"I would [play Bond], but I don't want to be called the first black James Bond... Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond. So if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond." - Idris to CNN

BOOM
Chillin'Idris would fucking kill it for sure. But the only way he doesn't get called "the first black Bond" is if he's the second black guy to do it, unfortunately.
Well, yea. But in this regard he wants to keep the whole "first" thing down a notch. Ya know?
@MJZ I totally get what he is saying and I agree. Its just not realistically going to happen. And Idris is kind of wrong when he says "Craig isn't called the first blue eyed" Bond because the internet went absolute ape shit when they found out he was blonde
it would be neat but uh... Idris, dude... Daniel Craig IS the blonde-Bond, Connery is the scottish-Bond, nothing wron with that
that would be pretty awesome. except there is no way of avoiding being called "the first black bond"
He would own the role of Bond and is my personal choice for the role. Like CK said, there's noway around being called the first black james bond after Craig was blasted for being blonde, it's just going to happen. Maybe it won't necessarily be a bad thing since they can use it as a symbol for breaking a race precedent with the character.
What's fucked up about it is, as excellent as Elba is, if he were cast as Bond, people would be in an uproar over it. Probably moreso than when Craig was first cast. And they would call him "The first Black Bond" in a heartbeat. BUT, he still would rock at it, I already know.
^for sure, I mean basically round 2 of what happened when he was cast in Thor.
Yeah, he would be awesome as Bond, but he'd have that stigma attached to him. It would've been similar if they did go forward with Donald Glover for Spider-Man.

I won't lie, Idris would be a fuckin fantastic Bond.
