The Royal Rumble!!! (aka I'm glad I didn't pay $60 for that.)

Santinorecord

That might have been the worst Royal Rumble I've seen. I found a stream online so thankfully I didn't pay for it. Here are my thoughts and warning there will be spoilers:

Before the main event happened, I was fine with everything that occurred beforehand. It was all predictable, but it was okay, because the RUMBLE is next! My favorite wwe event of the year - Mystery superstars, returning superstars, get excited!

It was bad. And I get the WWE will never be as good as it was via the Attitude era and long ago, but come on.

Firstly, it was the worst rumble in terms of 'randomness.' I know it's never random, but hide it better; they put all the rivalries together for crying out loud. Miz first, R-Truth 3rd. Foley, Santino. I'm not going to look up his name but Jahir whatever and then The Great Khali. Barrett, Orton were a couple draws apart. And they really loaded the front end with nobodies. And the announcers entered, hovering around the 20 spot area. It was no surprise the Miz was in as long as he was. Surprised Cody Rhodes was 4th, I liked that, but as a viewer, you honestly didn't see a clear winner until Dolph came in at 18, then Sheamus at 22.

Second, the surprises & returns. Oh my lord, no wonder they kept it a secret. Ricardo Rodriguez, Foley, The King, Cole, Booker, Khali, Hacksaw, Road Dogg, Kharma, not to mention Y2J but you knew all about him. David Otunga was number 27. Come on...we can't get one JUST ONE heavyweight, to actually give us a sense that 'hey, he might win?' No, we get guys who barely stay in the ring for a minute. It was depressing and just, awful. None of those guys lasted more than 5 minutes I don't think. Foley and Khali might have. I mean Lesnar, Mysterio, HHH, Austin, Taker, Batista, hell Kevin Nash again - you couldn't get just one of those guys? Really thought Christian might pop up but no! I'm not saying they had to win it. Just give us some excitement! Kane wasn't even in it! Mark Henry, Brodus Clay, throw them in there! Instead, we get these awful competitors including the halves of many of the awful tag team division that has become of the WWE.

Third, the outcome. I'm a fan of Sheamus but the WWE has done absolutely nothing with him lately. There were so many potential, interesting storylines that could have developed with a different winner. Y2J winning n going after CM Punk, Orton winning in his hometown (albeit predictable but still), a returning superstar winning it, etc. I hope they have a plan for Sheamus but right now, my faith is shattered.

What did you guys think? Any of you actually pay $60 for this??

Lesnar was a long shot at best and the returns for Kharma and Road Dogg. It wasn't THAT bad. It was a shame to se Foley because he obviously couldn't do much in the ring.

My fav. band for the past couple years - The National

The_national_-_high_violet__album_cover_?1323049155

I could talk about my favorite well-known bands for hours but if I could get anybody just the slightest bit interested in an indie group from Cincinnati, Ohio, then, well, I'll have to ask myself if we just became best friends. I'm talking about the National, a band that's been around for a while (at least 5 cds) and a band that gets better as the years go by. I've tried my damnest to get people into this band but haven't had much luck. I attended their concert last year by myself after asking for weeks for someone to join! But you've most likely heard of them before, their music has been in a plethora of tv shows and movies including Friday Night Lights, Chuck, and most recently Win-Win. They also sing the main song in the video game Portal 2. They're not your average band; they're very melodramatic and something you just don't hear everyday. They're just a good band to listen to when you're feeling low. Try 'em out!

No offense dude, but the set up of this post is really annoying. Could you maybe replace it with a video or something? Having to scroll and mute it every time until enough people post things for the page to cross over is a bit much.

Get the Y The Last Man movie going!

Y-the_last_man

Brian K. Vaughan's Y The Last Man has become my favorite graphic novel. Granted, I know I'm not completely finished with the series (halfway through book 9) but it's a remarkable read. There's so many twists and turns and just when you think it can be over and done, something new will happen and it will give you a whole nother reason to love it. I'm blogging right now just to express how badly I want to see this turned into a movie. I know it's in pre-production or whatever it is right now but I'm hoping it doesn't become one of those movies that just sits on the shelf and never gets made. I think it took quite a blow when Shia LeBeef was attached but decided to unattach himself due to 'similarities to his Transformers character.' If I had to choose between the two, you got to pick Y's Yorick Brown. There's actually a story there! Which brings me to my next thought: I think this can be a trilogy. Reading the books I've been trying to figure out when to end and begin each new flick. The books are all about surprises, and it seems the only way to go is to leave with cliffhangers in the first and second movies. I know that might not be attractive to studios but if they can get these movies to be suspenseful and lead into the all ending third movie, we could have sold out midnight showings probably along the lines of the way new superhero movies come out. I think it should highly considered to knock it out all quick and give us all three movies in three years, kind of how the Matrix gave us Reloaded and Revolutions. But that's just me ranting. Finally, I want some casting! Lets here some names. Here's my food for thought: I think Shia is great for the role of Yorick BUT if he decides to back out (He's supposedly back on..) I think they should approach an actor around the age of 18-20. In each book he gets considerably more mature and I want to be able to see that. Off the top of my head, it's really hard to think of anyone perfect for this role. I see glimpses of Ryan Reynolds in some of the illustrations and the way he talks, but I'm afraid he's too old. Then I can think of someone like Adam Brody. But he might be a little bit TOO nerdy looking. An unknown is a possibility but I'd rather not have it. You know, you change his hair and you could possibly see Zac Efron pulling it off. I am by no means an Efron fan but he's at the right age to pull it off and if he can get the role down...it might not be THAT bad...Actually, nope, don't want Efron, I must've been smokin some pot there for a minute. Logan Lerman? Just seen in Gamer, he's the right age I think, but acting-wise...i just don't know! The great thing about Y, every woman encountered is smokin hot! For Agent 355, Alica Keys. She not the greatest actress but Smokin' Aces was enough for me to see she could handle it. Heck, her partner in the movie Taraji P. Henson could do it as well. For Dr. Mann, I first thought Olivia Munn just because they look alike and the names are similar. But there's no way she can pull off that role. She'd be better playing a minor, less important character. I think Maggie Q is perfect for it. Hero, Yorick's sister can really be anybody with a mean look, long brown hair and a flat-chest..she cuts her tits off for crying out loud... His gf Beth, Yvonne Strahovski from NBC's Chuck. She's an Aussie, she's blonde, she's amazing. I could go on and on with all the characters in Y but those are the main ones right there. Plus, I gots to get going. I'm done with my rant.

I reeeeaaaaallly hope Shia doesn't play Yorick. I think Maggie Q. might be too young to play Dr. Mann, too. I wouldn't be opposed to Alicia Keys.

Beth isn't an Aussie, by the way. I'm not sure if you were trying to use that as a similarity between her and Strahovski.

i'd love to hear other peoples ideas on who should play who. it's really hard to think of who should be cast. And yeah i kno Beth isn't Aussie, it's just she's in Australia and Strahovski came to mind. She can def. pull it off

Top Ten Anticipated Movies of 2009

It will be tough to top 2008, but 2009 will have to try since..well, 2009 follows 2008. The following list isn't necessarily the most anticipated movies of next year but they are MINE. In other words, no Harry Potter, Twilight crap, or Angels & Demons. Trailers are included if that movie does so have one.

a href="http://www.collider.com/entertainment/news/article.asp/aid/10284/tcid/1">Honorable Mention: Black Dynamite

Honorable Mention 2: Fanboys

10. Funny People- Judd Apatow is finally back where he belongs behind the camera with his third directorial effort (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up). It tells the story of a famous comedian who has a near-death experience.
Starring: Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann

9. Sherlock Holmes-Director Guy Ritchie(Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels) hasn’t made a great film for quite some time, but took a step in the right direction last year with Rock N’ Rolla. With a solid cast lined up, he’ll try to get the well-known detective a formidable showing in theatres.
Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams

8. Duplicity- Clive Owen can first be seen in the new year in The International, but it is this thriller from Director Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton) that makes the list. Owen is a corporate spy that looks to pull off the ultimate con job.
Starring: Clive Owen, Julia Roberts, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Giamatti

7. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen- It’s funny, the sequel to one of the highest grossing movies of 2007 has been on the back burner compared to other 2009 films coming out. Does this mean 2009 will be THAT good? Either way, the cast, director, and Bots are back and I’m guessing revenge is the name of the game. Am I seeing it? Two words: Megan Fox.
Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Rainn Wilson

6. The Soloist- With a 2008 winter release, the elements of this movie had Oscar written all over it. It got pushed back to early 2009. Hopefully, the delay will be beneficial and The Soloist can be as amazing as the trailer makes it seem. The true story follows a journalist who finds a former music prodigy, now homeless man. The journalist tries to help the man find his way back, forming a friendship between the two that transforms each other’s lives.
Starring: Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey Jr.

5. Terminator: Salvation- Do yourself a favor and view the motion poster. That alone should peak your interest. The first Arnold-less Terminator sounds disastrous, but with a teaser trailer featuring Christian Bale in front of The Dark Knight this past summer showed America to pay attention. John Connor leads the resistance to keep the machines from finishing them all off.
Starring: Christian Bale

4. Star Trek- I could care less about Star Trek, but my God, does that trailer make this movie look amazing. The reason? Director J.J. Abrams (creator of Lost, Cloverfield). He brings his unique style to revamp the Star Trek franchise and should make a lot of Trekkies very, very happy. Like most possible reinventions of franchises, this one will start at the beginning of Captain James T. Kirk’s.
Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Eric Bana, Simon Pegg

3. Watchmen- Possibly, the most anticipated film of next year, ranks third on my list. Although, some of the characters look oddly appealing to me, the film looks stunning visually and, from my sources, seems to follow the source material closely. It’s the next film from director Zach Snyder after the massive 300. Let’s hope the legal troubles are behind this film and we’ll see Snyder’s rendition of the film on its current release date. (From imdb.com) When an ex-superhero is murdered, a vigilante named Rorshach begins an investigation into the murder, which begins to lead to a much more terrifying conclusion.
Starring: Malin Akerman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Carla Gugino

2. X-Men Origins: Wolverine- After X3, something new needed to be done. Hence, the X-Men Origins series evolves, and first up is, of course, Wolverine. The movie will have no relationship to the first three movies, and mutants new to the silver screen will arise. The story will follow the origins of Wolverine. Go figure.
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Liev Schrieber, Ryan Reynolds

1. Crank 2: High Voltage- Of all the highly-anticipated movies coming out, OF COURSE, the one I’m looking forward to the most is the sequel to my favorite movie ever. When I first heard of a sequel, I thought it would star John Cena and be a straight to DVD release. But, most the cast is back (which seems impossible due to the first movie), and it will be released in theaters. I know it can either bomb or be better. The directors said it will top everything from the first film so I’m hoping for the best. In the sequel, Chinese Mobsters replace Chev Chelios’ heart with a mechanical one that needs jolts of electricity to keep it beating. Is it too much to ask for a trailer yet? Or even an official website? The movie opens in April!
Starring: Jason Statham, Amy Smart, Corey Haim
