Trying to write one of my short stories but having difficulties. I know where I want the story and the characters to go but it's getting there that's the problem. Fuck my lack of motivation, this has held me back too much in life.
When I need to get motivation I listen to music :) It sounds cliche but I usually listen to movie scores or classical music or even ballet or opera music, whatever genre or theme fits what I'm writing. A lot of times that helps me get motivated or find inspiration.
I might try that goNADS. Now what music genre fits an (awkward cough) 'adult' story
I just keep writing and asking myself why or how?
The Bad Guy pulled into the trading Post parking lot.
OR
The desert sun is merciless in the middle of July on the long stretch of hwy between Phoenix and Vegas.
Bad Guy's been driving for hours, running from a job that went bad in Phoenix, and is thirsty as hell when he pulls the 1988 Pontiac into the trading Post.
One of my problems as a writer (along with lack of motivation) is trying to figure out scenes that come in between all the scenes I really want to write.
Try just writing whatever the fuck comes to mind first, then once you've got more of the story fleshed out, go back and change whatever you need to. Sometimes your best motivation for a certain scene will come long after you wrote it the first time.
What I usually do when I want to write something, but can't get it out....I put on something similar or read something like what I want to kick something in the head
