I've also seen Murder on the Orient Express at the cinema. A completely useless remake. It does nothing with the story, so if you have seen the Sidney Lumet version, there's nothing in this for you. The cinematography is good... and that's about it.

I've read that there are some cool suspense tactics used in the filming of the remake sort of paying tribute to Lumet's film. I'll check out the remake at some point just to see how it compares.

New BATMAN candidates

With batfleck most likely coming to an end, I thought about a couple of actors who could take his place.

I assumed they're going to do a "soft reboot" with the use of Flashpoint or just an origin story; or a a straight up reboot of the character (depends on how well JL does at the BO). Whatever the case may be, I think we're gonna get a younger Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves' film.

So these are my potential candidates:
6. Dan Stevens - loved him in The Guest. He has a dark side to him that would be interesting.

5. Garrett Hedlund - I think he's a very talented actor who already had some great performances and he held his own against Jeff Bridges in TRON.

4. Boyd Holbrook - I'll be honest, I chose him based on only one movie, Logan, but he really impressed me in that and he might be a much bigger name after The Predator comes out.

3. Wes Bentley - he's also a very talented dude, who probably looks the most like Bruce Wayne out of the bunch (it's funny that all the other guys are blond... but that's when you get a hair dye). He got the dark and brooding thing down. He'd definitely need to join a gym, though.

2. Jake Gyllenhaal - already an accomplished actor and easily the most talented out of the bunch. Recently, he has already been rumored to be Batman. His only downside is that I'd rather him to be Joker... but then again, I thought the same thing about Christian Bale... and Michael Keaton. So that should be a good omen.

1. Armie Hammer - easily the best candidate in my opinion. He's got the body for it and even lifeexperience he can draw upon (he's from a wealthy family). Not to mention judging by Call Me By Your Name and The Social Network he's also super talented. And he already was cast as BATMAN in the cancelled Justice League movie.

This is all taking a reboot into account and younger actors. If DC would be adamant on staying with an older Batman for some reason, I have a couple of other suggestions:
- Karl Urban
- Hugh Jackman
- Alexander Skarsgaard
- Idris Elba
- Liev Schreiber
- Michael Fassbender
- and... this guy
(hey, stranger things have happened in the comics!)

The newest episode of The Orville is easily its worst. Still, this show has delivered so much other than that. People should really get on it.

AND a new live-action Star Wars TV-show! WOW!

Regarding the new Star Wars trilogy: They could have waited with this news until The Last Jedi is out and we see the film and whether Johnson is worth it... but a new trilogy is exciting nonetheless. Especially since it's not connected to the main saga and it's something completely new and fresh.

Wow, these Justice League clips look fucking terrible. Inhumans levels of terrible. I still give Joss a shot at saving the film a little bit... but I mainly have my fingers crossed for a reboot. PLEASE! Do the DCU right, PLEASE!

The Sexual Harrassment Scandals

Obviously, they are really terrible and I have much respect for the victims who decided to come out and some sympathy for the victims who were afraid and quiet.

But with recent news of Bryan Singer, there is a silver lining to these news: So far, all the people that were singled out in the media, are people we already suspected of immoral behavior. People who were even accused of it in the past so nothing really came as a big shock. Weinstein, Spacey, Rattner, Richardson, Bush and now Singer. These are all familiar names.

My fear was that one of these days we'll get somebody like Bill Cosby, who used to be the father figure for a whole generation. And yet, nothing like that really happened. If there is some terrible news like that about Tom Hanks or Steve Carell, that would be a real gut punch. Fortunately, that not being the case, still keeps the hope these monsters are still a very loud minority.

I mean sure, we had Ben Affleck, but his thing was really minor, and Dustin Hoffman, who other than being known as a douche before, only had one instance, many years ago, that is impossible to prove now. I'm not saying that "one time is ok". I'm just saying that I need more allegations to assume guilt. I've seen "The Hunt", I saw what a false allegation like that can do to somebody's life.

Halloween (2018)

After rewatching Season of the Witch for Halloween, I'm really disappointed that they haven't gone the anthology route with Halloween. I think it could have been fantastic instead of making Michael into some unkillable zombie Jason rip-off. I watched both SotW and Trick R Treat today and I couldn't stop but think that a new creepy Halloween movie every couple of years would have been great.

That being said, since this new movie completely ignores the sequels, I'm down for Laurie and Michael coming back. At first the reports have said that it included Halloween II but now they say it doesn't - which is a BIG deal, because HII was the most influential film on the rest of the franchise's stroytelling. I'd be fine either way, though. Halloween II was great but the concept of the Shape worked better as a stalker of random babysitters.

I'm just glad the rest of the sequels will be ignored (well, H20 was actually pretty alright)

The one thing that will be missed? Donald Pleasance! To me, his character was more the heart of those films than Laurie or even Michael. It wouldn't be as good if it wasn't for Doctor Loomis.
