So Nick has commissioned the guys who brought us the Avatar series to make a new series called "AVATAR THE LEGEND OF KORRA". To debut in 2011, Ive heard its about Aang's daughter, and Ive heard that Korra is the next Avatar (Which would mean Aang is dead, and I cant say Im thrilled about that).
Im not comfortable with this idea of this "mini series". If they werent going to tie up the loose ends from the original, then they shouldve just left it alone. Its the characters of the original series that made it worth a damn and if theyre gone (especially Aang) why bother even watching? ... Sadly I will end up watching it anyway
I cannot wait for this series. As to moving onto new characters? I'm okay with it but I'm going to miss Toph the most... unless she does make the cut (I think the series takes place about 70 years after the original Avatar series).
Looking forward to this too. Though I can't help but think it came about because DiMartino and Konietzko probably saw the Shyamalan movie and thought, "We need to make up for this."
I think this sounds just wonderful. I like to think that Aang's story is over, I know all I need to know about his character.
I also imagine we will learn about the fates of our favorite characters throughout the run of the new series. I am pumped to go back to that world.
I'm not sad they're moving on. As OKMovieFan said, Aang's arc is over. He's finished. I want to see other people, I just hope it's entertaining.
I agree Snake. Yet I must admit I am intrigued with this new story. So i'll keep an open mind. Who knows, they might bring him back once the series takes off a little.

Correction:
The series will focus on Korra, a teenage female protagonist from the Southern Water Tribe and the current reincarnation of the Avatar, who, according to the president of Nickelodeon, will be "hotheaded, independent, and ready to take on the world."She has already mastered the elements of Water, Earth, and Fire, but needs to master Air. In the show, Korra will have to learn Airbending from master Tenzin, son of Avatar Aang and Katara, and contend with an anti-bender revolution taking place in the city.
