If anyone is looking for a movie to check out this week other than Skyfall on Blu Ray I would definitely recommend The Thieves. Great story and great action. Plus Jun Ji-Hyun is incredibly beautiful throughout the film. I would recommend renting it, but I know I will be buying it.

A Good Day to Die Hard is a surprisingly good time. Lots of great action and smartass lines from Bruce Willis. I left the movie theater already thinking about when I'll go see it again. 4/5

I was rewatching Kick Ass and just remembered Kick Ass 2 is coming out this year. However, the ending of the Kick Ass 2 graphic novel is so bleak I don't know how well it would translate to film, or if they will change it. Has anyone else read the graphic novel and had the same opinion?

I'm goin to be in Tokyo for a few days on vacation. Today I was walking around in Shinjuku and saw the hotel from Lost in Translation so I took a picture. It was really cool to see it in person. It's absolutely massive, and the area it's in is crazy.

Still need to see that movie.

Have fun in Tokyo!

I'm a huge fan of Edgar Wright and he just finished shooting his next movie "The World's End" The cast is great, and I can't wait for next year to see it. This is the first picture from the movie.

I know it's probably not true, but I love the NYU Bill Murray urban legend.

This is a question for anyone with the LOTR trilogy on Blu Ray------I put off buying the LOTR blu ray because I was told that the transfer of Fellowship of the Ring had a green tint on the picture because the transfer was messed up. Some of the reviews on Amazon were pretty critical of the picture quality for FOTR. How noticeable is this on the transfer?

ask JohnLocke2342. He knows everything.

The transfer definitely has a green tint to it which you can fix with your TV settings if you'd like. Jackson added the tint in himself from the theatrical blu-rays because he put a similar tint on The Hobbit and wanted to make them the same.. it sucks but there's not much you can do. I never found it too distracting and it's a pretty quick fix with your "warm" color settings.

It's noticeable, but I don't think it would be too much of a distraction or a problem. It just seems unnecessary. When I watch it I'll adjust my settings like you suggested. Thanks for the help man!

Just got back from seeing the Hobbit for a 2nd time. I think it's a great entry in the series, but am I the only one that would have liked to have seen more make up effects on orcs and goblins instead of mostly CGI creatures? One of the reasons I love the LOTR trilogy so much is because they used a lot of practical effects and actual people as the orcs (for the most part).

I've seen it said that the reason there's so much more CGI is that since Jackson filmed it in 48 FPS, digital FX should look better and more realistic. By comparison, traditional make-up & prosthetics might look less convincing and phonier in such super clarity.

Nope, we're in the same boat on that one and it was one of my biggest gripes with the movie. I hated the entirely CGI design for Azog (there was no reason for it) and noticed in the goblin city that half of the goblins were CGI themselves. That's really just lazy and doesn't have anything to do with the 48 FPS like Yoshio seems to think. I couldn't tell that the makeup in this movie was makeup at all to be honest.. once they did away with miniatures it became clear that they wanted to focus all of their efforts on computer graphics.

Yea the goblin city and Azog seemed to be wasted opportunities. I'm hoping for at least some of Smaug to be animatronic in the next film, but I don't see that happening.

Haha that's awesome man. Yea the Thin Man series is fantastic, and Myrna Loy is the epitome of perfection in my opinion.

Here's my spoiler free review of The Hobbit: Absolutely Fantastic! I spent a majority of the movie with a big dumb grin on my face. I saw it in 24fps, but I'm going back this weekend to see it in 3d Imax (that screening was sold out when I went). Also picked up an awesome Korean poster for The Hobbit while I was there that I will post in a minute.

I just read that Ian Mckellen will be the voice of the Snowman in this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special. I'm a massive Doctor Who fan so this news is fantastic. I'd like to think that Ian McKellen recorded his voice role while dressed like Gandalf.

Get the Gringo was pretty good. The tone reminded me a lot of Payback. If you haven't seen it I would definitely recommend checking it out on Netflix Instant.
