into something unrealistically human.
Thanks for the list. Obviously, the list is rich for discussion.
"who ISN'T the bastard son of 1000 maniacs ??" haha. Great stuff Timmy... I actually liked the reveal in The Village, everything else I agree with, especially Rec 2 as you've might of heard :p that's primarily the reason why I didn't like it
@grelber37 , My Man !! I love '' RIVER MONSTERS '' !! I can understand your point (and the Great MR. ZOMBIE ) about Meyers background , but I felt THE SHAPE was far more frightening when he was virtually an unknown entity . Even after '81's '' HALLOWEEN II '' , when Michael's beef with Ms. Strode was revealed , we were still unsure of his motivation . He was simply a relentless , terrifying , killing machine , that no one could nail down . JUST SAYIN' !!
@Anakin , I did dig the flick , and I agree with the ' NIGHT VISION ' angle , I'm just not sure where they're going to go next . I sincerely hope the series , which has impressed me so far , keeps crankin' out the chills , and doesn't get bogged down by too many ideas .

I agree with this list
