Plot: 'Kick-Ass' tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There's only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes -- including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) -- and forges a friendship with another fledgling superhero, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong), that new alliance will be put to the test.

Review:

I was really looking forward to seeing Kick-Ass when it was released. The trailers to it looked great, along with the horde of amazing reviews claiming "Kick-Ass was Kick Ass!!" I am not sure if I was let down because my expectations were so high, or just that I am tired of seeing all these geeky actors star in these movies. Its been the "in" thing to do lately it seems with Juno, Superbad, Zombieland, Adventureland, and Youth in Revolt. They all just start off like a geek in them all and as the movie progresses they get some balls somewhere along the line. So having the main character AND another super nerd (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) I think was a bit much for me. I will say this though, I thought Nicolas Cage did well for his part. Him and his daughter of the movie I thought worked well together and were pretty funny. Had a few good laughs here and there, but overall I definitely was disappointed with what I was hearing. In the end I would say the movie is worth a rental.
