Man on Fire

I was surprised at how good this movie actually was. I can’t really describe the story without giving away stuff but it is rather interesting. The fancy subtitles, weird camera work and the way that people spoke in the movie were all very irritating to sit through, but overall I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I just got the feeling that Tony Scott was trying too hard to define his directing style. The fact that statements were repeated three times with subtitles to put on emphasis was just not necessary. Denzel does a fantastic job and Dakota Fanning really is a remarkable upcoming actress. I do hope she stays away from the crack that Hollywood seems to push under every child actor’s nose. But, I do deem this one worth checking out.
