well you learn somethin new everyday ;) I didn't know it was being hunted, and if it's either torture and death or being held in captivity, the ladder is the obvious better option, so there's that at least. I guess I take back what I said, I would've only been mad if they had just captured it and held it for no reason, but seeing as that's not the case it's actually good what they're doing, god knows whoever was hunting it wouldn't have just killed the animal.

I agree with JL's take on generating money for the socia-economic instabilities of a region in crisis but I wholeheartedly disagree with mans need for the "retaliation kill." I'm not talking about domesticated animals, if they're living in a controlled environment and rabid/dangerous then they gotta be put down. I'm explicitely opposed to the hunting and killing of deadly animals in US national parks or the unprotected wild. A recent story from Australia comes to mind where the authorities were hunting a shark that killed a surfer. Come on people! This isn't personal! I don't mean to sound reductive, I'm sure the losses are horrifically tragic but it's a risk people willingly take when they enter into the food-chain. But my girlfriend grew up in the Philippine's and I've heard of the third world countries "unique" perils of coexisting with a fucking SPINOSAURUS. In which case, for protection, the animal needs to be subdued and relocated if possible (or apprehended for the local circus show in this case).
