I'm super jealous of all the cool interviews you've gotten to do! Who was your favorite?
Just had a fantastic interview with an awesome surprise guest for the The Good, the Bad and the JoBlo movie podcast! Once again I am in love... with Moreno and Law of course.
Jimmy! Where's your Best of 2011 list? Would love to read it!!
Here ya go... http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/lists-top-10-movies-of-2011-according-to-jimmyo
Let me know what you think. It was a hard list to put together, a lot of good movies out there last year.
Yo Jimmy! How have things been lately buddy? Sorry I didn't get back to you before. My October had shit all to do with watching movies or anything even remotely fun. I'm repeating myself at this point but I was action, thrills and chills moving apartments.
Now that I'm settled in I've been putting most of my time outside of work and art projects setting up the media room. My one and only sacred place. Just finished showing my younger sister In Bruges. She had never witnessed its brilliance. Took her two sittings, some extra determination and focus (more than she's used to with all her Eddie Murphy and Sandler comedies). I also had to unravel some key thematic points that went over her head *SPOILERS* In Bruges = Ray's purgatory/limbo/place of equalizing judgement *END SPOILERS* But she's starting to appreciate film in a way she hasn't before. Next up I'm introducing her to Fight Club, Moon, The Fountain and for Christmas Groundhog Day and Trading Places. So what's on your must-watch list for December? theatrical or otherwise. Take care bro and Happy Holidays to you an yours! =)
Man, I've been so busy I keep forgetting to respond. As for my holiday viewing, it was pretty minimal. It did however include Alien, Bridesmaids, Thor, Prom Night (original) and Black Christmas (original) and Humongous.
This week has been really crazy, lotsa new releases. Mostly good:)
Good work on In Bruges, really love that movie. You should add Dressed to Kill to that list... don't know why, but I'm in an old Brian DePalma mood lately. Have you seen it?
Happy New Year man!
After watching PJ20 (and reading your great review of it!) and having a greater appreciation for one of my favorite bands, I have decided to go out and buy some missing cds from them. I got into them pretty late (a few years ago) because for the longest time I hated them but I had never really listened to them! My bad, I know! So which one should I start with, Vs. or Yield? figured the advice of a massive fan would be a good place to start haha!
Vs. it is!
Halloween this year will consist of job search in the A.M. then [Rec], Halloween (with joblo podcast commentary!), Psycho and my favorite, Evil Dead! what about you?
Hey man, Halloween was mellow as hell. Simple trick or treating with the boy... but man I love simple pleasures. I also watched the original Halloween with him. Awesome!!!
ah thats so cool! how did he find halloween? watched it myself with the joblo commentary. thats one way to make a classic even more entertaining.
by the way so fucking excited to hear you say how great the muppets movie was! any word from you on tintin by the way, if youve already seen it?
Sorry for the double posting action. PJ20 must still be rattling the nerves. So what do all the Joblo cats have planned for the Halloween celebration? Any specific flicks old/new that you guys plan on revisiting or checking out?
I saw you liked Paranormal Activity 3. Glad you had fun with it. I'm not much of a fan of the series but it definitely scratches that particular itch for insta-scares. Saw it with some friends over the weekend and had a good time but was put off by all the kids describing it as a "great movie." Fun yes. The only horror movie that gets the hand-cam bullshit right? Yes. Great movie? I dunno man, I respectfully disagreed but you know, I was in the minority so I was in no place to challenge the masses at the time. Hope all is well bro!
I had a really lean list of movies to watch this Halloween. Mostly just ghost movies and a lot of Ghost Adventures. Strange but I was just in the mood.
What did you do on Halloween? Anything you are looking forward to November?
Sorry for the late reply bro. I just now checked your wall and noticed you wrote back. I'll hit you up tomorrow. Hope things are well!
Yo man, thanks again for spreading the good word on a stellar documentary. PJ20 just shot to the top of my list as one of my overall favorite doc's.
No problem dude. I understand that everyone makes writing mistakes, but that guy just basically put all of that out there to make him look "better" and I can't stand people like that. Just keep the entertaining reviews going and keep up the good work.
Fantastic Pearl Jam Twenty review my man, you spoke for me verbatim. Well since I haven't seen the film yet, I mean to say you perfectly communicated how deeply the band of that stature can affect our lives. I absolutely cannot wait to finally see it. It's great to hear you loved it!
Thanks a lot for the kind words man and I'm sorry for your loss as well. Dealing with death is never an easy thing but I found the best way to accept it is to open up and be fluid and truthful about everything.. it's helped me cope in ways far more effective then I ever thought it could. And YES that is me! LOL.. I'm glad you enjoyed them man, we hope people will look at the scenes and get a good laugh! Thanks for the words dude, and I'm glad you're back on Joblo!
I'm glad to be back my friend, it is a much healthier environment. It's sometimes difficult when asked to basically market something you don't believe in. Seriously though, I like the WTF, how often you gonna do one?
And now I just got my world rocked by They Live (that alley fight was especialyl bad ass!)
Wow! Amercian werewolf in london was so amazing. that transformations cene blew my mind. it looks astounding, even today! the sequence at the porno theater was excellent. then ending caught me off guard a bit. i was surprised to see the end credits roll up. very quick and sudden ending!
Aww, thanks! I meant that it's the first time you left a comment on any As Schmoeville Turns entry including the one where you made a camoe.
I just read my cameo (and commented)... I absolutely loved it! At least I finally got my revenge on Tom Perkins;) I seriously love your posts! And of course, Happy 4th of July!
just saw your positive quote on the back of the blu-ray of The Last Airbender... great seeing joblo.com on something no matter what
what's up dude? Long time no talk! I just wanna see how everything is going at your new job and how you're doing. Keep up the great work bro.. love your stuff
Hey, man. I hope everything's going well for you and your awesome new job at wherever-the-fuck. :) Miss your awesomeness and your 'stach, buddy. Hope you're doing well. Take care.
Just wanna officially annoint your new wall with the Best Wishes for your future coolness. You're a class act, sir.
I just saw this now... Okay, its a little behind, but you're a class act yourself man! Always have been, and always will!
We're working to get your last STATUS UPDATE back, dude. Everything that was added to the MFC got "zapped" with this update, but we ARE trying to salvage some stuff, and I know a lot of people had nice responses to your last Status Update, so let's hope it works out...
I'm back! Actually, I did cover the MTV Movie Awards today. But tomorrow...
It's all good, brother! If ya can, give me a shout out on the next JoBlo Movie Show! If ya can't, it's still all good!
See ya next year, JimmyO!
Fantastic review of Star Trek. The movie is definitely the movie to beat this summer. I haven't had that much fun in a movie in a loooong time. IMAX just made it all the sweeter.
Dude I am so pumped you loved Star Trek. It's my most anticipated movie of the summer, and I'm not even a Trekkie! I'm a casual fan like you, but in JJ Abrams I trust. LOST is my favorite show so I'm glad to see his movie gettin some love. Can't wait to see it on Friday!!
Hey!!
Damn it! I wish I would have met you there on Sunday! My plane left at 5.. and I was at Fangoria on Saturday. I thought of you though when I won this random DVD called 'Bryan Loves You' and saw your name on the cover... then found out there was a whole bunch of JoBlo'ness going on there. heh! Anywho, I dig your interviews and reviews! Keep on rockin babe! :)
Thanks for the add! You and your reviews rock.

How goes it Mr.Jimmy-o??
How's the new yr treating ya.
Seeing your hairy mug in that new Bloody Valentine trailer just confirmed me for opening weekend.
Thanks for the add dude. Enjoy reading your work on Joblo. Totally agree with most of your top 10 this year, Slumdog Millionaire is a truely brilliant movie.
Yeah mine was pretty quiet too bro hit the theaters to watch Yes Man. I'm pretty excited for it bein 2009 too, I have a feeling this year is gonna kick ass.
A true sign of getting old is not even making it to midnight on New Years Eve!!! my wife went down around 10:30. I made it to 11:40!!! I did my share of damage in the liquor dept. though. I am pretty sure i came close to needing a liver transplant.
How goes it JimmyO? Have a good new years and everything?
"I'm a little bit older, a little bit wiser, a little bit rounder, but still none the wiser."
Have a safe and happy New Year! Coobbrraaaa!!!
Congrats!!! SOTD!! Hope your holiday seasons are going well. Have a good New Year!!
First The Arrow on 12/24, Johnny Moreno on 12/28 and now The Great Jimmy O. One more day left in the year lets see if Mr. Joblo himself gets the last one for ’08. I smell a Schmoe of the Day conspiracy :) Congrats brother. Coobbrrraaa!
Thx bubba! Hope your holidays are easy riding thus far! Give my best to your family and here's to teaching 2009 a lesson...OLD SCHOOL! Love ya bro!
John
I was sort of hoping it wouldn't get a good score. Ever since I saw the trailer I just couldn't shake this feeling of wrongness. This is all aside from being a huge Tom Jane fan. It felt cheesy, like a revamp of an 80s movie. An 80s movie trying to be something more than an 80s movie. I'll still watch it but I'm not too optimistic.
thank you good sir! I have been well, what about yourself? And what is your opinion of War Zone? I'm trying to figure out if I'm being too harsh or not...
I am looking for a picture of just myself that i don't look retarded in for that.
I finally figured out how to get photos on my profile!!

That's kind of a tough one. I like when you get to know them and they remember you. I think my recent favorites are Kate Beckinsale, Channing Tatum and Liam Neeson... actually all the guys from THE GREY were insanely cool. My ALL TIME favorites would probably be Helena Bonham Carter and Colin Farrell:)
I just hope I do the interviews justice:) I like when people feel comfortable enough to chill a little bit.
