The Snyder news is pretty gruesome. That's one of the worst things that can happen to a parent so his decision doesn't surprise me one bit. Completely justified. But the substitution raises interesting questions. Perhaps we might get a look into who the idea maker for this franchise for the future will be. If it's indeed Whedon, I hope they give him a soft reboot to work with, a cleaner slate, no batfleck and cavill baggage.

My hope is that this latest development demonstrates that Whedon and Snyder's filmmaking sensibilities are not mutually exclusive. Surely Joss knows better than to try and completely pave over the groundwork Zack has already laid.

It's 8 in the morning, the marathon has ended. I loved Prometheus and Alien. Aliens was good but I kept snoozing a little at the end. Covenant however was bad! I'm really disappointed with what they did with the Prometheus cliffhanger. They also didn't manage to give the film the classic slow burn Alien vibe. If you didn't like the characters in Prometheus, I have no words to describe how poorly developed they are here. Prometheus, Alien or Aliens had very memorable characters, in Covenant only Fassbender shines but even his main character is poorly written and with a terrible twist you see miles away!

I'm currently at an Alien Movie Marathon in a local cinema. Just rewatched Prometheus - loved it. I think it's a highly underrated entry in the franchise. Covenant is next. Heard mixed things so expectations are lowered but after that I'm watching the original Alien and later Aliens. I'm really excited to see those two at the cinema for the first time!

I'd go to an ALIEN marathon in a theater for 1-3...

Then call it day

What is this world that I live in where a TV-adaptation of the Defenders has a better trailer than the cinematic Justice League? :P This might be the comic book show that I'll actually watch, other than The Punisher. I've only seen Daredevil season 2, so I hope I'll be able to appreciate the Defenders without watching the other ones.

Marvel definitely has figured out the formula both in TV & film. DCEU still trying to figure it the hell out. Aside from their animated films, DC remains consistently inconsistent. (Or in some people's views downright awful)

LelekPL
LelekPL at 11:39 PM May 03

I heard some of Marvel's shows are pretty awful as well. I don't really watch them but this one looks pretty sweet.

As for DC, yeah, I'm one of those people. They've been really terrible recently. Even the animated films are bad or meh. And this is coming from a longtime DC guy.

LelekPL updated his STATUS: 26 days ago

But seriously, fuck MTV Movie Awards for spoiling Get Out in their villain nomination! I mean, it would have been obvious without it, but the film still treats this like a twist. If they wanted to nominate a villain from that film, they should have nominated the family and not single out this character.
JohnLocke2342
JohnLocke2342 at 05:35 AM May 03

Yeah that was a great twist that the movie sells wholeheartedly so fuck them

LelekPL updated his STATUS: 26 days ago

I was finally able to see GET OUT and I wasn't disappointed. I love myself some body snatcher films and continuing with the tradition of those movies, this one also has something to say about our society. What's great is that it's a unique voice. Really cool idea, well directed cast, nice cinematography, good selection of music (god, I love "Redbone"). I wouldn't put it over Logan but it's easily my second favorite movie of the year thus far (actually, of the last two years). 9/10

Damn, another loss. Silence and Philadelphia are both in my top films of all-time. I love those flicks. Maybe I'll watch Demme's remake of the Manchurian Candidate today. Is it worth a watch?

I really wanted to see a Hobbs spin-off movie after Fast Five... but by now, they've completely botched his character. In Fast 8 he was just absurd. There was no excitment in his action scenes, just ridiculousness. The soccer coach was also cringeworthy. I liked him when he was Tommy Lee Jones with muscles and not this indestructible behemoth with a golden heart. A tough as nails, no nonsense Hobbs is a film I'd much rather see.
oscarxp25
oscarxp25 at 08:29 AM Apr 22

Even for the tone of these movies that soccer scene was stupid and lame.

TheChanges23
TheChanges23 at 12:38 PM Apr 22

You never know, they might go back to that for the spin-off.

Dear god, Big Little Lies was so addictive and great. I've finished it in two days. The ending is a bit of a letdown since it was a bit obvious since episode 3... and some storylines don't get a proper closure. But other than that, I really loved it. Great acting from everyone, great characters and most drama felt like real drama. That's life - comedy mixed with tragedy
