The transfer definitely has a green tint to it which you can fix with your TV settings if you'd like. Jackson added the tint in himself from the theatrical blu-rays because he put a similar tint on The Hobbit and wanted to make them the same.. it sucks but there's not much you can do. I never found it too distracting and it's a pretty quick fix with your "warm" color settings.
It's noticeable, but I don't think it would be too much of a distraction or a problem. It just seems unnecessary. When I watch it I'll adjust my settings like you suggested. Thanks for the help man!
I've seen it said that the reason there's so much more CGI is that since Jackson filmed it in 48 FPS, digital FX should look better and more realistic. By comparison, traditional make-up & prosthetics might look less convincing and phonier in such super clarity.
Nope, we're in the same boat on that one and it was one of my biggest gripes with the movie. I hated the entirely CGI design for Azog (there was no reason for it) and noticed in the goblin city that half of the goblins were CGI themselves. That's really just lazy and doesn't have anything to do with the 48 FPS like Yoshio seems to think. I couldn't tell that the makeup in this movie was makeup at all to be honest.. once they did away with miniatures it became clear that they wanted to focus all of their efforts on computer graphics.
Yea the goblin city and Azog seemed to be wasted opportunities. I'm hoping for at least some of Smaug to be animatronic in the next film, but I don't see that happening.
You don't know it yet but by posting this we just became best friends.
Haha that's awesome man. Yea the Thin Man series is fantastic, and Myrna Loy is the epitome of perfection in my opinion.
I had Myrna on a recent list of babes to ' do ' by decades . Sweet post !!
Yowza, she is foine! :o
