took Niki's advice and watched 500 Days of Summer. Sorry Cherry, but I really liked it alot. I have been Tom so many times in my life. Zooey Deschanel broke my heart in this film, she embodied everything I know I want in a girl. Coupled with the fact that she has never been so adorable I felt his pain and desperate need for an explanation. I may have just lost about three hundred man points but I don't really give a shite : )
Hehe.....Naa you're not a poster child, Cherry. Just the first person I thought of who wasn't overly impressed by it. It is certainly not without it's flaws, there were a few sloppy moments but I guess it's because I've been there like alot of guys have. That last conversation on the bench, needing answers and not even beginning to understand the ones you get. When you break it down you could say it's about a guy who should have cut his losses before he really got hurt but I've done that before. I guess it's pretty hard when they look like her : )
I think I've been friends with males for too long to tolerate the behaviour that Tom puts out. I have guy friends come and describe a situation similar to what's going on between the two of them (i.e. she wants to sleep with him but isn't calling him her boyfriend) and I give them my honest advice: She doesn't want YOU. It doesn't mean she doesn't want anyone, she just doesn't want YOU. They always end up pursuing her anyway and then weeks or if they're lucky, a couple months pass and I have a sloppy drunk on my hands making my life miserable crying over the chick not being what he thought he could mold her into, all the while (being a good friend and a female) not saying "I told you so" and rubbing it in.
I prefer rational (or even irrationally rational) people, even if they're coarse in getting their point across. Probably my favorite romance in movies of recent times was between Billy Crudup and Mandy Moore in DEDICATION. Far superior movie, gives you a happy ending but also leaves so much open to the possibility of the future between these two people.

LOL... I don't know how I ended up the poster child of hating this film. It's "cute" at best, not horrible, but not great by a long shot. I wasn't the only one to say this, a couple others took my side on it (which isn't the hating side). The movie is alright. The characters sucked. Does that make sense?
