Review: JLH’s The Client List
Minor Spoilers
This is a TV series for WOMEN. Sorry fellas. All they’re offering you is shots of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s boobs and her in lingerie. Since it’s basic cable there’s no nudity, not even asses. There is eye candy but it for the women and gay men because all of her clients are in decent to good shape. They vary from being cute to hot, there are no creepy old men..yet.
Two episodes in, not as much sex one would expect. As far as we know the massage therapists only do rub and tugs, save for one who does legal massages. None of them do drugs or abusing alcohol. Most of the clients are legit; it’s just the short client list that demands “extras”. The massage therapists are cute but they don’t match JLH or her clients in looks.
Jennifer Love Hewitt is charming as Riley, she’s playing a different character that wasn’t in the movie of which this is based upon. Riley is a working mother, daughter, massage therapist and psychologist for her clients doling out advice. She’s fine but not mind blowing in her performance. Part of that is because of the writing is cliché, so far. The people in her world are likable. For show that is about balancing dual lives, secrecy, sex and morality, there’s barely any meat on the bone in its writing. I would be surprised if this was renewed but it is doing well in the ratings. Anyone who enjoys Lifetime either openly or privately might like this series. I’ll write a review of the entire season when it concludes.
