While I didn't hate "Star Trek Into Darkness" (I enjoyed despite it's very deep flaws) but now I must admit it's on the verge of being very overrated.

I must. The podcast review show I listen to is making it a part of their DC/SUPERMAN retrospective going on right now. After STEEL, I'll only have GREEN LANTERN left as the sole DC movie to watch. If anything, at least LANTERN should fare a lot better by comparison.

Like Cochise, I believe that Bobby merits mention. Perhaps, a person should watch it with some baby-boomers, if any are available.
The Village is the right movie for the right audience. I liked it. A person agrees that it resembles a brilliant modern-day Twilight Zone episode.

Good choices! A Danny Boyle Bond movie would be beautiful. I would also like to see John Woo make one and see Bond with two guns :)

Cochise
Cochise at 07:02 PM Mar 06

Danny Boyle seems like the perfect choice what with the Olympics and all... but I can see him being a pretty picky director and am not sure if he'd want to do a sequel to a massive franchise... who knows, would love to see it though!

Tom Hooper is awesome, but he really hasn't done any action at all so it'd be kind of a huge leap

Carnahan would be awesome, but he'd probably drop out of it just like he did Mission Impossible 3 (same goes for Vaughn haha)

I don't think they'll allow a non UK director.

No. 3 - I wouldn't quite put both of them in the same league.

PROMETHEUS may be disappointing and overrated but, ALIEN RESURRECTION is just.......a cinematic abomination. It is the BATMAN & ROBIN of the ALIEN franchise.

COOL! We plan to see mostly the same movies before year's end. December is especially rich with best pictures. I might watch Lincoln this afternoon, or I might stay home and re-watch The Avengers. If a person lived in Nebraska, he might watch Lincoln all of the time.

#10 Exorcist II: The Heretic is one of the few films that I have never watched to the end. Yeah, the sequel is very, very, very bad. It sucks cocks in hell.

#3 The Keep has at least one prominent problem. The creature effects are not very good. In particular, the scary monster has glowing that are those '80s novelty glasses that Flavor Flav wears in "Rapture." Such shitty effects will take a viewer out of the horror experience. They really will.

My Top 10 Scariest Lines From Horror Films (In No Particular Order)

220px-rosemarys_baby_poster
1. “No, you haven’t been having any progress, and you’re not in control. It is in control, and if you think you’re in control, then you’re being an idiot! Not a single thing you’ve done has helped, and I’m sorry, I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but the camera hasn’t helped and the stupid footprints haven’t helped; do you think that thing would have left footprints if it didn’t want to? No! It did it because it wanted to! It wanted you to find my photo, it can be anywhere, it hears what we’re saying right now.” - PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
2. “There’s a monster outside my room, can I have a glass of water?” - SIGNS

honestly only one line comes to my mind and it's not on this list, though the movie is. These are great lines, but the only line I can think of that was scary was in The Ring (Verbinski's) when you thought the movie was over and then the kid talks to Naomi Watts and is like 'you saved her? you weren't supposed to save her' I was like fuuuuuuuuuuuuck AHHHH haha nice list though

nice! Heartless was a good flick! Very original and cool, horror with a fantasy edge (though I guess that is a part of many horror films)

Fido is unique and funny, refreshing for a movie of that specific genre.

Pontypool is very cool, perhaps even more unique than Heartless... so trippy and different!

My perspective is, because of how iconic and noteworthy the original(in this case ANOES) was, the disparity in quality makes it THAT much worse. Despite seeming to be more competently made than those other ones you listed.

10 Sequels I'd Rather See Get Made Than The Prometheus & TASM Sequels (In No Particular Order)

1. Indiana Jones 5
2. Beerfest 2
3. The Incredibles 2
4. Ghostbusters 3
5. Clerks 3
6. Troll 2: Part 2
7. Transformers 4
8. The Simpsons Movie 2
9. The Departed 2
10. The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen 2
Cochise
Cochise at 05:46 AM Aug 03

I'd rather see 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 than TASM2.

I absolutely loved Clerks 2 but honestly don't really have any desire to see a sequel oddly enough. Same can be said for #9.

But a PROMETHEUS sequel is easily my most anticipated sequel out there bar none so I gotta disagree on that one man, there isn't a single sequel out there that I'd rather see at the moment.

VitamanMan8
VitamanMan8 at 07:11 AM Aug 03

As much as I love the Departed, I don't think a sequel could be good. The whole reason I love the movie is because of the characters, and well... you know. The least interesting character is the only one left alive and what is he going to do next? I don't find myself all that interested.

Terminal_83
Terminal_83 at 07:54 AM Aug 03

The Departed is a remake of a film that was turned in to a trilogy. So if they decided on a sequel, it wouldn't be that big a deal.

1. First Name (if you're cool with that)? Bede
2. Explanation of Your MFC Name? It's spin on 'Terra Australis', which was one of the early names of my home country of Australia. So I changed 'Terra' to 'Terror' to make it sound more scary lol.
3. Movie Character You Can Relate With the Most? I have no idea to be honest. But if anyone like to take a stab at it you're more than welcome lol.
4. Most Hated Movie Character? Carol from "Oleanna"
5. Boo Radley? A myserious character from "To Kill A Mockingbird"
6. Do You Know Any Other Schmoes IRL? I'm good friends with Super Marcey IFL and know many other schmoes through my podcast (although I haven't met them in person yet)
7. How Long Have You Been On MFC? Since the beginning.
8. How Did You Hear About MFC? I heard about it when JoBlo himself was thinking of creating it on the JoBlo fourms
9. Where Was Your Profile Pic Taken? I made it myself. I took an early poster of "The Expendables 2" and just put my face on everyone's body lol.
10. Favorite Animated Character? Homer Simpson
11. Favorite Robot? R2-D2
12. Favorite Dinosaur? T-Rex
13. Have You Ever Written A Screenplay? I've written a couple of short scripts, I'm currently working some ideas for feature length ones.
14. What Movie Would You Live In If You Could? Willy Wonka And The Chocolate. I love chocolate that would be my pick for sure.
15. Ever Meet A Celebrity? I've met both Christopher Lloyd and Val Kilmer at a convention.
16. Don't You Think It's Fucking Obnoxious That Those Little Shit Kids Always Try And Take Lucky's Lucky Charms? We don't have Lucky Charms in Australia lol.

The most shocking thing to me on this list is that Alien 3 is a 9/10.

YoshioKun13
YoshioKun13 at 07:53 PM Jun 09

I think what Terror is trying to say is that, because PROMETHEUS actually had the potential to be a great movie to him, it's serious sci-fi and most of the elements were so well-done, that to fall as short as it did was way more of a disappointment.

The other ones? You can't take 'em seriously at all, they're a complete loss. They're Asylum movies basically. So if one can take them on those terms, they're not quite as much of a fail. Maybe even enjoyable, just as he's cited AVP to be.

Terror Australis
Terror Australis at 07:50 AM Jun 10

@VitamanMan8 To be honest I found "Alien 3" to be a far more satisfying, emotional and thematically richer than the entirety of "Prometheus".

@Yoshio Right on the money!

My Weekly Horror Film Marathon Recap #2:

1. The Devil's Backbone - 5/5: Another rewatch. Guillermo del Toro's hugely underrated, gripping & superbly crafted Spanish ghost story is absolutely flawless in everyway. The performances, the direction, the script, the score, the cinematography etc. are all absoltuely excellent. It truly is one of the best horror films of the 00's.
2. The Phantom Of The Opera (1925) - 4.5/5: What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said. It's a classic, pure and simple. Lon Chaney's look & portrayal of the Phantom is really creepy.
3. The Loved Ones - 4/5: The best Aussie horror film since "Wolf Creek". A very well made, disturbing & fucked up debut for writer/director Sean Byrne. The performances from cast were really good as well (Robin McLeavy being the stand out with her fantastic, creepy turn as Lola). It's worth checking out if you haven't seen it - 4/5
4. Heartless (2009) - 4/5: An extremely compelling, gripping and visually stunning British horror film that has a mesmerizing & moving performance from Jim Sturgess. The supporting cast all strong turns, the score was beautifully done and Phillip Ridley's direction is terrific. While it isn't perfect and it does have some flaws (especially the last half of the film), it is still a really damn good horror film that I recommend everyone check out.
5. Dominion: Prequel To The Exorcist - 3.5/5: While Paul Schrader's prequel to the original 1973 horror masterpiece "The Exorcist" is definitely flawed, unscary and pretty slow moving, however it is definitely a lot more better & interesting than Renny Harlin's 90% reshot version that made it to cinemas. Stellan Skarsgård's performance was really compelling.
6. The Legend Of Boggy Creek - 3/5: Suprisingly I thought that this was actually pretty decent, I was expecting it to be really terribile based on word-of-month. Granted it is poorly done in some areas (the direction, the acting etc.) but it did have some truly effective scary moments.
7. Suck - 2.5/5: While it does have solid performances from it's cast, cool cameos and fun moments, however I felt it was trying too hard at times and most of the humour fell flat. Overall it's watchable but pretty average.
8. Road Train (a.k.a. Road Kill) - 2/5: While on a technical level this Aussie horror film is well made but it's let down by it's really dumb, frustrating plot and the poor-to-average performances from it's cast, which didn't help that the characters they played were very unlikable and unsympathetic.
9. Exorcist II: The Heretic - 1.5/5: It starts off okay enough but eventually it gets sillier and sillier as it progresses along until it goes completely downhill and turns into an absoltue fuckin' mess. What a waste of a good cast.

My Weekly Horror Film Marathon Recap #1:

1. May - 4.5/5: Just as terrific, disturbing and heart breaking as I remembered it. It's a superbly written & directed horror film with a flawless performance from Angela Bettis. The supporting cast were terrific as well.
2. Shadow Of The Vampire - 4.5/5: I haven't seen this in such a long time and I absolutely enjoyed every second of it. This is a extremely well made, darkly funny and deliciously entertaining film with fantastic performance from Willem Dafoe, the man should have won the Oscar for this. The supporting cast were all really good
3. Wes Craven's New Nightmare - 4.5/5: Another great rewatch, IMHO it's the best sequel in the "Nightmare" series. Highly original, clever and creepy. Without a doubt it's the best script Wes Craven has ever written. The performances from both Heather Langenkamp & Miko Hughes were stellar.
4. The Evil Dead - 3.5/5: While dont'I love it as everyone else (to be honest, I perfer both "Evil Dead II" & "Army Of Darkness" over this one) but it is still an solid, creepy and imaginatively directed debut from Sam Raimi
5. The Wizard Of Gore (2007) - 3/5: A flawed but pretty solid and gruesome horror film. Although, I'm still trying to work out the ending. Crispin Glover rocked in his performance!
6. Dracula 2000 - 3/5: Another rewatch. It's a very dumb and silly film but I quite enjoyed it overall. Plus I really dug the direction they went for when it came to Dracula's true origin. Although I have to admit that Gerard Butler looked very weird in this film lol.

I share your thoughts on THE EVIL DEAD. It's a solid, highly entertaining horror flick and directorial debut from Raimi, but I also think EVIL DEAD II and especially ARMY OF DARKNESS are superior installments in the ED trilogy.

Additional ones i havent seen, anything by hitchcock, raging bull, cape fear, taxi driver, edward scissorhands, any of the godfather films, close encounters, serpico, breakfast at tiffanys, anything by kubrick, apocalypse now and citizen kane and anything by kirosawa. Probably plenty more. Yet I own Looney Tunes Back in Action. Should I just scrap my MFC membership now?
