^ It's apparently harsher than Martyrs. I'll watch it this week and let you know.
JFernandes, I can assure you it is DEFINITELY harsher than Martyrs, but apparently the version coming out next week has been cut by four minutes. The uncut version is out there online, if you want to do some sleuthing.
No sleuthing necessary. It's been available to me since December. I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet.
Yep, I think you just about covered it. As I said before, there wasn't a single likeable or interesting character to root for in this film.
Well written and mostly reasons why I'm waiting for a while before seeing this monstrosity. Thanks John.
True be to all. also i think you saw the "Thing" revealed too early.
I love me some MEW but i just didnt feel here control the room in the first part where she they found out what it is.
I on the other hand did find Lars likeable a bit.
The effects were good though, right on that
I'm watching the extras on the DVD, and they mention Carpenter shot an alternate ending that shows Russell back in civilization, getting a blood test done to prove he's human. It was supposed to be the 'happy ending' as a back-up. Has anyone ever seen this?
I always thought a more grim ending would be Russell and Keith David getting rescued, immediately sent to the hospital to get tested. They stare at each other with suspicion the whole time. Just as they're about to verify who's human, the screen goes black and you hear that creepy squeal and the doctors all freaking out.
Either way, I believe 'Childs' got infected by Blair.
I probably shouldn't have watched the original before seeing the premake.
``and welcome back to reality where Jack and Jill has come in at #1 at the box office over the weekend with $20 million, covering it's $3 budget and then some already``
The movie came out already? I wouldn't underestimate the stupidity of American audiences. At this point they'll pay 20 bucks to see Adam Sandler take a shit.
Out of respect for Moreno who just started watching 'Breaking Bad' today, I've removed the pic from the season finale. Even though it's three days old. Even though it's all over the internet. Even though someone else will post it any second now.
Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones are the best shows on tv right now IMO... and if the way this seasons ended is any indication, next year will be an insane journey for Walter White. Can't wait.
Breaking Bad has already kicked the shit out of Lost and Sopranos who completely overstayed their welcome. It'll give The Wire a run for its money.
i'm sure there will be bitching, but those are all losers who have nothing better to do, who have nothing serious to complain about.
When I first saw the trailer for Superman, I didn't go: "That suit looks dumb, the flying scenes aren't epic enough, why is there an 'S' on his dad's shirt, Ned Beatty looks like lame comic relief, and there should be more villains besides Luther." I went "Holy shit, a fucking SUPERMAN movie is coming!"
When I first saw the trailer for The Empire Strikes back, I didnt' go: "What did they do to Leia's hair? What was that weird puppet thing? Why are there scenes with snow ... I hate snow." I went "Holy shit, there's a fucking STAR WARS SEQUEL coming!"
Flash forward more than 30 years ... when I watched today's trailer, I went "Holy shit, there's a fucking AVENGERS movie coming!"
I hate the cynical, nitpicking, never satisfied, always bitching mentality of today's 'new' movie fan. Count me out. See the thing first, then let's debate. Until then ... enjoy the fact a movie NO ONE ever thought would be made is being made.
Yep, i agree with ya Law, this movie not only sucked balls, but big and old donkey balls too. Almost everything from this movie feels desperate, half-assed and so far removed from the greatness that was and is Scream.
As ironic and deconstructive as 'Scream' was, it was still very much a horror movie - the last great one Wes Craven will ever make, apparently. 'Scream 4' tries to make up for the absolutely NOTHING it has to offer by constantly reminding the audience it KNOWS it's a reboot, it KNOWS it's supposed to suck, it KNOWS what you're all thinking. Stop reminding me how shitty you are and just BE a fucking movie. This was like watching old people having sex ... back in the day they were pretty hot, but now it's just nauseating.

Nice work......
