My Casting of a Production of the Play: A Streetcar Named Desire

Streetcar
1. Blanche DuBois: Amy Adams
2. Stella Kowalski: Anna Camp
3. Stanley Kowalski: Michael Fassbender
4. Eunice Hubbell: Isla Fisher
5. Steve Hubbell: Joel Edgerton
6. Harold Mitchell (Mitch): Joseph Gordon-Levitt
7. *Note: I don't know who I'd put as some of the minor characters so I'm just doing the major cast
grelber37
grelber37 at 07:41 PM Jun 03

Edgerton and Fassbender might be interchangeable for the part of Stanley. Either could do the role. I could see each interpreting the character differently and having a different stage presence.

Amy Adams is the perfect age for Blanche. And, she plays Southern and semi-flighty characters well. Your casting is very solid throughout. You have a good eye for such casting.

WalkAway
WalkAway at 08:01 PM Jun 03

I would never have thought of Amy as Blanche but....it's intriguing.

MLRoberts
MLRoberts at 11:57 AM Jun 04

grebler: You're right. Edgerton and Fassbender could play Stanley. I had Edgerton as Steve to pair him with Isla Fisher as Eunice because of their chemistry in The Great Gatsby. And thanks for the casting compliment! I really appreciate it. I read a lot of plays and try to picture who would be in a production.

WA: As I first started reading it, I was picturing Rachel Weisz because she was Blanche in a production at the Donmar. But then I thinking of someone else in that role and Amy Adams came to mind. She normally is cast in roles which are upbeat or optimistic but I think she'd be an interesting Blanche.
