We start off in space, on an alien ship. One baby-looking alien running around carrying a canister full of a new top secret experiment, chased down by two more baby-looking aliens. At the last minute, the alien ejects the canister from the ship, sending it through space.
Now on Earth, it's 1959 and the canister crash lands nearby some kids at the makeout point. Naturally one of them investigates, only to have this leech thing jump from the canister and into the boy's mouth.
Flash forward to 28 years later where our main story takes place. Two dorky college dudes realize that the only way they're going to get laid is if they join a fraternity. So as an initiation prank, they're told to break a corpse out of the morgue and leave it on the steps of another fraternity.
So that's what they do. But it just so happens that the corpse they grab is the guy from the 50's that hosted the leech. The campus turns into a feeding frenzy for these leeches, turning college kids into zombies and leaving it up to the dorks to save the world.
Now don’t misunderstand my 10/10 rating. It’s not the kind of perfect score that films like The Godfather or The Shining deserve. I don’t expect anyone to love this movie as much as me, as this rating is a bit biased due to my passion for ridiculous B-movies. This movie is not only a great B-movie in its own right, but also serves as a wonderful throwback to the genre.
There are tons of references to the horror scene. Almost all of the character’s last names are based from different horror directors like George Romero, David Cronenberg and Sam Raimi. The school is named after Roger Corman. And there’s a scene where the house mother is watching Plan 9 from Outer Space.
It’s the kind of movie that I grow to love more and more as each scene goes by. I got a lot of laughs from the dialogue and the characters. The final showdown at the sorority house is the best. It’s shots like the prom dates teaming up to fight the zombies together and the girl in her prom dress sporting a flamethrower that make you want to pull the DVD out of the player and just make love to it.
Jill Whitlow couldn’t be any more fucking adorable. I’ve always been a fan of Tom Atkins, and this is by far my favorite role of his. He’s a cynical, liquor chugging, chain smoking hard-ass who gets me every time with his signature “Thrill me” line.
This movie is just so awesome. There’s all kind of shit going on. Aliens, zombies, axe wielding psycho, space leeches, gratuitous nudity, campy dialogue and killer effects. What more could you ask from a movie?
BOTTOM LINE: This movie kicks so much ass and I don’t think I could love it any more than I do. Part sci-fi, part zombie, part slasher, part college romp and even a little romance. If you're a fan of campy B-movies then I highly recommend this movie.

this movie is some fantastic 80's cheese and I mean that in a good way loved it since I was a kid! It's remake was almost just as good (well un-official remake) Slither!

I was planning a 80's B movie night with this and Fright Night one day this week, your review just inspired me to make it tonight.
