So Ive just spent 5 weeks working at an camp for international teens. They have English class in the morning, and in the afternoon the counselors took them around Boston for sight-seeting/shopping/museums/etc. it was pretty awesome. the sad part is, i made some great friends with the counselors (who were all 19-24, even though Im way older than that) and now they've all gone off to college. Plus There was one group of kids (about 88 of them) all from Italy who spend 3 full weeks with us in Boston with an excursion to Niagara Fall/NYC. They left yesterday and I miss them already. I didnt know I could bond with a bunch of teens (some of whom had very VERY basic english skills) in just 3 weeks. They became like my little brothers and sisters. Ive worked at a program similar to this once before. Im writing this to let any of you guys who look for summer jobs to think about working at a similar camp. they have them in most majors US/Canadian cities now, and its really a great summer program to do. Exausting, but fun. I havent had a chance to watch movies or TV (with the exception of FINALLY getting through season 3 of Breaking Bad) this summer. Its so strange to go from having extreme amounts of free time to sit and watch things, to 5 weeks of working/hanging out with people 16-18 hours a day, only to now have to go back to nothing. Its strange to have all these funny stories and random quotes that none of my home friends understand/care about. I miss my camp bubble.
Ps I also learned Im one of those creepy old women who like guys way to young for her. This based on my huge crush on a 21 year old. I felt so dirty when I realized he was a fetus with I had just entered middle school.
