Iron Man 2 proves to be a worthy sequel although not as brilliant as the first, but considering it was nothing more than a setup for "The Avengers" where they allowed themselves to shamelessly advertise for the freak of nature film to come *hate hate rant hate hate*, it really wasent as bad.
Downey is as brilliant as ever as Tony Stark, and most of the remaining cast is also very well rounded. Rourke does a great job with Ivan Vanko, and Paltrow, beautiful as always as Pepper Potts.
But while theres two characters i really liked, theres also two characters id like to place on a rocket and fly into space, byebye. Samuel L. Jackson is just STUPID in his role as mr. stick-up-his-ass Nick Fury, and Scarlett Johansson is acting (or is she) like a bitch, how new and refreshing.....
So, to sum up, hated the Avengers advertising. It makes it less entertaining as the first, but the Iron Man franchise is still doing better as a superhero film than a lot of the other ones nowadays.

I on the other hand, was impressed. After all the bashing, I expected another Spidey 3. But this was at least coherent and action packed. Maybe it did have too much, but it's better than not enough.
failed to live up to movie 1? yeah. but not a bad sequel by any means. honestly, i think i wouldve like the movie a LOT more if the money shots weren't in the trailers (briefcase armor reveal, the back to back gunfight with war machine). also the last battle was anticlimatic.
The hate for this movie is so overblown. It may not be a great movie like the first, but that doesn't automatically make it a bad movie. It's still one of the better superhero movies of the past decade, and I'll gladly take this movie over Wolverine, FF4, Spider-Man 3 and Green Lantern any day.
I honestly didnt know it was a film people love to hate. Ive only heard good things about it, and it pleased me that they gave it the same feel and touch as the first one. The hate from my side (and im not even sure its hate, since i gave the film 8/10 anyway) is purely out of spite for The Avengers, and that it sometimes felt like they were getting ready to pull Iron Man out of this film and into a new one. Shame shame shame.
My favaourite aspect was the music score. John Debney's music was great.
What Nite Owl said.. It's not bad by any means, it just takes a step back from the original when people were expecting a second entry along the lines of The Dark Knight.
I completely agree with you! The film just has a different tone when its Tony interacting with the SHIELD crew vs. Tony just interacting with his crew (Pepper, Hogan, and Rhodey). And I much prefer the latter. The parts that drag and feel out of place are when it's just Tony and Fury, or Tony, Fury and Widow.

I wasn't too impressed with this to be honest. I thought it was the perfect example of how to fuck up a sequel. There's too much going on. Horrible pace. I don't hate it but as a sequel to such a strong first film this was a dissapointment.
