My WalkAway Schmoe Crush: Lizzie Olsen

Lizziepic
1. Martha Marcy May Marlene - 8/10
2. Liberal Arts - 7.5/10
3. Red Lights - 6/10
4. Silent House - 5/10
5. *I've only seen--and own--4 of the 5 movies that Lizzie has had released to a wide audience so far. I still have to see Peace, Love and Misunderstanding. I heard it isn't all that good, but Lizzie stars in it...of course I'm gonna watch it lol. The movies she stars in aren't the best, but she's always one of the, or only, bright spots of the film. She's got a few movies releasing this year so I'm anxiously awaiting to see more of my girl...

Yup, that's the Chris Rock movie with Julie Delpy. I thought it was pretty funny and what not. It's got a hipster vibe to it, but it's a nice take on today's modern families.

Drunken talk in Downtown Detroit

F23f764cf3f211e1a8ab22000a1e957a_7
1. First of all I was late as hell in getting downtown and the traffic after a ball game is hell. So with Law texting me while I was trying to find a fukin parking spot, it's any wonder I even made it lol.
2. Upon my arrival I saw Moreno screaming and being very animated. I tried to sneak over but that bastard noticed me as I walked over. As soon as he saw me, the noise level on that patio hit new levels. Just imagine a drunk Jim Law and Johnny Moreno screaming "Ohhhhhhh!" at my arrival. After doing the bro hugs, the shenanigans began.
3. I remember Law ragged me about finding a parking spot, Mainly because I found one right near the bar after tryin every other fukin place downtown lol
4. Moreno kept wondering about the large influx of white people in the downtown Detroit area. I mentioned that after the fans leave from the game (Tigers) things will go back to normal.
5. Moreno told me how earlier in the day he was looking for other Mexicans in the area. Jim mentioned he saw one other, but sadly he looked like Moreno. Moreno mentioned "yea, it was probably my drunk ass walking over to the bathroom!"
6. When Jim went to get me a beer, Moreno pulled me to the side. I remember something along the lines of "We can talk to each other now. Real talk." Sadly I don't recall what he said (lol) but I do vaguely remember something about us being the only minorities in the area.
7. I ragged on Moreno for wearing a Chicago Bears hat.
8. Once again Moreno was wondering why the two of us were the only people of color. He was just baffled. I then yelled out "Yea they got all the black people standing outside looking in. Segregation like a muthafucka!!" Jim and Moreno almost died of laughter after that one lol
9. Jim mentioned how he and Moreno were gated or whatever the hell it's called when you're going across the border from Canada to the U.S. (and vice versa) and they pull you over to question you. Jim blamed it on the one time he had a fukin Mexican with him lol.
10. Moreno started to say something about Ghostbusters...but then the conversation went elsewhere for some reason. Alcohol probably...
11. Fukin white people. -Jim watching these middle-age couples TRYING to dance to songs that shouldn't be danced to.
12. Moreno saw a little person and mentioned it was Tyrion Lannister, and he (Moreno) got all excited.
13. I started dancing to The O' Jays - Love Train as I went to get another beer. Moreno was cheering me on.
14. I noticed one other black guy came to the bar. And at one point I looked over in his direction and he started to run for a brief second. And of course I got startled and started to move myself. Jim, of course, mentioned the whole joke about black people and how if you see others running, you start running too. lmao
15. I went and updated my status on fb about me hanging with two rock stars and beatrixkiddo and quidditchmom told me to post pics. After posted the pics, quidditchmom told us to kiss. Moreno kinda looked at me and Jim and gave a look that I can't even describe. Basically it was a look of discontent lol
16. Moreno wanted to accuse Jim of infidelity over something he (Jim) didnt even say lol
17. That night has slowly come back to my memory bank but unfortunately I can't remember much else. I swear there was more...oh, well. If I recall more, I'll let ya'll know. Thanks for the hilarious, drunken night, fellas. Next time we'll record it or something lol

Happy Birthday Christopher Nolan (Revised List)

Nolan
1. The Dark Knight - In my opinion the best Nolan film due to the character layers within the film. 10/10
2. Memento - Great flick. No matter how many times I watch it, the story just...gaah. Memento really throws you for a loop. 10/10
3. Inception - I came into this movie expecting craziness and that's what I got. I love dream type stuff and this movie just made me take a step back about the dream world. 8.5/10
4. Batman Begins - Thanks to this movie, Batman got his swagger back. I've come to love this movie more over time. 8.5/10
5. Insomnia - The movie that introduced me to the genius that is Nolan. The night I saw this movie I just knew my movie world was gonna be different. 8/10
6. The Dark Knight Rises - I need more time and viewing to ultimately rate this movie. Who knows... 8/10
7. Following - Yes I have seen this film and enjoyed it immensely. It's smart and much like Memento, the story is non-linear. Not his best film, but still a favorite of mine. 8/10
8. The Prestige - Just because it's at the bottom doesn't mean I didn't like it. Just the "least" favorite of the small group. 7.5/10

I dare say even Nolan was somewhat inspired by that original 1966 movie. There seem to be a few callbacks to it in BEGINS and TDKR I noticed.

Why I Love the Hulk

5ed2443b1afff7db0a449783d7a250d8-orig
1. His power is something everyone, at one point in time, has wished they could do. Just being able to Hulk out when you want to put a hurting on someone.
2. His powers and abilities are unbound. People know that he's strong and powerful beyond imagination, but his stamina and quick healing ability are just as strong. The longer a fight goes, the more it swings into the big guy's favor.
3. Hulk was born from the gamma bomb, in a sense. Over the years it has been discovered that the green monster was always hidden deep within Bruce Banner. Locked away from repressed memories and of possible mutant genetics. The bomb just awakened what was always there.
4. It has also been debated if the Hulk is the true being and that Banner is weaker form of him. The thought that Hulk was supposed to be of this world and not Banner.
5. The multiple incarnations of the Hulk. It's believed (and pretty much proven) that Banner has multiple personality disorder. There is Gray Hulk, Professor Hulk, and Mindless Hulk. Many people just know the "Hulk smash" version i.e. Savage Hulk, a version that is pure rage and aggression. Banner was a timid and powerless as a child, so it only makes sense that his strongest version is more childlike.
6. The Gray Hulk. The first version of Hulk. Originally Banner only became Gray Hulk at sun set/night. Over the years that version fell back into Banner's psyche (and also for technical reasons I wont go into). Gray Hulk was a cocky and introverted character. The very exact opposite of what Banner was and he was always embarrassed of this. Much like a version of Jekyll and Hyde.
7. The true origin of Hulk was that of Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. A monster created by a brilliant man, that was always mistaken as a threat, but he just wanted to be left alone. Sure the version that has become prominent in the comics and movies is built on rage, but deep down the monster that is Hulk, just wants to be left to his own device.
8. Much like any other comic character, Hulk has had his run ins with the Marvel universe. And for the most part, never in the right circumstances. When it comes to facing Hulk, he views that person or persons as a threat. Though, he usually never wanted to fight allies, but if they came into his kitchen, it was on. He originally joined The Avengers to keep from being hunted and hounded. He never fully fit in being at odds with the other members of the group. After being blamed for a matter that wasn't his fault, Hulk felt betrayed and wanted to leave. Fearing that he might do wrong on his own, he was once hunted again. He has had epic fights with Spider-Man, The Thing and Thor. Usually, Hulk wins with power and strength but his anger usually blinds him in a fight.
9. Growing up I loved The Incredible Hulk television show. Even though, the show was slightly different from the comics, it still encompassed the true mystique of Banner and Hulk. To this day Bill Bixby has portrayed Banner better than any other actor. Well, so far. Hulking out into Lou Ferrigno was always epic and fun for me as a kid. I honestly believed that a person could Hulk out.
10. The End of Hulk storyline was always one of my favorite storylines. In this story Hulk/Banner are the last beings on earth. After the world was riddled and destroyed by nuclear holocaust, only the Hulk survived. The radiation that leveled the world only made him stronger. Banner was able to live far beyond the average life due to Hulks abilities. He once tried to commit suicide by putting a gun into his mouth. Only it didn't work. As Banner lay dying knowing his time had finally come, the Hulk wanted out. With his last breath, Banner died, and the Hulk came back. The war between Banner and Hulk was over...but for the first time ever Hulk felt an emptiness, as if something was different. Knowing that if he would revert back to Banner he would die, the Hulk just sat and waited. The Hulk had finally gotten his wish to be alone.
11. I could go on and on...maybe I'll do a list later.

Even More Random/Dorky/Embarrassing Facts About Me

Lucas_frontcover_large_kdw1w0auyqst464
1. I loathe sandals and flip flops. I just don't like feet or having my feet out...ugh
2. I can't sleep or even take a nap with the door open.
3. I ALWAYS have to have a watch on. Also my Ghostbusters wristband on my right wrist (Even at work). I feel naked without them.
4. Every night when I got to sleep I pop in a DVD from Seinfeld. Originally it was just at random, but for the majority of this year I've gone in chronological order from the first season on and so forth. No joke.
5. When it comes to the volume on my TV, stereo or the thermostat in my car, it has to be a multiple of "5."
6. I can remember the smallest details or random facts, but God forbid I can ever remember where I left my car keys or cell phone.
7. I have a lucky penny (birth year, on heads) and a lucky $10 bill (found it in the parking lot of my job) in my wallet.
8. I keep having recurring dreams I'm back in college or high school or the house I lived in San Diego.
9. It takes me 8 hours to do just two loads of laundry. lol. I get caught up in a movie, game or music and completely forget.
10. I wasn't always tall (6'4"). In high school (before my late spurt) I was a small 5'3" 130 lb weakling. The same kind that went out for JV football. I went out to impress a girl and my parents. I sat on the bench the WHOLE season. Well, I played for 30 seconds in one game that we clearly won. Yea, I was pretty much Lucas.
11. I once fell down the bleachers at a sporting event in college. I thought no one saw it until the lady on the P.A. asked if I was alright...EMBARRASSING!! And of course my crush at the time was sitting in the crowd. Smooth...
12. I once made a paper mock-up of the Delorean. I put a paper clip to act as a conduit/hook into my flux capacitor when I flew by my extension cord I had hanging from my tv and the bookcase. I was cool kid.
13. I once cried for no reason at all. It was frickin weird. It was a few years ago and I was sitting on the comp playing on the internet and for some weird reason I just started crying...
14. I bought a Paul Frank Julius Monkey Winter Hat earlier this year for winter. Yea, its a childs hat but it fit my huge head. lol
15. I semi-wrote a list to remember the next time I decided to make a random/dorky/embarrassing list

Random/Dorky/Embarrassing Facts About Me

Me
1. I went on my first date in college......and by that extension, never kissed a girl until college. Yes. You read right. I was a true geek growing up.
2. When I walk up stairs I HAVE to skip over steps. Example: If I start on the first step I have to skip the 2nd one and so on. Plus, I need to be able to skip the last step before the landing at top. Yes, OCD much.
3. I can sneeze with my eyes open. No joke.
4. I'm lactose intolerant but I love cheese and extra extra extra plain cheeze pizza and cereal. Go Fig...
5. My middle name is Angelo. There for I am an actual Ninja Turtle.
6. Though, I love Halloween, when a person is around me in a costume and I don't know who they are, freaks me out. Hard to explain. lol
7. I still have my Ziggy plush doll that I got as a newborn. And yes, it's on my bed.
8. I love watching the shows iCarly and Victorious. I find them hilarious and fun.
9. I pretty much started puberty at a young age, but for some reason I was stuck in it for 15 years, lol. I didnt really start growing facial hair until my early 20s. (picture is me in college) I guess it's a gene thing. My dad was late in growing his facial hair, too. But now his goatee is epic. lol
10. When it comes to women, I pay attention to every last detail. Most guys obsess over boobs and asses and such, and yes I notice and like those things too, but I obsess over their fashion and attitude. I alway notice new hairdos, pants, headbands, finger nails, fragrance, shoes, etc. Even if the lady is the hottest woman on the planet, is she doesnt carry herself well or has a nasty attitude, she can forget it. Those are the things that I notice and attract me to the ladies.

Based on a list by WalkAway

MJZ
MJZ at 01:07 PM Dec 10

I guess I should say as far as #10 goes I'm just a big observer of women's fashion. I notice it and like it. I don't require it though. I like the work and time women put in. It's not lost on me :)
Though, I don't care if a lady just wants to walk around in sweats and a T. Fine by me.

My Halloween Costumes Over the Years

Images
1. Pound Puppy - I was in preschool or kindergarten. I originally wanted to be the monster from My Pet Monster but my mom couldn't find one in my size *sob* but Pound Puppies was the next best thing. lol (see pic)
2. Bart Simpson - Yea I was bad-ass!
3. Skeleton - Glow in the dark face paint and a all black outfit with the skeleton on the front and back.
4. Dracula - Pretty self-explanatory. I dressed up with a mask and all. Was my go to outfit for awhile.
5. Vampire - Huge difference people. lol As a vampire I did all the make up and what not, but the dracula one was a mask.
6. Jason Voorhees - Much like Dracula, I stuck with this costume idea for a few years. As I got older I got lazy.
7. Ghostface (Scream) - Really didn't care for the movies, but I loved that mask. I didn't wear that crappy black dress thing. I had my own style. Just all black clothing and gloves, etc.
8. Some Other Guy - One year I just grabbed random things and made a outfit that made absolutely no sense. lol
9. Ghostbuster?? - Well not technically. I just had acheap shirt to play off my kahki pants to look like a flight suit. Doesn't really count. I refuse to go as a Ghostbuster until I have the COMPLETE outfit with matching accessories.
10. *I honestly can't think of anything else. I haven't dressed up in years. Never go out, or invited to, any parties so I feel it's pointless to sit at home watching movies in a costume. lol Or is it????

If I Had a Bajillion Dollars

32194_511034756270_117900257_30202460_2533186_n
1. I would build my own indoor water park at my home. The slides would go in and out of the building. Then I would hire people to maintain it and give them a great salary with benefits.
2. Build my own theater and have private screenings with movie stars and my MFC family. Once again I would hire people to run the projector, the concession stand, etc. I'm helping the economy, man.
3. Have a section of my house that has white walls all around. It would be my art room. Everyone is welcome to add on to it.
4. Start my own film production company. Hiring my MFC family of course.
5. Buy some of my favorite sports franchises, and make champions out of them coughcoughDetroitLionscough.
6. With partnership with my man Joblo, start the Joblo Movie Con! It would be epic. Just endless booze, movies and craziness. Whoooooot!
7. Donate money to places that really need it. Fix what needs to be fixed.
8. Build an actual time traveling Delorean, lol.
9. Start a actual Ghostbusters franchise. To be honest, I just want a real Proton Pack and the Ecto-1. lol
10. Finally settle down and marry Kelly Brook...

All my schmoes are invited to my water park. Live there I don't care, lol. Especially since VitamanMan8 will be hiding in the slides, lol.
And yes, Nite Owl, you can join the franchise! You gotta answer only one question: "Do you believe in UFOs, astral projection, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trans-mediums, the Loch Ness monster, and the theory of Atlantis?"

Things I've Learned From MFC

Mfc-white-1
1. I've learned that no one really likes the Sam Rami Spider-Man films. I'm not saying they Hated them, just never really got into them, or Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. I personally loved the 2nd movie. Hated the 3rd, lol.
2. No one likes Cars. Well except for xwing16, lachister, and myself.
3. I learned that there ARE some beautiful, smart and funny ladies that are also into movies.
4. I learned that the next gal(s) I date, will have some heavy competition compared to the ladies of MFC. You ladies are damn near perfect and you truly are an inspiration.
5. I've learned that there are plenty respectable fellas in the world. Proof that chivlary isn't dead and proof that good guys DO exist here, and we are plentiful, lol.
6. I've learned that you can have a good friend, or bff, that lives across the country, or in another country for that matter. Distance is just a measurement but friends go a long way.
7. I've learned that Canadians aren't so bad, lol. J/K Much love to my neighbors of the north.
8. I've learned that almost everyone wears glasses. Just a bunch of sexy nerds, lol.
9. I've learned that even though we as a society have a long way to go, MLK Jr.'s dream is pretty much a reality on MFC.
10. I've learned that even if you love/like a movie that the majority loathed, and vice versa, that it's OK to have a friendly debate. Just as long as you are respectful and show some validity in your arguments.

Random Getting-to-Know-You Questions

216552_509104354810_117900257_30141457_8103114_n
1. What's Your Home Town - Hmmm. I guess San Diego, Ca and Metro Detroit... I was a Navy brat.
2. What Makes You Stand Out in a Crowd - I'm a 6'4" black male that wears glasses, lol.
3. Preferred Hot Drink - N/A... I hate hot drinks.
4. What Type of Drunk Are You - Depends... if I'm in a good mood I open up more than my usual closed self. I'm the fun drunk. Now, if I'm moody when I'm drinking, then I'm even MORE closed off, lol.
5. Stadard Outfit - Random T's and shorts in warm weather and jeans and hoodies in the cold weather.
6. Skill People Don't Expect You to Have - A fairly decent photographic memory.
7. What Makes You Good at Your Job - I can put up with a lot of B.S. Also, with all the multiple jobs I've had since I was 17, I've only ever called off from work twice... both were family related. I'm never sick.
8. The First Album You Bought - Bone Thugs-n-Harmony (E. 1999 Eternal)
9. Hobby Most People Don't Know You Have - Nothin really.
10. Look Around and Name Five Objects That Catch Your Eye - Kelly Brook, a wood carving that says "Relax," Ghostbusters swag, stanky laundry, Darth Vader bobble head
11. Thing You'll Never Grow Out Of - Pretty much everything, lol.
12. Piercings and Tattoos - Just my pierced ear.

Nicknames I've Been Given

1. MJ - Pretty much my real name.
2. Jigga/Jay-Z - In college when I had little to no facial hair, my buddy thought I looked like Jay-Z. So for the longest time a lot of people noticed the slight similarities and called me anything referring to Jay-Z, lol. It faded after time but the one guy who started it still refers to me as Jigga whenever I hear from him.
3. Jay or J - Mainly my parents or grandparents refer to me as J.
4. Michelle - LOL yea I know. It's just my goofy co-worker who calls me this. He has stupid nicknames for everyone, lol. It refers to Dodgeball the movie. He also does it in Ben Stiller's voice.
5. Arsenio - My mom's old friend from when I was little used to call me Arsenio. LOL I still don't quite see the similarities.
6. E-day - My little god sister couldn't say "MJ" when she was a baby so she called me "E-day."
7. Spock/Yoda/Elf - My ears... thankfully I grew into them a bit.
8. Big butt- Pretty self explanatory. Once again its from one person. A girl I knew in middle school ALWAYS called me that. Thanfully it went away before high school, lol.

@Kitty- I got Ricked-rolled on Thanksgiving last year... it was a loooooong day, lol.
Yup, he's in that video. I actually love that song, but once I hear 2 seconds of it, I'm doomed. I also blame Jaci for #7. Months ago she posted the video. I hadn't heard the song in YEARS, lol.

Moments from the MCCC

Knives
1. Meeting Ernie Hudson - This goes without saying. I've been wanting to meet him for years. I lived in the same town as he did and graduated from the same high school as well. Plus he's a F'n Ghostbuster!! Real nice guy.
2. Meeting Tim Sale - One of my all-time favorite comic artist. He's also drawn for personal favorites of mine Batman:The Long Halloween and Hulk:Gray. He collaborated with Jeph Loeb numerous times and their stories are always great. I got him to sign my books as well. Though it took me awhile. F'n lady in front of me had a f'n rolling suitcase full of stuff for him to sign. I almost kicked her...
3. Running into Ian Ziering at the entrance - Yea he walked by me as I walked into the entrance. He greeted me with smile hello... I giggled, lol. No wonder girls watched 90210, HaHa.
4. Peter Mayhew - That guy is huge! He walked by me and it's very rare I have to look up to anyone.
5. George Takei - He had a speaking forum which he touched on many issues in hollywood casting Asian characters and the whole Akira casting. He also spoke about the It Gets Better Project. So all in all a great listen.
6. Super Baby?? - This weird looking dude with a childs Supeman outfit... with a realistic type baby head. Ugh. It was huge and weird looking.
7. Scotty Schwartz - He played Flick in A Christmas Story. Yea that guy looks exactly the same and hasn't grown since, lol.
8. Tons of comics and art EVERYWHERE. A real Comic Con.
9. Supporting local artist - I was buying stuff from people near the area trying to support up and comers and what not. Like Bruce Gerlach. The inserted pic is from Mel McCann. Of course I bought it, lol. She has some nice stuff. www.meljamin.com
10. Having a Good time - It was great getting out the house and forgetting life and all of it's problems and having fun... Can't wait for next year!!

5. Boo Radley? You never know who you're dealing with.
6. Do You Know Any Other Schmoes IRL? Hung out with Jim Law once last year.
7. How Long Have You Been On MFC? 2009

Keys to MJZ' Heart

Cosmopolitan_fun_fearless_males_nyea113
1. She Can Make Me Laugh - I hear ladies always saying they would like a guy that can make them laugh, well the same goes for me when it comes to women. She doesn't need to be a comedian or anything. Just be willing to joke around and keep up when I'm cutting loose, lol.
2. Nice Hair - She doesn't have to star in a L'Oréal commercial or anything, lol. I just find myself really attracted to nice hair. Also when it comes to hair I love the chic look of hair on one side...mmmmhm sexy (see pic).
3. Confidence - I can't stand conceited women, but I do prefer a woman that can stand on her two feet and shows the world she's capable of doing what she wants to do.
4. Geek - Comics, movies, books, or whatever it or they may be, I just can't get enough of a girl who likes the things I'm into.
5. Casual - I rarely like to dress up so I don't expect my lady to dress up all the time either. I like the jeans/sweatpants and t-shirt look. Don't get me wrong, I love when women get classy or otherwise, lol, but when you're rolling with me casual is just fine.
6. Cook - surprise, surprise. You don't need to be chef, just simple things with ease. I can cook just fine, but it's nice to have a lady that won't burn jell-o, lol.
7. Intelligence - I'm a guy who isn't intimidated by a woman with a good head on her shoulders. I don't understand why some guys are afraid of a woman that can speak for herself, carry conversations and what not.
8. Petite - This may be the most random entry but I don't care. I really have a thing for the shorter girls. I'm not discriminating against the tall ladies, but something about those petite women, lol. If you're between 4'9" and 5'3" ish then you're good, lol. Though you don't HAVE to be ;-)
9. You Wear Glasses - I find a nice pair of frames on a lady to be the sexiest thing she can wear. Not some of the time... all of the time. Nuff said.
10. Understanding - If she is willing to accept my quiet and reserved demeanor then we're good to go. I am a bit of a goof, but more often than not I'm keeping to myself. When I'm being quiet doesn't always indicate that something is wrong.

Christopher Nolan Ranked

Christopher-nolan-4
1. The Dark Knight - In my opinion the best Nolan film due to the character layers within the film.
2. Inception - It was easy for me to rank this film high at this time due to it's freshness. You can get a better understanding of this film after letting it simmer for 2 years or so and see how it holds up.
3. Memento - Great flick. I had a hard time between Memento & Inception. Memento really throws you for a loop.
4. Insomnia - The movie that introduced me to the genius that is Nolan.
5. Batman Begins - Thanks to this movie, Batman got his swagger back.
6. Following - Yes I have seen this film and enjoyed it immensely. It's smart and much like Memento, the story is non-linear. Not his best film, but still a favorite of mine.
7. The Prestige - Just because it's at the bottom doesn't mean I didn't like it. Just the "least" favorite of the small group.

My Top 10 of 20...10

1. Inception - This movie was my most anticipated movie of 2010 and of the last few years. Ever since I heard about the movie, and my love for Christopher Nolan, I had a nerdgasm. Who didn't? I like stuff pertaining to dreams and this movie just blew it out of the park.
2. Toy Story 3 - If you didn't tear up or cried at all during this movie you have no soul. The greatest capper to one of the best movie trilogies, of any kind, to grace the movie screen. The animation was great and the storyline and the residual feelings you have with the characters over the years came to a head during this film. And boy did they execute it to near perfection. To infinity and beyond...
3. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - I was totally in lesbians with this movie. It was probably one of the better movies of 2010 that hardly anyone saw. Well outside of this site. The casting was damn near perfect. Rockin soundtrack and great shots at pop culture. If you have a pulse you should have enjoyed this movie.
4. The Social Network - The Facebook movie?? No, buddy, it's more than that. Yes, it's about the "creation" of facebook but it pertains to the connection between friends and others within a social network...not internet related. If you know where we are as a society right now you should better understand what this movie is going for. I think this might be my favorite Fincher movie.
5. Exit Through the Gift Shop - Banksy takes on a nice little ride in the world of street art and so-called art. It was the only documentary I watched last year. I'm not big on documentaries but the "plot" of this movie had me at the start. I won't go too far into what the movie is about. Let's just say after you finish the movie you're gonna question art and what is pop art. Nicely executed with a lot of fun s***.
6. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Yes it was technically a 2009 release, but that was in Sweden. It didn't come to Canada and U.S. until 2010 so to me it's a 2010 release. I liked this move from the plot and the adult themes. It's a mystery/crime movie with a lot of graphic substance. It's a bit long and slow paced throughout the movie, but with it's storyline you can't help but keep watching.
7. Black Swan - If you're not sure how you felt about the movie or if you want to see the movie you have to see it for the great performance of Natalie Portman. For me the movie stayed with me days after seeing it in theaters. It's not often a movie leaves me wanting more and wanting to see it again. If you know any of Aronofsky's previous films you pretty much know what kind of film you're in for. Let's just say if I have kids they're not doing ballet, lol.
8. The Fighter - Boxing and the connection between loved ones. I love boxing and boxing movies so this movie was a no brainer. Once again it's a movie with a boxing related theme but it touches on determination and that crazy connection between family albiet good or in this case dysfunctional. Sure it has a lot of the typical sports cliches and at times it's predictiable, but the depth of the characters carry this movie beyond most sports related movies.
9. Winter's Bone - Family...sometimes it's all we have and what keeps us going. Jennifer Lawerence was phenomenal in a movie about a young teen that raises her young siblings and cares for her catatonic mother. Her father has long disappeared and that is the catalyst for a young girl trying to keep what little life she can control intact. I felt for the characters. Though most of them I really couldn't stand, lol.
10. The Town - What can I say other than epic. I'll admit that I originally didn't want to see this movie. I caved in around X-mas and I'm glad I did. The story line is your basic robbery caper, but with more engrossing characters and such. The action scenes were great and Jeremy Renner was once again outstanding. When he gets into character he grabs ahold of it and never lets go. I felt the movie was much smarter than expected and the characters seem to feed off of one another to further the depth of the movie. Overall a pretty good movie
11. Honorable mentions: True Grit (just missed the cut); Unthinkable; How to Train Your Dragon

Least Favorite/ Most Disappointing of 2010 (NPO)

1. Alice in Wonderland - I really didn't hate this movie so to speak. I just felt it was unfulfilling and just boring at times. I watched it in 3D and got a major headache from having to put the 3D frames over my everyday frames. To make matters worse the 3D sucked. Oh well I got some cool posters from the premiere.
2. Hot Tub Time Machine - Let's just say that I initially didn't want to see this movie. I somehow decided on a whim when I was bored. I didn't find this movie all that funny or worth my time. If it wasn't for Diora Baird, Lizzy Caplan and Jessica Paré's classic moment I would have disliked this movie even more.
3. After.Life - Though this originally premiered at the AFI film festival in Nov. 2009. I consider this a 2010 release due to the fact that it didn't come into most theaters until April 2010. Whatever the case I saw it last year and was bored form the get go. Even a nude Christina Ricci couldn't save this movie. Justin Long's character was annoying and at times pointless. I just...ugh it was a bad movie.
4. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief - I enjoyed the book when I first read it, but when I saw a trailer for the movie I was originally worried how it would turn out. Well my worries were correct. The acting was horrendous and the execution was tepid.
5. Our Family Wedding - I wanted to like this movie. It was a different kind of movie with interracial couple with serious family issues. You never see too many movies like these, especially with a minority cast. I thought it would be funny, but it wasn't. The movie started to go in different directions as it went along and by the time it ended you were glad that it ended. It also reconfirmed my opinion on Carlos Mencia. He was funny at first but after a few jokes he bores you. Much like this movie. Funny and sweet at first but the somewhat all-star cast couldn't save it. Shannyn Sossamon's makes a surprise appearance...but it was all for naught.
6. Clash of the Titans - It was boring. I wanted to like this one as well. I like the old Greek mythos and what not, but this movie just didn't seem to click. The trailer was much better thatn the actual movie. I'm starting to think that Sam Worthington isn't too good of an action star.
7. Nightmare on Elm Street - You know it sucked. No need for me to even go any further than that.
8. The Last Airbender - *sigh* If it wasn't for the beautiful soundtrack I'm not sure what I could take from this movie that was positive. I know kid actors aren't supposed to be the greatest but my god these kids and the jokes and execution were horrendous. I'm starting to think that if a cartoon is great by itself, you should probably keep it that way.
9. Devil - I just didn't get this movie. Well I got it, but I didn't want it, lol. I wasn't the least bit scared or on the edge of my seat for this film. I remember leaving the theater feeling empty and questioning what'd I just watch. I didn't hate the movie. I just felt unfullfilled yet again. The premise was great but the reasoning around it and how the movie came to a head was stupid. The big reveal wasn't all that much of a shock. I'll watch it again someday and see if I feel the same.
10. The Expendables - Oh snap I can see the reaction on your face right now, lol. Some of you know I didn't particularly care to see this movie to begin with. I only went to see it because I my buddy was bent on seeing it and I hadn't seen him in quite awhile. So I went for friends sake, ya know? I was just bored and didn't see the point of making this film. I hate how some people thought that you were more of a man for liking or seeing this movie. What? Is that how we do it these days? lol Jokes aside... If this movie came out in the early 90's or 80's I would have loved it more. I just didn't have fun watching this movie. I'll admit the big action scene at end was nice. I kinda was upset of the lack of Jet Li in that movie. He was basically made into a bitch and joke material. I don't want to go any further and rag it too much. I've seen worse and this wasn't horrible I just didn't get all the hype.

Favorite Blu-Ray & DVD Purchases of 2010

Back-to-the-future-blu-ray_3001
1. Back to The Future Trilogy - Not much can be said that hasn't already been said about one of my favorite movies and trilogies of all time. Also with the re-release in theaters. It was a great year to be a Back to the Future fan.
2. Inception (blu-ray)- Probably my favorite film of the year and one of the better purchases, too. The picture is great and holy crap the sound is nuts. My system almost exploded with awesomeness the first time I watched it. Poor subwoofer...
3. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (blu-ray) - Totally in Lesbians with this blu-ray and all of its great extras. I haven't seen all of them (extras) but I will.
4. Rocky: The Undisputed Collection (blu-ray)- Most of the movies didn't really transfer well but in most scenes and moments it looks great in hi-def. I'ts much better than what you can find on T.V. and such. I just love these movies and never had any of them on any format.
5. Toy Story 3- A great closer to a great trilogy. The best animated series in film history. Yes I said it.
6. Moon (blu-ray)- Awesome, awesome film. I never tire of this film and it's beautiful in Hi-def.
7. The Town (blu-ray)- It's a great movie that I initially didn't want to see in theaters and was hesitant to buy when it came out on video. It went on sale for real cheap after X-mas and I decided to give it a whirl. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised.
8. Trick 'r Treat (dvd)- I didn't get the chance to see it until Halloween 10' and I'm mad it took me so long. I think it might have become my favorite Halloween movie, ever.
9. Lost: Season 6 (dvd)- I miss this show ohh so much. I wanted it on blu-ray but didn't have the money and I figure down the road I'll update all of my Lost volumes to blu-ray one day. True story: I can't force myself to watch the finale episode, again. It hurts too much, lol.
10. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (blu-ray)- If there ever was a movie that needed to be on blu-ray this was one of them, lol. I know a lot of people didn't get into it, but for me I loved this movie within the first 10 minutes. And on blu-ray it's pristine.
11. Honorable Mentions: Pirates of the Caribbean 1-2 (blu-ray); The Hurt Locker (blu-ray); Fight Club (blu-ray); Terminator 2 (blu-ray); Batman: Under the Red Hood (dvd); Despicable Me (dvd); Pan's Labyrinth (blu-ray); Exit Through the Gift Shop (dvd); The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (blu-ray).
12. Wish I bought: Alien Anthology...I'm gonna get it, but need more dinero.

Things that Amuse me at the moment (No specific Order)

Erin-cummings
1. MFC- Nuff said
2. Skimpy clothing in January- Women who wear skimpy clothing and it's freezing outside confuses me.
3. My new calendar- It's from a cool artist Justin Bua. When I get new calendars I become quite enamored with them. Don't know why.
4. Rebecca Hall- I dunno what it is about her. I couldn't keep my eyes off her in The Town. New celeb crush?
5. Movie Collection- I literally have DVDs and Blu-Rays all over my room and nowhere to put them.
6. My guitar
7. Black Swan- That movie is still sticking with me days later.
8. My Paul Frank Julius Monkey Winter Hat- Oh yea
9. Erin Cummings- Just discovered who she was recently... meow
10. Finding Pennies- Don't ask.
11. Baseball- Spring Training is right around the corner. Football (college & NFL) have been boring. I don't care for basketball all that much. Hockey only interests me when playoff begins. So I'm ready for my favorite sport.
12. Seinfeld- I watch it everyday (DVDs) and it never gets old.
13. Girl From Work- She pretty much fits the "mold" of my "dream" girl. Glasses, petite and curvy, smart, hard worker, etc. But of course she has a boyfriend...ugh

Favorite Bromances...

Chewy
1. Han Solo & Chewbacca- The first bromance I came across as a kid. They went across the galaxy, often at odds but they're understanding of one another kept them alive.
2. Turk & J.D.- Yes they transcend pretty much any bromance. I mean hell a bartender calls Turk and JD as one word...TurkandJD thinking its one person, lol.
3. Ricky Bobby & Cal Naughton Jr. - *whisper* Shake and Bake
4. Rajesh Koothrappali & Howard Wolowitz- Nerds that know each other a little too well, lol
5. Lloyd Christmas & Harry Dunne- They don't get any dumber than this, lol. Going cross country for a girl and causing death and destruction along the way.
6. Jake and Elwodd Blues- "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses."
7. Jay & Silent Bob- Snoochie Boochies
8. Woody & Buzzlightyear- Started off rocky but thats what made their bromance so great. Too Infinity and Beyond!
9. James T. Kirk & Spock- They needed each other...fascinating.
10. Kenan & Kel- "Kel, grab a brain, a heart, and some courage, and meet me at the Emerald City! Now come on, Ozzy!" This needs to be on DVD!!!

Favorite Rocker Chicks/Gals that Know how to Tear it Down

Cristina
1. <<< Cristina Scabbia- She's the lone female member of a metal group. She can sing like no other and is hot too boot.
2. Hayley Williams- You would never assume that a petite girl as Hayley would be able to belt out songs with such power. She knows how to have a good time and rock like no other.
3. P!nk- She speaks her mind and doesn't care what you think of her. She can be a bit crazy, but her words and thoughts are a positive influence on other women. Gotta respect that.
4. Orianthi- If you haven't heard this gal play you're trule missing out. She can tear it down on the guitar. Sure's shes attractive but I like her most cause of her guitar playing skills. If Santana gives you props then you know you're doing right.
5. Avril Lavigne- Many people don't like her but I'm not one of them. Something about her that gets me going, lol.
6. Lily Allen- girl is crazy!
7. Shirley Manson- Probably the only one on the list that scares me a bit, lol
8. Liv Boeree- Another gal that can shred on the guitar... *Drools*
9. Lzzy Hale- I'm just now hearing about her, but I'm glad I finally did.

Personal favorite Female Singers (No Order)

Colbie-caillat
1. Colbie Caillat- Much like Zooey I can listen to her and be relaxed in seconds.
2. Zooey Deschanel- This goes without saying. Her voice is unique and no matter how I'm feeling she can calm me down in an instant.
3. Alicia Keys- Not only can she play on the piano she has some nice singing pipes. Shes just talented all around.
4. Joss Stone- Probably has the stongest voice and singing talent of all my favorite singers. She can tear it down with the best of them.
5. A Fine Frenzy (Alison Sudol)- Probably one of the least known singers on my list. She comes off as fragile but she knows how to hold her own at times. On top of that she can play the piano pretty nice as well.
6. Norah Jones- When listening to Norah you're bound to be exposed to different styles of song and singing throughout her cds. All the more reason to enjoy her singing.
7. Amy Winehouse- Before you go nuts with complaints you need to understand that inside the music studio Amy is talented beyond belief. Most people know her from all of her stupid mistakes and all, but if you go and listen to her first album that was released in the U.K. titled "Frank" you'll be in for a treat. One of my all time favorite albums. It's much better than her "Back to Black" which one high acclaim, in my opinion.
8. Melody Gardot- One of the few Jazz singers left in the wrold. Her style and grace mirrors that of singers from long ago.
9. Beyonce- No one can bring a house down like Beyonce. You may not like her, but she puts asses in the seats. She can dance all day and night and hit those high notes as shes doing it. You gotta respect that.

Pretty nice list. Colbie definitely has a lazy day relaxing effect. And cute, too. I'd probably throw in Regina Spektor and Ingrid Michaelson.

My sister saw both Alicia, Beyonce and Norah in concert on two different occasions. She said Alicia and Beyonce were fabulous and knew how to keep the crowd interested while Norah had a nice voice but was so dull. She apparently didn't get up from her piano at all. My sister and her friend left half way through lol

I didn't know Joss Stone was white until I saw her video lol

@MrsData: LMAO
Yea Norah isn't really a great performer as far as Alicia or Beyonce. Shes just great listening to in a jazzy way and all.

Guilty Pleasures (No Order)

Tumblr_ky9rasmozj1qb4baso1_500
1. Good Burger- The movie that reminds me of my favoirte summer '98. This movie is so bad its good. I can watch it all day and never grow tired of it. Kenan Thompson is one of my idols and this move proves why.
2. Land of the Lost - Not a great flick, but for some reason the more I watch the more I find funny.
3. Reno 911! Miami - The series was great the movie was a bit absurd, but damn it I love it!
4. Blankman - Before Kick-Ass and Defendor there was Blankman! lol
5. Just Friends - I dunno about this one, but It's a movie I can never get enough of during the holidays. Especially Anna Faris and Ryan Reynolds.
6. The Incredible Shrinking Woman - A odd movie starring Lily Tomlin, but the fact that a person can shrink form using a combination og household chemicals intrigued me.
7. Inner Space - Yea a classic odd ball sc-fi movie!
8. Screwed - Probably the worst movie on my list, but it stsrs Dave Chappelle and Norm McDonald. So hilarious at times.
9. The Bench Warmers - It's about baseball and it's rather funny, so sue me.
10. How to lose a Guy in 10 Days - yup, yup
11. 3 Ninjas - Some of the worst acting and fight scenes, but as a kid I loved it.
12. Billie Jean- Just like Nite Owl said about it playing so much back in the 80's. Plus it's where I first learned a little bit about womens monthly visitor, lol

I loved Keenan and Kel on Nick. They had the best shit growing up and other than Kel "being dead" (love that one), Thompson is still churning out funny from what I can tell from SNL clips. As for LAND OF THE LOST, I'm not the world's biggest Will Ferrell fan, but I actually dug that movie. I don't know why it didn't do better.

Movies, Shows and other things my Dad introduced to me

20090821-staypuft
1. Ghostbusters- I was only 2-3 years old when it was in theaters so I had no clue or idea about this movie. My dad recorded it on VHS (ol skool) sometime later when it was on HBO, and well the rest is history.
2. Seinfeld- The greatest sitcom of all time. I knew about the show as a youth but didn't start watching until the 8th or 9th season. One of the first episodes I watched was a rerun of "The Hamptons." Of course If you know that show you know how great that episode turned out. And I've been obsessed ever since.
3. Beverly Hills Cop- Intorduced me to the legend (of the 80's). Everytime I hear that theme song and hear Eddie's laugh I think of my dad.
4. Executive Decision- Growing up I wasn't all that hardcore into movies like I am now. My dad was the one that got me to sit down and watch this movie.
5. Baseball- The first professional sporting event I ever attended and the first one I ever played. Its my No.1 favorite sport.
6. Jazz- Yea this goes w/o saying
7. Surround Sound- I often forget that my dad was the first person I knew (obviously) that had a kickin sound system. He the ultimate hooke up two major speakers up front and the rear speakers. He always wanted the lights down and the sound alllll the way up!
8. Hockey- I know it's hard to believe, but my dad was the one to get me into hockey. I was surprised to know as a kid that my dad actually watched some hockey. Hell he took me and my bro to some minor league type games in San Diego. Still to this day if you know my father, you'd be really surprised to know he was into hockey.
9. Movies- The man who had hundreds of VHS tapes. Either recorded or bought, he had a ton of movies. I remember growing up and being able to find plenty of movies to watch. Hell he probably doesn't know this but I found a recorded copy of the 80's movie Hard Bodies, lol. Yea I think that was the first nudy movie I rememebr watching, lol. My dad introduced me to cinematic movies as a young kid and I'll neve forget it.
10. How to be Man...

FRINGE and BIG BANG THEORY are both outstanding shows, not a big T.V. guy either, but I know what I like. A couple of great suggestions above, BREAKING BAD(Vitamin man8) and DEXTER ( Freddy Kreuger) both great shows worth checking out.

If you can think of others let me know...
I was going to list Minority Report, Apollo 13 and Saving Private Ryan but those titles come out later this year. Along with Lord of the Rings.

Totally agree with the Alien movies...they will look great, except maybe for Aliens...the grainiest of the series, I won't hope for crystal clear quality there. They also need to update the Nightmare on Elm Street collection to Blu-ray, too. So far only the first is getting the treatment.
