Plot: After getting cleaned out in an underground, high-stakes poker game, Mike (Matt Damon) promises his girlfriend that he'll leave his passion behind and focus on law school. 9 months later, his old friend Worm (Edward Norton) gets out of prison, and has a significant effect on Mike's new life. When Mike begins to feel the consequences of Worm's bad decisions, he is left with only one way to dig himself out; the game that he was forced to leave behind.
Review:
Rounders is a perfect example of an underrated film. One would think that its excellent cast would pull people in, but many are put off by the subject matter. As a friend said, "Eh, I don't really want to watch a movie about poker." Prior to my first viewing of Rounders, I didn't exactly share this thought, but I certainly didn't expect what was to come...[more]...
