The only upside to working Saturday, is getting out early enough to catch John Carter with the wifey.

Sadly we didn't make it. They only had 4 showings all day!! They're setting it up for failure.

Started Mad Men from season 1. Too bad we can only get 2-3 episodes in on the weekends.

Season 1 is pretty good, season 2 is all right, but I think season 3 is the best season so far. I have yet to watch season 4.

Walking Dead kicked my ass...emotionally. And it wasn't even the finale. And yes I realize my only status updates are about Walking Dead.

It wasn't boring, just not as engaging as the others. Finally a Rick/Shane fight and it kept cutting to the damn tied up kid.

I think that's called "building tension"

Instead of listening to the same old music at work, why not download some Joblo podcasts? Genius!

G.I. Joe the animated series will forever speak to my inner child. Best toy inspired cartoon of the 80s?......

So Drive was pretty damn good. Not as much action as I anticipated but it was very well executed. 8/10

Watching the Ridley's cut of Legend on blu ray is like seeing it for the first time. And I've seen the theatrical version at least 20 times.

Totally agree! It is maybe the one film occassion, where there are two versions, that I honestly cannot pick which one I prefer. They both are still great, for completely different reasons!

Exactly. I love how surreal the shorter cut is with Tangerine Dream on the soundtrack. But they're both excellent.

I'm a man of simple tastes. I enjoy.....

1. Listening to an entire album in my car.
2. Playing my guitar. Loudly.
3. Having the house to myself for a couple hours.
4. A few bottles of Heineken at a party.
5. Playing Mega Blocks with my daughter.
6. Digging out my NES and getting angry at how hard the games are.
7. Window shopping at the mall.
8. Getting stacks of books from the library and reading one of them.
9. Sketching, but not finishing a drawing.
10. Batman comics.
11. Going on nostalgia trips through youtube and retrojunk.com
12. Pizza. Any kind. Any maker.

"the idea that John Carter is going to making $100 million while James Cameron's Avatar, a pale simulacrum of John Carter...made over a billion dollars, is proof that we do not live in the best of all possible nerd worlds." -toplessrobot.com

Probably a personal facepalm moment (according to layna I'm facepalm guy) but I didn't "get" the reason behind John Carter's existence, then after viewing some footage yesterday it dawned on me that they're trying to make another Avatar and mimic its success...

nerd85 at 11:25 AM Feb 17

What's unfortunate is that there's been umpteen sci-fi adventure movies inspired by the John Carter book series (and others of the era), so the originality is lost. Just like Tintin, people don't get why they should be interested.

As I rip a copy of the Beatles Christmas specials onto my ipod, I realize it's getting close to my annual viewing of the Beatles Anthology. The finest 8 hour Beatle documentary I've seen yet.
