I hear ya Ghost. I guess for me Thor gets extra points because of how much it blew past my expectations. I went into Thor with very low expectation and had little hope for the character to translate on the big screen and satisfy audiences. When I saw the film and it actually made sense, I was really impressed. I agree with you about the annoying pop culture references, could've done without them.
For Cap, I felt like it was a "safer" movie, didn't take as many risks but it was still pretty brilliant.
If you switch Captain America and Thor then this is EXACTLY my ranking. I really liked Thor, but Captain America was better and didn't have any annoying pop culture references spat out by an otherwise worthless character like Thor did. It also got more to the point faster. Thor did kind of drag for a bit between SPOILERS!!!! him getting "captured" by SHIELD and the Destroyer landing on Earth.
