'' WORST RE-MAKE EVER !! # 1 in a series '' CHILDREN OF THE CORN ''

While the Original version of Stephen King's Classic Short Story wasn't a Masterpiece , Fritz Kiersch's 1984 version was at worst entertaining . Solid , if not spectacular(definitely not) , work from Linda Hamilton , Peter Berg , and Courtney Gains , as well as John Franklin as Child Prophet Isaac , and some moments of genuine tension , all made for a fun time .
Unfortunately , some pea brain in Hollywood decided that a re-make , for Cable TV no less , was in order , and thus we now have this steaming pile of waste .
Director Donald Borchers has put together an absolute waste of Film , that even the most die-hard King or Genre fan would have difficulty getting through . The couple have taken the abrasive relationship central to the story , to new heights of un-likability , and have ruined any chance for sympathy 10 minutes in . Neither is remotely appealing , and their constant bickering serves as alcohol to our already raw nerves , making this painful to watch .
The Children , who were ominous and unsettling in the first go-round , are led by a couple of former Disney Channel rejects , and would probably be bullied by Smurfs . You keep waiting for them to break into a song and dance routine , and they couldn't scare a newborn .
While I'm not a BIG fan of re-do's , I must admit that several are outstanding , such as '' THE RING '' , '' TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE '' , '' LET ME IN '' , and '' THE HILLS HAVE EYES '' . '' CHILDREN OF THE CORN '' is NOT one of those films .
Avoid this flick like the plague .

I think the biggest problem with the original is that it started off with such a big bang that there was no way they could follow something like that up
