Lawless is a good movie. It won't win any awards but, it is well made and acted enough to make it's fact based story of the moonshine bootlegging Bondurant family an entertaining watch. A good cast featuring Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, a slimy and sinister Guy Pearce and an effective and tolerable Shia LaBeouf all perform their parts well and Director John Hillcoat moves things along at a brisk pace and gives the film some strong moments. In better hands this could have been a real powerhouse Prohibition set crime flick but, it settles for just being good and that's fine enough for an evening's entertainment on the couch. More like 6.5

loved it, thought it was a great movie myself. Too bad you didn't enjoy it more (perhaps the LaBeouf grudge had something to do with it?) but hey, at least you did enjoy it a bit!

No, LaBeouf was good. I had no problems with him. Flick could have used more intensity. Even the shootout at the bridge lacked the real intensity it needed. I did enjoy it, it's not bad just could have been better.
