31 Horror Movies 31 Days
Alright ladies and gents I have decided to take a page out of Bill Pullman's (EricW for those of you not in the know) book and watch 31 horror movies in 31 days this October. Now what I need from you guys and ghouls (see what I did there) are some suggestions. I'm not a seasoned vet when it comes to horror and have really only seen a hand full outside of the Freddy/Jason/Myers type shit. So please, anything will help. I will be sure to post mini (2 to 3 words, maybe a full sentence) reviews after I watch each one and all that type of shit. Thanks everyone.
HighI think I'm going to do this too this October! I'm going to make a list, and you can take from me! Start with the beginners, and end with the classics. A couple I'm thinking of right now that you should watch is The Thing, Trick R Treat, Dawn of the Dead (1978), Night of the Living Dead, and any of the Universal Monster Movies are always my favorites!
Here's some to get you started:
Dance of the Dead
Surveillance
Session 9
Zombieland
The Ruins
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
Martyrs
Infection (J-Horror)
Dead Alive (Brain Dead)
Tyson J's suggestions are also fantastic. Especially Dance of the Dead, Behind the Mask, and Dead Alive!!
I definitely will be using some from Tyson. I'm going to try and just do movies I haven't seen before which should lead to some hidden gems. I have seen Dead Alive, Behind The Mask and Zombieland. Also The Thing & Trick R Treat. I'm not sure which of "The Dead" movies I've seen.
Shit yeah, Trick R Treat is a must. Also check that out in Blu-Ray if you can.
Damn fine movies mentioned so far. Here's my 2 cents.
The Evil Dead Trilogy
Night of the Creeps
Night of the Demons(original or the soon to be released remake)
The Blob(1980's remake)
Laid to Rest
Slither
Return of the Living Dead
The Howling(the original, fuck the sequels)
Let the Right One In
An American Werewolf in London
Tales From the Crypt Presents: Demon Knight
Dog Soldiers
The Descent
Candyman
The Exorcist
Drag Me to Hell
Dracula(1979, Frank Langella version)
Hatchet
Hatchet 2(releases in theaters UNRATED Oct 1st)
The Monster Squad
Hellraiser
Hellbound: Hellraiser 2
That's just off the top of my head.
Jacob's Ladder
Session 9
(NOT!) Silent Hill
I'm sure I'll think of more..
'Mr.Magorioums Wonder Imporioum' scared me shitless, but luckily I had already dropped off my load for the day anyway.
That should be fun. I definitely recommend Trick 'R Treat, Inside, The Descent and just maybe to relax and laugh one night Sorority Row.
Every year I do a halloween horror marathon... I've narrowed my choices for this year to these movies
-Inside (A l'interiour)
-Splinter
-Silent Hill
-Hellraiser 2 (I already did Hellraiser)
-The Horde
-The Mist
-Severance
-The Descent
As for which ones have had the best reception?
The Shinning, Carrie, Paranormal Activity, the Evil Dead Trilogy, DEAD ALIVE (Brainded... everyone needs to see this), Feast and of course Shaun of the Dead...
My list...
Roadgames
The Meidnight Meat Train
Wolf Creek
Rogue
Dark Water (Japanese version)
The Eye (Hong Kong version)
The Relic
Near Dark
Inside
[Rec]
[Rec] 2
The Devil's Backbone
The Changling
Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
From Dusk 'Til Dawn
Rosemary's Baby
The Wicker Man (original)
That's all I have at the moment.
This is great, I think I'm gonna do this as well... I was usually dedicating only the Halloween week to watching horror, but shit, 31 films in 31 days sounds to good to pass up.
Now to build the freaking list.
