This is another movie I used to watch over and over as a kid, and revisiting it now it still holds up fairly well for a family movie, bringing back memories and a good amount of nostalgia. I still love that cool house and the little thrill ride that leads to the laboratory. And I never realized how dark some of it is and just how crude the three uncle ghosts can be. Notably that fucked up prank they pull on the doc about his dead wife.
I think this is when I first realized that I had a huge crush on Christina Ricci. I still she’s hot. HOT THE WAY SHE LOOKS NOW! GUYS! NO PEDO! NO PEDO! And the story was alright. Predictable and corny, but not without heart. I felt bad for Casper and his struggle with simply having a friend. But the effects are what seem to be the main focus here though, as you might pick up on after the 10th time one of the ghosts face fills up the screen.
And this movie really is pretty stupid. For instance, why did the doc go apeshit the first time he saw Casper? Isn’t that what he did for a living? Talking to ghosts? And how long has Casper and the other three ghosts been living in this house and they aren’t able to find this huge laboratory underneath them? And why do these ghosts eat food? Why do only a couple of ghosts have hair? Was Casper bald when he died?
And it's funny it's like "ok, who are we going to get to play Casper in his human form?" And then they're like "well let's just get whoever is on the cover of TeenBop this week." And it was Devon Sawa go figure.
BOTTOM LINE: It was alright. Decent enough for a family movie I guess, and holds up about as well as I expected from a movie that I loved as a kid. Pretty dumb really but I had a good enough time with it. I say if you're in the mood for something a little tamer for your Halloween-athon, check this one out. And look out for the Ghostbuster cameo!

Ricci was the sexbomb back then when I wouldn't now what a sexbomb was. The film sets where really sexy as well :p
Wow... flashback! I was working at Universal Studios Hollywood when this came out, damn that was long time ago!!!

LOL At the picture. Yeah, the uncles are pretty fucked up but Fatso is my favorite. This was my first time seeing Devon Sawa so I have soft spot for this movie.
