I saw Maniac yesterday. I've got to say, it was pretty impressive, shocking and disturbing. Great job by Elijah and the score was absolutely terrific! It feels a bit too "artsy" at times, though, and the point of the movie is kind of lost on me. Was it just to evoke these emotions I've mentioned in me?

I got better and finally the review for The Dark Knight Rises is on-line. Next up is Prometheus but I guess I need to rest my fingers before I'll get to it.

The Dark Knight Rises

Dark-night-rises-2

Written by: Jonathan Nolan
Cast: Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman
Studio: Warner Bros
Genre: Action, Comic Book, Crime

Plot: I decided an epic conclusion needs a longer review and... I'm sorry it got so bloated, I just had a lot of stuff I wanted to mention.

^ Yep, and what's most important, it gets better with each viewing - originally I gave it a very kind 9/10.

Personal update: I'm after my first bike accident and I'm on too many painkillers to write an essay about what I've watched. And I do have two big reviews - Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises. I'll just give my scores for both for now - they're 8/10 and 9/10 respectively. As for TDKR it's not as great as I hoped it would be (it's not the second coming :) but it's probably my favorite movie this year thus far. I still have to do some rewatching of Prometheus, Cabin in the Woods and TDKR though.

Is Dead Snow worth checking out? I've heard some mix stuff on it.

LelekPL
LelekPL at 03:13 PM Jul 17

It has some great moments but it also has some dull momements and few likeable characters. All in all I'd say it's decent and I guess only the top 10 of my list I would say are really good movies and only the top 5 I loved, so take that as it is, but you probably should check it out. Especially since you're horrorfan23 ;)

Solid placement, 1 and 2 are accurate and JGTH takes its rightful place at the bottom of the heap.

LelekPL at 02:54 PM Jul 13

Thanks man, I thought it might be considred a little controversial since the original is so low, but to be honest I never was the biggest fan of it. The again, I do think that the top 9 are all good entries in the series and even Jason X is a guilty pleasure

HarkonnenAmongYou
HarkonnenAmongYou at 03:02 PM Jul 13

Part 1 isn't a favorite of mine either and I stand firm in saying many of the sequels surpass it in quality. Sorry, Sean Cunningham, you're kind of a one trick pony.

Cochise

agreed Lelek, didn't find it so-bad-it's-good either, just plain bad overall. When it did try to be funny though, like the opening Bar scene, I thought it did a pretty damn good job. Still, saying the best part about your big summer action blockbuster is the comedic points isn't exactly the best compliment.

Nolan's first for me was Begins as well, and I hated it. I wasn't expecting to think that much.
