I personally can’t stand John Landis as a person. I think he’s just such an arrogant dickhead who loves to hear himself talk and I grow to hate him with every interview I see him in. But personal feelings aside, he has given us some of the best horror comedies out there. Innocent Blood is appropriately considered as the sister film to his earlier An American Werewolf in London, but personally I’ve always enjoyed this movie much more.
I just think the story is so cool, and I love the mixture of vampirism and mafia men. You have this sexy little vampire chick biting into these mobsters, played by typecasts like Chazz Palminter, David Proval and Tony Sirico. Oh and Don Rickles. She thinks holding a sense of morality by feasting only on these murdering scum, until a compassionate undercover cop is thrown in the mix, and you have suddenly have a nifty little love story.
I love Anthony LaPaglia. And Anne Parillaud is just stunning, one of the sexiest vampires I've ever seen and an all time favorite V.I.L.F. of mine. The sexual radiance of this woman is just irresistible. I think she has an amazing body, and I’m grateful that she doesn’t mind showing it. ;) And Robert Loggia is great as the mob boss turned menacing vampire, conveniently nicknamed “The Shark”. Following along his discovery of his new curse is quite a good time.
And this movie has some crazy cameos. Like Yoda-voicing Frank Oz and even Sam Raimi. Dario Argento plays a paramedic in an ambulance, Tom Savini plays a photographer, the foxy Linnea Quigley plays a nurse. And then there the cameo....within a cameo, where a TV is shown playing Alfred Hitchcock's cameo in Strangers on a Train.
BOTTOM LINE: Call me crazy but I really dig this flick. Love the vampires mixed with the mobsters, Parillaud is one of the sexiest vampire there is and there’s a good amount of delightfully dark humor. This is just my kind of movie. And how many movies feature Don fucking Rickles as a vampire?

Anne Parillaud makes this work for me , she's brilliant . And let's be honest ...NICE !!
I remember Leonard Maltin talking about how great this movie was and he interviewed John Landis on a show once about this movie. Kinda curious to check this out.

Good horror flick.
