Jackman did a good job in this opening number. However, his song and dance abilities were already known at the time. In this opening number, Hathaway showed-off her musical abilities underappreciated until then. This Oscar moment forwarded her career, and it helped get her the Oscar-winning performance in Les Mis. I remember this 2009 Oscar Night fondly.

not what I was expecting... yet after I watched the trailer all I could think was "wow that looks like what I should have been expecting" haha. We'll see, I'm just hoping for a unique character for Gosling more than anything
