People will always bitch and moan about something. They could be in Disney World, getting a BJ from Olivia Wilde dressed as Snow White while eating buffalo wings out of her nacho sombrero, and still bitch about there being not enough bleu cheese chunks in their dipping sauce.

The 'unpopular opinion' this week is to say you love The Amazing Spider-man! http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/this-week-in-blu-ray-dvd-releases-amazing-spider-man-rec-3-they-live

Tonally it was a huge improvement over the Raimi films, I would like to see a Directors cut though. I think most of that movie ended up on the cutting room floor at the request/insistence of the studio.

Yeah, I see that the Strike Backers are passionately expressing in droves. Sorry that they are being a pack of weenies.

BUT, everyone knows that The Amazing Spider-Man is much debated actually. Therefore yes, some hate the film (myself included). Others love the film. Just understand, there are about 47% of Schmoes that you're never going to convince. . . . . JK, JK.

Strikebackers are actually being pretty cool - disagreeing but stating their reasons why. It's much worse some other weeks.

Re: Dark Knight Rises ending: Needless to say ... **HUGE ASS SPOILERS** - - - Now then ... I thought the ending was pretty clear: Batman died sacrificing himself for the city. It wasn't until I started reading other people's take on the ending that it started getting cloudy, regarding that brief scene where Alfred sees Bruce and Selina at the cafe. I didn't take that scene as literal. I thought it was a symbolic throwback to the scene earlier in the movie when Alfred spoke about seeing Bruce at a cafe some day and just nodding, content he was finally happy. I didn't think he ACTUALLY saw Bruce there, he was just dwelling on that thought. But it appears some people are convinced that scene was real - that Wayne survived or escaped the explosion and is now kicking it in the carribean. That doesn't wash with me because at no point did Nolan hint Batman bolted from the 'The Bat' or put it on autopilot. We were still seeing him flying it just seconds before the nuke w...

Heh heh .. let's just say the ambiguity of the whole thing can satisfy both camps. It really is Inception all over again though, isn't it?

Cochise
Cochise at 10:47 AM Jul 23

see I actually think it would've been a better ending if it had been more quick-cut-to-black like Inception's ending instead of what they did. I mean just have the scene with Alfred sitting down at the cafe... then have him look up, camera on him the whole time, then have him nod and begin to smile then cut to black. I think that would've been better but hey, I didn't make the movie haha

Nite Owl
Nite Owl at 11:33 PM Jul 25

I see it as him being alive because it's a similar ending to The Dark Knight Returns, which was a major influence on this movie where Bruce Wayne fakes his death and literally goes underground in the cave to train an army of Batmen from former gang members. He doesn't stay around to train them in the movie, opting for a normal life instead, but Wayne Manor becomes home to a bunch of orphans and Blake finds the cave. So you could assume Blake ends up as the next Batman, and hand picks orphans to train that have violence in their past like he and Wayne did to keep the legacy alive.

Expected a lot of things from 'Dark Knight Rises' - man tears at the end wasn't one of them. What a classic. It's over Hollywood, leave Batman alone. No one will ever top this. It is uncanny how Nolan completely NAILED the Batman I have always wanted to see on the big screen since I was a kid. These weren't just superhero movies, they were about something. They are modern mythology. A long, three-part story well told. We just saw Batman done to perfection.
Vampjezzc
Vampjezzc at 08:13 AM Jul 22

I also didn't expect to tear up during the movie, I have never been a huge fan of Batman but Nolan made him so much more than just a comic book hero. Nolan's Dark Knight was about a man on a journey, being a hero was just part of that journey, he made it reach the realm of epic storytelling and not just a comic book film. I sincerely hope he is rewarded for this trilogy with more than just fan praise.

I was a good 180 pages into Stephen King's '12/22/63' before I realized the entire first section of the book takes place in the same town as 'It.' The giveaway was that creepy-as-hell scene inside the fallen chimney. Love when writers do stuff like this.

You know, 'Alien' was Rated R and that one turned out okay. Made a mint, became a classic, and spawned an entire franchise for Fox. Would that film be nearly as iconic had it been watered down for a PG? Do studios think longterm, anymore? I'd rather make something with longevity than try to make an extra $10 million on opening weekend.
Terminal_83
Terminal_83 at 10:48 AM May 07

It's not about the big picture anymore. It's about getting a quick return on their investment, now. It's a damn shame this aversion to he R rating is so rampant.

YoshioKun13
YoshioKun13 at 10:53 AM May 07

I am glad it's R.

Weapon X
Weapon X at 04:51 PM May 07

Sadly, quality of product alone doesn't sell a film anymore, and that's what studios are largely concerned with.

Jawdropping as 'Avengers' box office was, beating 'Avatar' is a tall order. Cameron's movie - like 'Titanic' before it - had a much broader appeal which brought people to theatres who wouldn't normally go. Your grandparents could go see 'Avatar' and enjoy it. The only thing they'd get out of 'Avengers' is a headache.
Terminal_83
Terminal_83 at 05:47 AM May 07

Neither was Avatar's.

I don't hate Avatar. It had amazing special effects. Just abysmal everything else.

MovieFreak47022
MovieFreak47022 at 11:21 AM May 19

I took my dad and my mom to this movie each on their own (they've been divorced forever) and I think this movie has just as much appeal as Avatar because both enjoyed it thoroughly. Disney's behind it, which obviously added a large built-in fanbase, but this film has a fun factor that is much more self-evident from the trailers than it was in the Avatar promotions. I don't think Avengers is going to have too tough a time dethroning Avatar.

The Walking Dead: I've never seen a show so difficult to make and apparently so difficult to watch. Will people ever stop bitching and just enjoy it for what it is? You want terrible television, try sitting through five minutes of 'Are You There, Chelsea'? You'll want to kill yourself.
