Plot: ***********SPOILERS*************.............. Ripley survived part 3 dude! Naw, just kidding. They cloned her, and now she's trying to keep the aliens from making it to Earth.

Review:

So the whole cloning thing was pretty hard to get past at first, because that is just so incredibly stupid. I mean it's better than trying to say that she somehow survived part 3 after taking a dive in liquid hot magma, but it's still retarded.

And really the writing throughout the entire movie is pretty ill-conceived, providing a lot more comic-relief than desired and most of the characters just got on my nerves. I thought it was funny that Winona Ryder played a robot, just because I've always thought her acting style was pretty robotic. Yeah, not a fan of the Ryder.

But the thing I dislike the most about this movie is the route the Ripley clone takes at the end, more specifically, fucking an alien. Throughout the series she does whatever she can to kill the thing, and in this one she spread eagle for it. And again I know it's not the genuine Ripley, but that's is still just way too fucking bizarre. And this was directed by the same guy who did the wonderful Amelie and Delicatessen? I still just can't believe that.

But even with all the flaws, I didn't hate it or anything. It was a decent watch that I thought was pretty entertaining, in a braindead kind of way, but still. There are some cool scenes. I do like the underwater chase, seeing the aliens swimming was quite a creepy sight for me.

And I did think that hybrid alien thingy was rather disgusting, just watching Weaver touch the thing made me want to throw up all over myself. Plus, Dan Hedaya and Chucky (Brad Dourif) are in it. And I could never hate any movie with them in it.

BOTTOM LINE: It was....ok. It's definitely really stupid, completely unnecessary, and easily the worst one of the franchise in my opinion. But just like part 3, I didn't hate it. It held my interest and I was entertained the whole time. A few cool scenes, the underwater chase was kind of creepy, but the writing is just pathetic as are most of the characters. 5/10

^Me too. For a film made purely to cash in on the franchise, it was a damn good time.

I don't hate it and I still give it a watch from time to time.. but it's definitely a 5 or 6/10 for me.
