It disgusts me how some hip-hop glorifies rape.

Angry-thumbs-down-smiley

Song lyrics:

"Put Molly (Ecstasy) all in her champagne, she ain't even know it. I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain't even know it." - Rick Ross "U.O.E.N.O.”

"See me I'm all up on your bitch means I'mma rape her. All I got for these hoes is dick, duct tape and a stapler." -- Lloyd Banks featuring Akon and Eminem - "Celebrity"

"Tryin' to send the bitch back to her maker/And if you got a daughter older then 15, I'mma rape her"- DMX - "X Is Coming"

Really guys? Fucking idiots.

I agree. Being an obsessive hip hop fan, these guys frustrate me because even if its not meant to be taken literally, it is. And it is too far, even for rap lyrics. 99% of rappers don't rap about rape, but that 1 percent gives the genre a black eye

Rant about married dudes I know.

Happywife

Things I hear from dudes around me who are married (things they should keep in-house btw, not sure why you're sharing this with other dudes, have some fucking pride):

"My wife is always right"
"Happy wife, happy life"
"Let me ask my wife if I'm allowed to -fill in the blank-".
"Sorry I can't, my wife won't let me".

Not sure what happens to "men" after they say "I do" these days, but if I ever get married and start spewing drivel like that, I give my close friends the permission to beat THE EVER LIVING SHIT out of me with aluminum baseball bats.

Am done.

It is quite pathetic. I have seem a lot of men, with wives and girlfriends like that. I don't see either the appeal of having a relationship with a man that cannot stand by himself.

Funny! lol It's not just men though. I know a lot of women that practically obey their ambitious-less dumb ass boyfriends or husbands. It's just sad how a lot of people in general let relationships define their misery and yet do nothing about it because they rather the company.

The Billy Trigger shoot is around the corner! Inner thoughts…

Aaandy-1

The clock is ticking down, almost there, we start shooting BILLY TRIGGER in a bit more than a week. This is an exciting time for me for many reasons. First, it’s a script I’ve been trying to get off the ground for 5 years, so am pretty stoked to see it finally come to life. Moreover it’s the most ambitious role I’ve ever tackled on a physical standpoint.

Been training hard the past months, not to bulk up or even look ripped (although am getting there on the latter), but to build endurance which I will need big time for this particular shoot. I feel ready. I’ve been taking the rust off my kicks (am green belt Taekwondo, but that was along time ago), my upper body skills are well greased (went back to boxing this year, so all good ) and am learning new things in fight rehearsals (MMA type of fighting). Oh and am finally off book in terms of my lines. Bases = covered.

I say this all the time, I’ll say it again here. Making a film is the equivalent of going to war. You got a first in command, his right hand man and his soldiers. All with one singular goal in common; to take down the fort. But making a film with a low budget, especially one like this one; that is filled with action scenes and has a lot of locations; is the equivalent of going to war with popguns. It will be a challenge but I feel well surrounded and am counting down the days till we charge, can’t look back and will fight till it’s in the can. Godspeed Billy Trigger team! Let’s do this!

NOTE TO SELF: Stock up on painkillers, ice packs, Red Bull and protein bars, I will need them.

My basic training routine and diet for Billy Trigger!

373441_334239423333026_1637921831_n

With BILLY TRIGGER now in pre-production and with production around the corner, I got little time to get in the shape I wanna be in for the film. Luckily for me, I am at the moment in pretty good shape. I just want to gain a bit more mass (specially the arms) and definition (damn abs). I also want to build up my cardio and gain further flexibility/range as to my kicks.

So here's an overview of what I'll be doing to get in even better shape for the role. I have 3 different exercises per body parts. 4 sets an exercise. 8 to 10 reps each. NOTE: Am not counting the gun range visits and fight choreography rehearsals that will eventually surface. This is just my basic weekly routine.

DIET: I made it simple. Cut all carbs. Eat 6 small meals a day. All protein and veggies based. I will have half a grapefruit and a handful of blueberries every morning though (they help flatten the stomach).

TRAINING:

MONDAY:
Boxing with trainer
Weight training: Chest, back and abs.

TUESDAY:
Morning:
Kick training (focus pads, heavy bag, pool)
Afternoon
Weight training: Shoulders, biceps, triceps and abs.

WEDNESDAY:
Boxing with trainer.
Weight training: Abs and legs.

THURSDAY:
Morning
Kick training (focus pads, heavy bag, pool)
Afternoon
Weight training: Chest, back and abs.

FRIDAY:
Boxing with trainer
Weight training: Shoulders, biceps, triceps and abs.

SATURDAY: Work on what needs work.

SUNDAY: RECOUP DAY

This is training for a movie. Usually I just train every two days on top of boxing 3 times a week.

Train an hour every two days (skip the weekend) - no need for it to be a full time job. Also dieting is 80% of the work IMO of course.

Meeting Jean Claude Van Damme.

Jc1

Growing up; there were four action stars that inspired me. In order: Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren. They are the reason I got into fitness, got into fighting (Boxing, then Tae Kwon Do and am now back to Boxing) and of course the film industry. I had lunch with Schwarzenegger early this year (when I covered the set of THE LAST STAND ) and that was an honor in itself. But meeting JEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME was an even bigger deal for me. Before I get into that; let me share with ya my brushes with Van Damme over the years.

-When WAKE OF DEATH was to be shot in Montreal, Canada; I was cast as a Russian henchman that was to get his ass whooped by Van Damme. Man was I excited! This was it! A dream come true! Fighting Van Damme onscreen. But alas, something went wrong, director Ringo Lam left the show and the production moved to Europe and wound up being directed by producer Philippe Martinez. To say I was bummed about that would be an understatement.

-One year at the Cannes film festival, my friend’s sister was interviewing Van Damme and he invited me to the event. Sure, it wasn’t acting in a film with the man, but better that than nothing I thought. Sadly, my cell phone company cut my line with no warning and no reason (fuck you Rogers) before I could get the location of the interview. So I missed out. Again.

-I was in a club in Cannes for Van Damme’s birthday party. I saw him here and saw him there and that was it. The most memorable thing from that night was: 60$ for a Rum and Coke. Ouch!

So when I learned that Van Damme was once again in Montreal to push The Expendables 2; I couldn’t pass it up. So with some help (Thanks Big B!), I nabbed a one on one interview with the guy. I had my questions ready (I know Van Damme’s career like the back of my hand) and was eager to finally shake the hand of one of the individuals who inspired me so much growing up. First thing Van Damme told me when I walked in was “You’re in good shape, are you a fighter?” I told him yes. He asked “MMA?” I said no and told him I had done Tae Kwon Do and was still boxing today – and that was that on that. Dude connected with me and off he went! I didn’t get to ask JC one of my questions as what was supposed to be a 6 minute interview, became a engrossing 40 minute conversation (much to dismay of the people waiting to see him after me). I loved every second of it. So yeah, it was pretty surreal for me and I came out of there happy as a pig in shit.

This meeting was perfect timing for me. Being that we are presently in pre-production for my action film BILLY TRIGGER (one that I wrote, will star in and am co producing), meeting Jean Claude Van Damme could not have happened at a better time. I now feel even more jazzed than I already was. So thank you Alliance and thank you Mr. Van Damme! One childhood dream – off the list. Off to the next one! You don’t get if you don’t try, try and keep trying, till you get… or die trying…:)

PS: Look for the conversation to go live on JoBlo.com.

My action script Trigger enters pre-production!

Triggermasssin

Funny how shit goes. TRIGGER is an action script that I wrote in 2008, and I’ve been trying to get it off the ground ever since. Close call here, close call there, maybe shoot it here, maybe shoot it there, no dice. But last night, all the stars aligned and it locked and now we’re hitting the ground running. Yup TRIGGER has its financing in place and will be entering production this October. I will play the lead of Billy Trigger. Berge Garabedian (yup JoBlo!), Christian Viel and myself are producing. Here’s the film’s synopsis:

Irish mobster Billy Trigger has been the O’ Brien family’s number one enforcer for three years now. And for good reasons; he is cold, calculated and relentless and has never tackled a job he couldn’t finish. His life is trouble-free and solitary as it mainly consists of: loose women, doing the work and cashing in. That’s until Pops, the head of the organization, hands him his next assignment.Trigger is tasked to look over Pops young mistress, Catherine, while he’s away. Of course, nothing goes as planned and Trigger ends up on the wrong side of Pops esteem… What happens when the best in the business is pitted against the business? Place your bets!

As the Joker said: “Here…we… go!” Expect more news sooner than later! Like our FB Page here: https://www.facebook.com/BillyTrigger

American Muscle screenwriting/acting journal!

Musclez

See piece with pics here
http://www.john-fallon.com/?p=1971

When I was approached by the fine gents at Snowfort Pictures to pen an action driven revenge flick called AMERICAN MUSCLE; I jumped at the chance. Vengeance is a theme that always stimulates me (as seen in my low budget flick Deaden) and macho, low budget Cannon like films are my cup of blood on any day. My script opens with this quote: “Barbarianism is the natural state of mankind. Civilization is unnatural. It is the whim of circumstance. And barbarianism must ultimately triumph” ― Robert E. Howard. Don’t know if they’ll keep that in the film but that was pretty much the M.O. I ran with in terms of this particular screenplay.

Shacked up in a dingy apartment in Paris (on my off days while acting in Dead Shadows) and armed with countless bottles of wine, the Drive and Faster soundtracks and packs of Malboro Light, I dived into the world of AMERICAN MUSCLE and the result was definitely the most violent and sexually deviant thing I had ever written. And just like with every gig, be it acting or screenwriting, I learned a lot on this show and am a better man for it. Allow me to share. On a script level, I learned about writing by committee with this one. Now I’ve written for other people before. RECON 2022 and RECON 2023 are perfect examples of me writing to serve another’s vision. Thing was with those scripts, I was only serving one person’s vision. With AMERICAN MUSCLE it went down differently. And I am not saying this as a bad thing; it just did. The producers had a vision. So I tried to serve them while doing my own thing. Once they hired a director (Mr. Ravi Dhar ); he also had a vision, which was different from the original vision, more ethereal as opposed to the guttural vibe I was going for. So I tried to serve his take on it as well and succeeded and failed to varied degrees.

Once on set; the actors had input and brought a lot of themselves to the roles and the dialogue while director Dhar was big on improvisation, so yeah a lot changed but… the essence was the same. So that was a first for me; although all films are a collaborative creative process; AMERICAN MUSCLE took that even further in terms of what I had experienced thus far, the nature of the show was one inviting, being open to and accepting the cast/crew creative input. So basically my script became a body that many added further flesh to. The result? Somehow; even though coming from different places and having different ideas, we all wound up on the same page; a group synergy if you will and for the most part this was one of the smoother shoots I’ve ever been on. Who knew? Props to producer Travis Stevens for promoting that kind of environment but also for having a firm grasp on it. With him at the helm, the ship sailed smoothly and got to its destination (shitty analogy I know but hey, all I got).

I also so got a kick out of seeing actors Nick Principe (of Laid to Rest fame), Robin Sydney and Todd Farmer (yes THAT Todd Farmer) bring the lead characters of John, Darling and Sam to life. Nick nailed the John Falcon I had in mind (which I kind based on Conan out of the Dark Horse comics) but made him more vulnerable, Robin Sydney brought added nuances to her role of Darling and funnily enough, when I wrote Sam, he would speak with a Southern accent in my head (or out-loud, yes I speak my dialogue out-loud when I write it sometimes, helps keep it real). So when they cast Todd Farmer, I was delighted to see that the dude had that twang in his speech. A pleasant coincidence. All that to say you spend endless hours cooped up in a room inventing characters and situations with only wine and smokes as your companions. And that in itself is rewarding. But another plus is when you get on set and see other artists take what you created, lift it off the page and put in the real (fake movie) world. It’s a fucking trip!

Now when I was offered the script job, I negotiated a part for myself in the film. So yup, I play one of the main villains. His name is Tongues, he’s a mute, he kicks ass and f*ck dames. A simple man. You see what I did there? Wrote myself the funnest role. I had no line of dialogue, I nailed broads and threw down; a dream role if you will (in my world anyway). And for the most part that’s how it went down on set. To say I had a blast going mano et mano with Nick Principe would be an understatement. Funnily enough, I wrote lots of kicks for my character in the script, cause I wanted to showcase what I got onscreen. Never got the chance in other films. But when I met Nick Principe, the mofo stood at like 6 feet 7 tall and I had to crescent kick him in the face (I’m 6 feet tall). Did I pull it off? Yes. How? I basically stretched all day, leading up to our fight scene. Am looking forward in seeing the fist to cuff onscreen. Hope it came out good.

The threesome sex scene (with me and two chicks) didn’t wind up being as amusing as I thought it would be. I had done a sex scene before (in Deaden) and it had went smoothly. It was us “making love” though, slow and sensual. Here it was a wam-bam, all animal lust, no love, thank you Mam. It was me doggy-styling some lass, while she’s making out with another lass and although on paper it sounded like a hoot and a nanny; it wasn’t. Nope, simulating nailing some broad from behind when you have a sock over your dick, Todd Farmer looking at your balls flapping in the wind and two cameras up your ass is just not as thrilling as you think it would be. You learn something new everyday :) Finally I’m a very physical person and adore doing stunts, AMERICAN MUSCLE gave me my fill of that and then some. When not playing Tongues, I would often slip on a mask and play “cannon fodder” characters. Falls, getting my head bashed into walls, getting kneed in the stomach, whacked in the face = fun shite!

Looking back at the AMERICAN MUSCLE experience I have a lot of fond memories. I mean we all lived in a house (which also acted as one of the sets) in the Joshua Tree desert together (which BTW became its own character in the film, the desert was a genius choice of location, it really added to the story and production value of the movie), so we all became a big family (as on most sets). We all worked together but we also partied together after a hard day/night of shooting. It kind of became a grown up summer camp. Good times! I met solid people too! Producers Michael Lurie and Jeffrey Giles were class acts all around, you could not ask for a better AD than Joshua Lou Friedman, second AD Buz Danger Wallick was always a blast to have around and I had fun busting makeup girl Laura Raczka virtual balls (affectionately of course). I also had this hill I would try to hike up and down everyday to keep in some kind of shape for the shoot. I loved that hill. I miss that hill. That hill and I were tight! Being on top, taking in the vast mountain scenery before me, watching the hawks coast the wind while ducking rattlesnakes was one of my favorite places to be. Moreover I found it fascinating that the world of the film started to seep into our reality the more the shoot clocked forward. Lets just say that “some” of the desert locals were, um, unique to say the least; and that made the experience all that more exciting… and weird.

AMERICAN MUSCLE is presently in Post Production and I’m jazzed to see the finished product. The feel it emanated on set was DEATH WISH if directed by DAVID LYNCH… yup, totally out there and taking into account the story, not what you’d expect from a film of this ilk! All in all AMERICAN MUSCLE was a wonderful experience. Fulfilling creatively, a blast to be part of, a learning experience and a thrilling adventure. Can’t wait for this puppy to come out!

How I almost fought Van Damme!

0367478

I almost fought Jean Claude Van Damme once. His film WAKE OF DEATH was to be shot in my home town of Montreal, Canada. I auditioned for a Russian goon role, yes the baddies were Russian at the time, (I even grew a mammoth beard for the audition, shaved head, beard, spelled Russian to me :). Got a call back, they asked me to show off my fighting moves, I did, nailed it, they told me I got the role. I was gonna fight Van Damme and I was BEYOND thrilled. Me versus Van Damme. WOW! A dream come true. After that, JC and director Ringo Lam got in some kind of conflict, Lam left the show, the flick moved from MTL to some foreign country, Producer Philippe Martinez (great man, I like the dude) stepped in as director and that was that on that.

For me, it was a tough turn of events to digest. I grew up on Van Damme movies and I was beyond elated to get a chance to fight him (and die at his hands) onscreen. My buds actually threw a party for me when I got the role, cause they knew how much it meant to me. So yeah, when it tanked, I was crushed. That was one of many negative experiences that wised me up as to the film industry; in short, it ain't done till its done. Even if you're on set and hear ACTION, shit can still go wrong and nip it in the bud. And I have remembered that lesson ever since.

With that, Van Damme is still alive and kicking today, I still have a shot at taking him down or getting bitch slapped Ike Turner style by him! Either way works for me! So am still holding on to that dream. Am done! For now...

How Arrow in the head came to be!

Dead Shadows at the 2012 Cannes Film festival!

Dftdfg

David Cholewa’s DEAD SHADOWS will be screening at this years CANNES FILM FESTIVAL and here are the deets: It will play at ARCADES 2 on 18/05/2012 at 20:30. And at the PALAIS K on 21/05/2012 at 18:00.

Now I was slated to be at Cannes to support the film but alas, it looks like I will be acting in another movie at the time, so I may not make it. Out of my hands, am waiting see how the chips fall.

DEAD SHADOWS stars Fabian Wolfrom, Blandine Marmigère, badass Rurik Sallé and myself and here’s what it’s about: A young man, named Chris (Wolfrom), whose parents were brutally killed 11 years ago, on the same day that Halley’s comet could be seen from earth. Tonight, a new comet is appearing and everyone in his building are getting ready for a party to celebrate the event. There’s even an apocalypse theory going around. As the night falls, Chris discovers that people are starting to act strange – and it seems to somehow be connected to the comet. They are becoming disoriented and violent and it doesn’t take long before they begin to mutate into something far beyond this world. In a fight for survival, Chris tries to escape from his building with the help of a gun taunting tenant named John (Fallon) – but will they make it out alive?

Make your own Big Mac!

186703351_46b73d8090_z

Sauce

1/4 cup Miracle Whip
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons french salad dressing
1/2 tablespoon sweet relish
2 teaspooons dill pickle relish
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon dried, minced onion
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon ketchup
1/8 teaspoon salt

The Rest

1 regular sized sesame seed bun
1 regular sized plain bun
2 beef patties (2 ounces each flattened to bun size)
2 tablespoons Big Mac sauce
2 teaspoons reconstituted onions
1 slice real American cheese
2 hamburger pickle slices
1/4 cup shredded lettuce

To make the sauce, mix together all the ingredients about one hour before using.

To assemble:

Discard the crown half of the regular bun, retaining the heel. Toast both sides of the heel and the “inner” sides of the sesame bun. Cook the two-all-beef-patties just like regular burgers. After the bun parts are toasted, put 1 tablespoon of sauce on each of the heels (toasted side). Then add 1/8 cup shredded lettuce to each. On the true bottom bun, place one thin slice of American cheese on top of the lettuce. On the extra “heel”, the middle bun, place two pickle slices on top of the lettuce. When the meat patties are done, place them one at a time on both prepared buns. Stack the middle bun on top of the bottom bun, and put the crown on top.

Dead Shadows pre prod done today, here we fucking go!

Dsblog2t

Today is the last day of pre-prod on DEAD SHADOWS (French film I’m acting in and pitching in as to the action scenes) so I figured I’d punch in and write some shit down. Monday the battle begins as we enter production. How do I feel? Confident. There’s a solid team behind this flick, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes and it has all the ingredients to be a stand out film, starting with a sturdy screenplay as its base, sweet practical effects, a great visual effect house backing it up and a production/creative team who are willing and able to fight.

How has Paris been to me? Pretty good. Although I’ve been to Cannes countless times in the past; I had never been to Paris; so far the bad rap I heard from some peeps is undeserved from my point of view. People have been nice, haven’t gotten in a fight and bar employees are also pretty money (they were dicks in Cannes though, should be spat). Am feeling very comfortable here, somewhat at home. Am used to it now. Haven’t had time to play tourist much (did see The Louvre and drive by the Eiffel Tower like everyday). NOTE: They drive like New Yorkers down here…yowzer!

My days have been long, in the sense that since I got here, I’ve been hustling all day and then coming back to my pad (in Bastille) to work the site and work a script I have been commissioned to write. Haven’t been sleeping much. Physically, the training kind of slowed down here for obvious reasons – no time. I lost some weight which I am not happy about (wanted to be bigger for the role), and if I go by past productions, I will lose some more as we run on adrenaline throughout the shoot. What can you do. I have lots of night shoots too… makeup girls don’t fail me now!

In terms of my role, I am prepared, I know my lines, got my beard in place (itchy), am handling the French dialogue well (got a couple of tongue twisting bits though), I know my key fight choreography (which I designed and am handling on set), so I am ready. Am also bringing boxing gloves and focus pads on set to loosen in between takes and got the Conan score (Crom!) and some Metallica on my IPod to keep me in the “proper” mood. Yeah my character is no Florist. All good. Jumping into a movie is always exciting, nerve wracking to some, but not for me. It’s just exciting. Yes, obstacles will be tossed our way, left, right and center, but I think that the Dead Shadows team is ready for them. So yup, Monday is Judgment day, lets make a fucking movie! A L’ATTAQUE!

PS: I know the Habs are starting their Season soon. Tried to watch the pre season games online…no dice! Grrr.

PPS: They have ice rinks here (although ice skating is not considered masculine here, just like In Spain… cracks me up, lets toss ya on the ice with a hockey stick, tell me its not masculine as you kiss the boards :) Must get on skates and keep my skills up. Once back home, it’s back on the ice I go!

PPPS: Am almost out of Conan comic books to read... must find more, am addicted...

PPPPS: I can think of worse ways to spend my days than slicing and gunning down mutants. Sometimes I love my life; this is one of them times. Will try to keep yall in the loop as we clock forward. Peace out!

The Arrow’s Manly Man “will fuck you up” Cowboy beans.

Yeehaw2

Ingredients:

-2 cups of dried pinto beans
-2 Tbsp of vegetable oil
-1 yellow onion, chopped up crudely
-5 sliced up garlic cloves, chopped up crudely. This is a man's dish. Nothing fancy.
-Get a fuck load of Ham chunks and I mean chunks!
-2 cups of water
-2 cups of black coffee
-1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce
-1/4 cup hot peppers/jalapeños
-1 Tbsp of salt

How To:

Toss the beans in a big pot. Add water so they’re submerged by an inch. Boil that shit and simmer for 25 minutes. Then drain em.
In another big pot, heat the vegetable oil at medium-high. Add the onions; stir that shit up for 3 minutes. Slap in the garlic cause its good for ya and stir for another 3 minutes!

Then you pour the beans in the pot with the vegetable oil, onions, and garlic. Toss the ham chunks in there, do it violently like you mean that shit. Then toss the water, the salt, the peppers/jalapeños and the coffee in there too. Stir the fuck out of it and bring to a simmer. Cook for about an hour. Then add the BBQ sauce, stir, cover the pot and let it simmer on low heat for about 2 hours.

Then BOOM you’re set! ENJOY! The dish is high on protein and fiber. You will feel lighter after a couple of days but there is a price for that; get ready to take up residence in the bathroom. YEEHAW!
