****SPOILERS***
So we have Halloween, Friday the 13th, Silent Night, Deadly Night......and now we have April Fool's Day. While all of these movies incorporate the holiday into the plot, this one does it in a pretty creative way in my opinion, and I've always loved the idea and of course the end result. It definitely stands out from the other slashers of the 80's, again for the end result.
I for one love the end. The first time I saw it I was pretty fooled, which I probably shouldn't have been, considering you never actually see anyone actually being killed on camera, but you still see their bodies and severed heads after the fact which of course creates suspicion. And I can understand why people don't like this movie and don't even consider it to be a slasher movie, but I do.
My absolute favorite part of the movie though is the final scene, both because Jack-in-the-Box's are frightening under ANY circumstances as far as I'm concerned, and also because I really thought that bitch got her throat cut.
One thing I have to complain about though is that Muffy chick. My God did she get on my nerves. In the end of course you discover that all of her blank expressions and frustratingly robotic mannerisms are all part of the act in her pursuit to come across as acting "odd" to create suspicion, but even so it was so hard for me to watch. I wanted to smack her the entire time and just hated every scene she was in. Like I said, it's necessary, but it's still hard to tolerate.
BOTTOM LINE: I liked it. I liked the idea, I pretty much liked all the characters (consisting of Back to the Future's Biff and Friday the 13th: Part 2's Ginny), and I really dig the ending. Always a fun one to watch on the first of April. However, the 2008 remake is way better..........APRIL FOOLS!!!!!

haha great end to your review. I love the fact that even if it's a slasher ***SPOILERR**** no one really dies at the end. So, all we ended up seeing was, what? A comedy? haha

Great review! This was one of those movies I saw at the video store as a kid and wanted to see because of the cover, but parents would never rent so I had to wait until I was older to see it... I completely agree about the ending, didn't see it coming at all...The remake of this was a complete POS!!!!
