I just caught the first episode of Marvel's Avengers Assemble on iTunes for free (thanks randychico!) and I gotta say that I dug it for the most part. It's more or less an animated version of the big screen Avengers team with references to that universe which makes it feel like an adaptation of sorts. The voice acting is a mixed bag since some of it sounds really similar to the actors (Renner/Hemsworth) but some just sound so weird (Stark mostly, with Cap too). I only watched a couple of episodes of Earth's Mightiest Heroes so I can't compare them but in this one the action was relentless and stylistically satisfying and they even brought in the Thor/Hulk feud from the movie... I enjoyed it for what it was and will give the first season a shot.

I was never a huge Bond fan, but this teaser makes me the most excited for a Bond film since GoldenEye, or maybe ever. Beautiful work by Deakins, as always. This has the potential to be the best movie in the series, even if I'm not that big of a Craig fan in the role.

I have additional 7 days to wait. But when that they will come it's time for a 150 mile trip to Warsaw to see it in IMAX along with Prometheus which comes out a week before Batman over here. This could be the best double-feature in my life

We've been talking a lot about Black Panther recently and he's also my choice (along with Mockingbird and maybe Ms. Marvel) as the next addition to our Avengers team. If they ever give it the green light I'd love to see Djimon Honsou in the role. He's an Oscar-nominated actor that has the dramatic chops and action experience to not only convincingly kick the shit out of people but also suck us into the character's growth. Plus he already voiced T'Challa in Marvel's 12 episode Black Panther motion comic series, so he has experience with the character. Photobucket

Fassbender is so goddam brilliant, I can't. He's in the discussion of "who's the best actor out there right now" and he's signed on for two more movies as fucking MAGNETO. This makes my insides all tingly.
Threat Poet

I kept freaking out at how much Tom Hiddleston looks like him and vice versa during "The Avengers". Heck, even my nephew thought Loki was the same guy that played Magneto.

the music is great in it I'll give it that. The movie was good, just had a few too many flaws that held it back from being great. Still though like I said in my review, it's definitely the prequel to American Psycho ;)

It seems like The Avengers took a ton of energy out of Joss Whedon and I really hope that Marvel handles this in the most responsible way possible. Whedon needs to come back for the sequel, period.. even for a "trilogy" if that's what they have planned. Marvel needs to take a page from Warner Brothers and let Joss do what they did with Nolan, which was allowing him to make a passion project in between each Batman flick to keep his mind fresh and engaged to the trilogy. Forcing Joss into the sequel right away when he clearly wants to explore other options first is a bad idea.... let's hope for the future's sake that they come through for both the fans and the film franchise.
speederice
speederice at 08:42 PM May 16

Here here! I cringe at the idea of the fan revolt at Marvel's doorstep if Whedon is lost...

Nite Owl
Nite Owl at 10:05 PM May 16

I have confidence it'll all work out. The sequel is still a few years out because they have all the solo films to do first. Right now it's like asking someone who just ran a marathon if they want to do it again. So we'll see what happens in a year or so when Whedon has gotten a bit of rest and the creative juices begin to bubble up inside of him again. Remember Nolan said he wasn't sure if he wanted to return for another Batman film after TDK, but here we are counting down the days until his next one releases.

Terminal_83
Terminal_83 at 10:06 PM May 16

I want them to introduce Antman and Wasp, personally. I don't like the fact that they're thinking of introducing Scarlet Witch without her X-Men link.

Again - we could go back and forth on this forever and still be in the same positions, each unmoved in our beliefs. That is part of the reason why this movie is so fantastic.

That being said - they never said in limbo you don't have to go through the levels, people assumed that because of the end of the movie. Though its pretty ridiculous to go into a normal dream or dream into a dream and you have to exit at the exact second or else you go into the dreaded "limbo" but if you do go into limbo just simply kill yourself and your fine. Just doesn't fit with the rest of the movie IMO.

JohnLocke2342
JohnLocke2342 at 08:01 PM May 17

^ I thought that you couldn't just kill yourself in limbo though, and because they were so deep (deeper than Mal and Cobb were) they couldn't just off themselves..that's why Leo and Saito were SO OLD at the end of the movie, because they were wondering around limbo for so long that it felt like hundreds of years when it was only minutes on the plane. Cobb waited until until the side effects wore off from the dosage and were able to "awaken" from limbo.

This is from bits and piece of Nolan interviews and an Inception wikipedia page: "At some unspecified point in time before the Fischer Inception Job began, Cobb and Mal were performing experiments to see how deep they could travel within their minds. Eventually they manually dreamt themselves into Limbo. Here they were able to create a perfect environment together and feel like gods. Eventually, the couple began to build from their memories, making the distinction between reality and dream more difficult to distinguish. Over time, Cobb became dissatisfied with Limbo because he knew that it was not real, while Mal was beginning to accept it as her reality. Mal would not accept that she was asleep so Cobb was forced to perform Inception on her, planting the idea in her mind that her world was not real. At this point Mal was filled with enough doubt to allow her and Cobb to kill themselves on train tracks in order to wake up. After waking, the idea Cobb planted in her mind was still growing and Mal still believed she was dreaming. Eventually, she committed suicide in an attempt to wake up. The guilt of knowing that his Inception caused her to kill herself continues to haunt Cobb."

This is from actor Dileep Rao about the ending "Yeah. I don't think the "It's all a dream" theory makes much sense to me, because where is "the real" Cobb? We never see n. We never see reality. We have no idea who this man is, what his circumstances are. Close your eyes and listen to the sound at the end. I really do think the top wobbles and that it's real. Cobb does go on a journey, because that's what movies are, and I think that's what leads audiences to this kind of speculation. Because of the story he chose to tell, Nolan is also commenting on the nature of stories themselves, all stories, which is why Leo's change can't be evidence that it's all a dream.

To me, the real story all boils down to Saito's line in the helicopter. Leo wants to go home and see his kids. Saito says, "I can help you, but it'll have to be an act of faith." Leo has to trust Saito, and he does this while putting total faith in himself and the team, and everything goes apeshit wrong, but he has to believe that if he does the job, Saito will do what he promised. And they've grown, they've become friends, which is why Leo says "Come back and let's be young men together." Leo's follow-through on that act of faith is his transformation. He becomes a person who can take a chance."

Now after allllllll of that I can STILL SEE your side of reasoning lol.. that's what makes the movie brilliant, just like you said.

xwing16 at 04:53 PM May 19
