I think it would be great if one day we had a great dvd swap. Get rid of the DVDs you dont watch/have upgraded and exchange them for other dvds. Or Maybe sell to someone who doesnt have anything/anything you want for wicked cheap (like $1-$5) We need to plan something like this.

I have a prediction. My prediction is that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will become my new favorite TV show. Im kind of drooling over the trailer already.

Hey Buffy lasted 7 seasons, so there's still hope. Also, its on ABC, not fox, so we're at least good on that.

I don't think it will be canceled (unless it sucks), they're gonna start with big number which, even if they decline, will have them renewing in the hopes it will pick up something from the first episodes.

Guilty pleasure girly movie of the night-love potion # 9
Johnboy16

Well then call me girly because that is a guilty pleasure of mine as well. The greatest is when Tate Donovan gets revenge on that girl in the bar. Good movie choice for the evening, enjoy.

I just realized this. Ive always known how great this movie is, especially the ending. But tonight I realized its my favorite ending to any movie ive ever seen. Even just watching this 6 minutes I realize just how magical it is. Thank you Jim, for always making me feel something for this movie, no matter how many times Ive seen it. Its a true classic.

Random Mini Series Ive seen

1. The Stand-Based on Kings novel. Its the only Stephen King book to film I can stand. I love his writing, but the movies tend to suck (exception being his short story which turned into Shawshank Redemption) A plague wipes 99.99% of the population and the survivors are left to fight a war against evil. So many great actors in it, and to this day I reference this movie often.10/10
2. The 10th Kingdom-What if fairy tales were real, they just happen to take place in another dimention and young Virginia has just crossed over to this world. But this isnt the happy Disney version, its the original dark version of the tales. The series is actually quite funny and Ed O'Neil as the troll king is great. .10/10
3. Neverland-Explains how Neverland and Peter Pan can to be. One of my favorite versions of the story. 10/10
4. The Pillars of the Earth-Hayley Atwell.Do you need aother reason 9/10
5. Alice- I love Alice in Wonderland, but I just didnt find this to be that interesting. The main girl was boing as hell. Andrew Potts as the mad hatter was the one saving grace of the series. 5/10
6. Tin Man-Again, I love the Wizard of Oz, but this series was too long and boring. Zooey Deschanel was horrible as Dorothy. Alan Cumming however make it tolerable. 4/10
7. It-another of Kings books I love, that made a poor movie. The clown just wasnt scary and the kiddie actors (minus Seth Green) were unwatchable. 4/10
8. Angels in America-I love the play, but it just didnt translate well to film at all. Big mess and WAY to long 3/10

#4 and #7 are the only ones I've seen. I really want to check out The Stand and Neverland. I've never heard of The 10th Kingdom, but it sounds cool...I'll have to check that one out too.

Randon underrated movies you might not have seen, but probably should

1. True Romance-One of the best movies ever. Simple as that. A MUST WATCH 10/10
2. Sunshine-My favorite Danny Boyle movie. Some people dont like the ending, I love it. 10/10
3. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang-RDJ comeback movie. Its pretty awesome 9/10
4. Whip It-Ellen Page as a roller derby girl. Plus Drew Barrymore whom I adore 8/10
5. Go-90's move I love with an adorable young Katie Holmesand a great Sarah Polly. Very funny 8/10
6. 21-Jim Sturgess alone is adorable, but the movie is one I can watch multiple times 8/10
7. Puncture-Chris Evans. Nuf Ced. 7/10
8. Manic-JGL and Zooey before 500 days. Interesting and early proof just how great an actor JGL is 7/10
9. Penelope-Family movie, but Christina Ricci is adorable and its watchable without going overboard on the cheese factor 7/10
10. Happiness-Truthfully, I havent see it in about a decade, but I remember it being good, yet no one knows about it 6/10

Movies that would make great TV shows

The-craft

The Craft- The movie came out 17 years ago. While I love the original movie, I wouldn't want a show with the same characters. Id rather it be something along the lines of Sarah (the main girls) daughter is starting high school and realizing she has the same powers as her mom. I would want it to be similar in that she also has a bunch of friends who are playing around with something they dont really understand. The difference would be Sarah's daughter understands her power as her mom has been open with her about her abilities. Perhaps her friends start off as not such bad kids, but over time as they get further into the magic they dont always do the right thing and it starts to change them for the worse, and Sarah's daughter has to balance it out. Id want the show to be dark with a lot of supernatural stuff and as horror like as you can get for a tv show.

Harry Potter- This is more of a wait 5-10 years thing until the movies have been over a lot more. I would love to see their parents as kids in the first wizarding war. Ive only read 2 of the books, but theers a ton of stuff that didnt make it into the movies, or was just mentioned briefly. I remember reading Goblet of Fire in first chapter they talk a bit about the past and it could have been made into a 1 hour episode if you did it right. Yet in the movie it only takes up a few minutes. Rowling could be on board and help to expand the HP universe.

The Truman Show- Not really sure if this would work, but it would be interesting to find out. It could not only show the main characters POV ( I would want it to be a different person since no one could come close to being as good as Jim in that movie, so lets call our guy....Grant idk whatever. presidents.) The show would have Grant's POV, as well as his family/friend who are really actors and what they are going through, as well as the citizens of the world and how it affects them(maybe the dedicated viewer or the viewer who wants to rebel and has moral issues with the show), as well as the production crew and the decisions they make. On second thought, I think if done well, this could be a fucking awesome show.

What movies do you guys think would make good tv shows? Post your ideas, Im super interested.

Just my random thought.

People get paid 1 of 2 ways. What they are worth, or what they earn. Most people get paid what they are worth. But that way is very subjective. Is a teacher worth 40k? some say thats to high other say that's to low. Most people hear of someone salary and evaluate it based on what they are worth.

Then there's paying someone what they earn. This way is much less subjective. Its based on concrete numbers. If you create a paint a picture, and someone paid 1 mill for that picture, you earned 1 mill, that's a fact, but was your effort worth 1 mill, debatable.

So lets say you earned that 1 mill from the paining. Would you say to yourself, "well I worked hard, but I wasn't curing cancer like my friend the doctor, or teaching kids to read like my neighbor the teacher, so I'm just going to keep 50k (what i'm worth) and chuck the rest of the money in the fireplace." Of course not! you earned that money, even if you are not worth it.

Actors are the same. They created a piece of art and we as the buyer spend lots of money to obtain that art. So is their effort to create a movie millions (maybe, maybe not) but they sure as hell earned it.

Mood: Bored

Anakin
Anakin at 09:49 AM May 08

I dun know. As I said in my earlier post I don't know how movie wages work. I have no idea other from what I read in that deadline article. That said I'm on the fence regarding Avengers 2. I don't see Marvel as some tight big bad. I don't think the actors are being greedy.

Cochise
Cochise at 11:41 AM May 08

some people say a teacher's 40K salary is too low?!

But it's different with actors... it isn't a commission job traditionally, but instead a steady salary based on full participation during the production. Just in recent years it seems more and more and more actors are wanting a percentage of the revenue, or demanding super high salaries.

I mean if we're talking about the artist painting a picture and someone paying 1 million for that picture... then first and foremost the DIRECTOR should be getting paid the most, not the director's actors -- which would be like the artist's paints.

Firefly

When discussing whether or not he'd revive Firefly, Netflix's Ted Sarandos said "Firefly? It’s kind of been done, with Serenity, but yeah as a series. Let me give you one broad statement about these recovery shows. In almost every case the cult around the show gets more intense and smaller as time goes by. Arrested Development was the rarest of birds in that the audience of the show grew larger than the original broadcast audience because people came to discover it years after it was cancelled. The Firefly fan is still the Firefly fan from when it was on TV and there’s fewer of them and they’re more passionate every year. Whereas with Arrested Development we’re going to be serving a multiple of the original audience. Any of the other shows we could bring back would be a fraction of the original audience."

What do you guys think?

Personally I think his statement is flat out wrong. Id say the majority of firefly fans became fans YEARS after the show ended. In many times, years after Serenity came out. If fact the majority of people I know (myself included) didnt even know firefly existed when it was on TV. I believe it's a show whoes audience has only gotten larger after it's cancellation, not smaller.

That being said, I still dont think it could ever be brought back. For 1, the cast is busy doing other things, it's also been a long time (10 years now) and most of us have closure. I wouldnt want to get back into it, only to have it cancelled again in 2 or 3 years.

But the most important reason, it simply because there's no way in hell Joss has the time/energy to get back into it. And no one wants a Firefly without Joss.

He's definitely not wrong about Arrested Development. These cult shows have no where to go but up though. I still don't think firefly is in the same class as AD unfortunately. I'd rather see a sequel to serenity than another set of episodes if anything

Rebellion_Reborn
Rebellion_Reborn at 12:38 PM May 04

I agree. For him to say that the amount of Firefly fans are the same as when it was on the air is ludicrous. Most people didn't even know that show existed when it was on the air because of how badly FOX promoted it(or refused to promote it at all). While I may have been a fan since it actually was on the air, I can't count how many people I've introduced the show to. The amount of Browncoats has only grown over the years.

And I also agree it shouldn't be brought back for all the same reasons that you mentioned. You hit the nail on the head.
