Sitcom Idea
This is something me and a few college friends came up with for a class project and we were thinking of expanding it into a full series, this is what we have so far.
The show will be about six University students, starting with two of them meeting for the first time to share an apartment. The humour will be a mix of Inbetweens - with the awkward teen jokes - and It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia - with the controversial issues.
Name - Untitled Student Comedy (Started as a joke but it's stuck now)
Characters:
Hud Entwistle - A carefree lad that doesn't think about consequences, he acts without thinking which often leads to the group getting in trouble. He moves into the apartment with Archie in the first episode. Somehow ends up naked in each episode
Archie Moon - A quiet boy, slightly nerdish and tends to avoid contact with people. He only moves into the apartment with Hud to save money which is his fathers idea. His growing friendship with Hud causes him great distress but also gives him some great moments in his life.
J.J. - A mysterious girl, seemingly appearing out of nowhere and fixing problems that no-one else can. J.J. is a quirky girl that acts in a way that others find strange. She pops in and out of places without warning and doesn't appear to have a home or even a class at the university. It's later revealled she has diabetes.
Caleb Dawltry - Hud's best friend from primary school, a deeply cynical and sarcastic boy following the break up of his long-term girlfriend Rachel. He finds Hud's new friend Archie strange but grows to him eventually, as he does with Amanda who he takes a liking to.
Amanda Townsend - A workaholic girl that is so focussed on work and her deeply christian family that she doesn't get out much. She's old friends with J.J. - although even she doesn't know much about her past - who convinces Amanda to come to a party. There Amanda has one drunken night with Caleb and immediately regrets this, however she continues to see him in secret.
James Bundrick - Caleb's cousin, a homosexual that shares his cousin's like for a bitchy comment. James in normally very nice and he's the most level headed of the group, working a good job and a steady relationship with his boyfriend Timothy. He often acts as the voice of reason.
Pilot Episode: The Kids Are Alright - Archie and Hud wake up from a hard night's partying and learn from J.J. that they've lost the month's rent money. The episode flashed back to their first meeting with each other when they move into an apartment together, then meeting J.J., Caleb, Amanda and James. That night - despite Archie's protests - Hud throws a house party and that's when they lose the money. The two of them have to remember what happened the previous night to get their money back and only have a few strange clues around their apartment to go on.
Other episodes we have planned are one where Hud is sleeping with a 16 year old girl and gets chastised by the group because of it. And another where Hud and James become amatuer porn distributors.
So I ask you, do we have a show?
