It's an excellent movie and a staple of Science Fiction films IMO. If this is your first time through the original features then I'd advise to keep going because Star Trek III is pretty solid and Star Trek IV is arguably my favorite of the original movies. It's actually hilarious and the entire thing flows so perfectly together.
^Yeah I'm definitely gonna keep going. I feel like I should watch more of the original series too to fully appreciate them. I actually might watch The Search for Spock later tonight. Wish The Voyage Home was on netflix instant...there's just a few of them on there.
Awesome pal.
I actually had no idea Khan originated from the TV series, I had watched all the movies first so when I started TOS and came to that episode I was genuinely surprised to find he was in it. Revisiting the movie over the weekend to prepare for STID, I think they do a good job with exposition to fill ya in on who he is. I just listened to the commentary with director Nick Meyer on the movie, you gotta give him a lot of credit for reinvigorating the franchise after the sluggish start with TMP. Super smart guy, and like Abrams not a Trek fan prior to doing the movie. He'd also go on to do STVI which I am looking forward to revisiting. It's not quite good as II, but a really good sendoff for the original crew/cast.
II, III and IV form a mini-trilogy of sorts so you've definitely gotta continue on now haha.
^Thanks for recommending to watch "Space Seed" first. I'm glad I saw that before the movie. Since netflix instant has the entire series, I plan on watching more of it.
Now onto The Wrath of Khan
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have also said that Martin has told them how the whole thing ends...so I wonder if we'll see the ending with the show first, instead of the books...because it'll probably be close to 10 years before Martin finishes the books...

Saw my 1st movie Jimmy Stewart movie IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE last year. Hope to check out REAR WINDOW sometime in the near future...
@Yoshio - Nice! George Bailey in It's A Wonderful Life is my favorite performance of Stewart's. And Rear Window is my favorite Hitchcock film! Love all the Hitchcock films with Jimmy Stewart...Rear Window, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo, and Rope.

And since FF6 is playing on the imax this friday, not every imax theater will get them though.
Ah that's right, before NEXT GENERATION they were going to do another TV show with the original cast but basically turned it into this movie.

YES!! We'll be consumed with marathoning those...
