The Japaneese Wife (Movie Review)
And I though I Knew about long distance relationships.
The Japanese wife is a movie that I was trying to see in my country online, but at the end I could not do it. Walking in the streets of Kolkata there are movies for sale around.. but not English Subtitles... at least where I am living right now, but in a little store I found this treasure so I got it.
The Japanese wife tells the story of two lovely birds who met by correspondence, become friends, fall in love and get married by letters, they have been married for 15 years and yet, they have never met. During the course of those letters I enjoyed so much the interchange of culture between them, the struggling for the language, the difficult of communication, the misunderstandings, but also, the care, love and high respect they had for each other. It was really nice to see the story of two individuals like anyone of us, who had a tough life but they hold themselves in their love for each other. Yet the movie had a very strong and twisted end that gave me a sense of hope mixed with sacrifice.
