Silent Films I own on Blu-ray (Yeah, I'm that guy)

Wingsbd
1. Wings (1927) - It was the very first (and until last year only silent) film to win the Best Picture Oscar. The aerial stunts are pretty insane even today and is a true WWI epic.
2. The General (1926) - Buster Keaton hijinks on Blu-ray, there is absolutely no reason not to own this
3. Metropolis (1927) - I picked this up for several reasons; it is fully restored with a huge chunk of recently found lost footage and this brilliant interview with the director Fritz Lang conducted by William Friedkin was in the special features!
4. Modern Times (1936) - It's a Charlie Chaplin masterpiece and his last silent film, that's why!
5. The Battleship Potemkin (1925) - This is a movie full of so much filmmaking innovation it's kind of ridiculous ... and I love it!
6. The Gold Rush (1925) - Because you can never have enough Chaplin on Blu-ray!
7. A Trip to the Moon (1902) - Scorsese and I both love it.
8. The Artist (2011) - I really, really adored this movie

Great list, I really need to watch some of these, I haven't seen very many silent films.

My Favorite Movies By Genre

Duck_soup2
1. Action: Die Hard ... "Come out to the coast, have a few laughs ..."
2. Adventure: Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Alien: Alien
4. Animation: The Iron Giant ... "SUP-AH-MANNNN!"
5. Biography: Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story ... maybe the man is fake but his music ain't!
6. Comedy: Duck Soup
7. Crime: The Godfather
8. Disaster: Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace ... what do you mean that doesn't count!?
9. Documentary: Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse ... it's insane.
10. Drama: Casablanca
11. Epic: Lawrence of Arabia ... "The best of them won't come for money, they'll come for me."
13. Horror: The Excorsist ... still gets to me.
14. Mockumentary: This is Spinal Tap ... it goes to 11.
15. Musical: It's Always Fair Weather ... because Gene Kelly tap dancing is cool, but Gene Kelly tap dancing on roller skates is utterly unbelievable.
16. Romance: The Princess Bride ... "As you wish."
17. Romantic Comedy: I Love You Man ... I guess it's more of a bromantic comedy, but whatever Jobin.
18. Science Fiction: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
19. Sports: The Replacements ... I am compelled to watch it any time it's on tv and it's on tv a lot.
20. Spy: From Russia with Love
21. Stoner: The Big Lebowski
22. Super Hero: The Avengers ... it's THE super hero movie.
23. Thriller: North by Northwest
24. War: A Bridge too Far ... it has Michael Caine AND Gene Hackman! "This is my thesis, man!"
25. Western: The Magnificent Seven ... Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen, 'nuff said!

If I was James Bond, my Bond movie would be:

Bondjakebond
1. Director: I'm not the first to say this but Christopher Nolan; that seen in Inception was straight outta On Her Majesty's Secret Service!
2. Villain: Rachel Weisz; she was rumored to be in Bond 23 before MGM had its financial difficulties a couple years back but I still want to see that movie.
3. Henchmen: Ray Stevenson and Tom Hardy, this time he can leave the mask at home.
4. M: Helen Mirren ... and if I'm being completely honest there would be a good chance of a sexual harassment lawsuit. She's a stone-cold British fox! Don't deny it, you know it to be true.
5. Bond Girl: Emily Blunt ... that's all I have to say about that.
6. Gadget of Choice: I'm a fan of the classics, so an Aston-Martin DB5 with a few optional extras installed would be just fine.
7. Theme Song Artist: How about giving Muse a shot?

Movie Moments

Return_of_the_jedi_ver1
1. First Movie: Return of the Jedi ... I can't remember what the first movie in a theater was but RotJ is the first movie I vividly remember.
2. Last Movie: Expendables 2
3. First Date movie: It might have been The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe ... but I don't remember much about the movie ... [insert winky face here]
4. Last Date movie: The Artist (classy!)
5. Movie I walked out on: I never walk out on movies, for better or worse I'm in it for the long haul.
6. Movie I saw the most: The Avengers ... 5 times in the theater, twice at the local drive-in ... I kinda liked it a lil' bit.
7. One movie I applauded during: I'm not ashamed to admit during the midnight screening of Attack of the Clones I clapped when Yoda whipped out his lightsaber.
8. One movie I cried during: NONE! I'M A MAN DAMN IT!!! Ok fine ... Benji: The Hunted ... stfu, you'd cry to if you've seen it.
9. Movie character I pretend to be the most when I was a kid: Probably Leonardo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
10. Movie car I wish I could drive: According to the precedent set by JohnLocke vs. Automobiles we've established spaceships count right? Then I'd be willing to be the Chewie to his Han, don't worry dude I can fly casual.
11. Movie I saw with the most people: When I was in high school we had to read The Canterbury Tales (Cool and utterly useless tidbit: I can recite the opening stanzas of it in Middle English) and I managed to convince my English teacher to take the class (30-some kids) on a field trip to see A Knights Tale because a character in it is very loosely based on Chaucer. It was the coolest most uneducational fieldtrip ever.
12. Movie that scared me the most: I really don't watch much horror, I blame that on seeing both The Excorcist and The Omen when I was around 11 ... they both still haunt my dreams.
13. Movie I own the most copies of: The original Star Wars trilogy, two VHS box sets (one of which is untainted pre-Special Edition), a DVD box set and now the Blu-rays.
14. Movie I own a bootleg of (if any): The infamous Star Wars Holiday Special, only because it can't be found by legal means ... suck it Lucas!
15. Movie that I saw that I didn't want to see: I took my little cousins to Cars 2 ... that was rough.
16. Movie that I saw by myself that nobody else wanted to see: Knight & Day ... it was actually a very solid flick, could have been better but I had fun. Plus I didn't have to share my Redvines.
17. Movie that hyped me up and met the hype: The Avengers, I thought there was no way it could meet my lofty fanboy expectations ... AND THEN IT EXCEEDED THEM!
18. Movie that hyped me up and let me down: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace ... I was young but I still knew it paled in comparison to the originals.
19. Favorite movie soundtrack: Drive for soundtrack, Last of the Mohicans for score. Cool? Cool.
20. One movie that changed your life: Return of the Jedi, it is my earliest and still fondest memory of film and planted the seed that allowed me to grow into the film fanatic I am today.

2. Bob Hope suffered from a debilitating case of chronic vertigo, so he wore a prosthetic nose to help with his balance.
3. Errol Flynn prepared for his roles in Captain Blood and The Sea Hawk by pillaging schooners off the California coast.
4. Live rounds were used in the filming of Battleship Potemkin ... there were no survivors.
5. John Wayne had an intense fear of horses, anytime one of his characters was on horseback it was really a stunt-double.
6. Myrna Loy once took third place in a Greta Garbo look-a-like competition.
7. All Peter Cushing ever wanted was to be "in like Flynn".
8. Adam West was almost cast as James Bond in Dr. No but had to drop out because of a scheduling conflict.

Cardinal Movie Theater Sins:

Theater_douche
1. Cellphones ... Seriously dude? You have to text during the movie? I'm 8 rows behind you but I see you glowing. You're not being discreet, you're just being a douchenozzle! Turn your sh*t off! No, not on silent! OFF MUTHA'UCKA! Don't make me come down there ...
2. Loud Foodstuffs ... True story time! I was watching Passion of the Christ and the guy next to me was crunching away on nachos whilst Jesus was being whipped, beaten and crucified. Seriously man? Why the hell do theaters even have nachos as an option ... if you really feel like overpaying for food go with something like a hotdog. It may not be Kosher, but it's a hell of a lot more quiet!
3. Heavy Petting ... Good for you bud! You brought a girl to a movie and you could care less about what was going on up on the screen. I fully support your right to have some fun, but did you have to sit in the row in front of me? If you know your going to a movie just to make out do the right thing and sit in the back row. I payed ten bucks to see a show and you weren't it.
4. Bringing Young Kids to an Adult Flick ... If I go to a movie that is in the PG-13 or lower range I anticipate there being young 'uns present. I get that, it's ok. But If I go into something like Watchmen or Your Highness and you brought your 8 year old along because you couldn't find a sitter and they start whining, fidgeting loudly or have to leave for the bathroom every fifteen minutes I'm not going to be okay with that. Hell, just knowing there's a kid in the theater during an explicit scene (sex, violence or whatever) makes me uncomfortable. Way to fail at parenting.
5. Talking ... Hey, as long as the trailers are still playing I'm totally cool about some idle chitchat but when the lights lower and the film proper starts I don't need to hear about "How Jenny is totally cheating on Rick" or "I totally banged this girl last night, I think her name was Jen or Jenny or something". Just shut your piehole! I'm watching a movie.
6. Or worse; Heckling ... No, you're not funny and you sure as hell aren't part of the Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew, maybe you should just stop bringing attention to how ignorant you are. I say this for your own benefit, tool.
7. A Movie You Want to See is Only Available in 3D ... F*ck. That. Sh*t.

If you think this list is bad you should try having a good friend who won't shup up during the entire film. Literally asking you "What just happened there?" mere seconds after seeing it himself. He's a good mate though so I put up with it.

MFC Halloween Survey

Jake_banana
1. What animals are you afraid of? I have grown up around animals all of my life (farm boy) and honestly few big ones genuinely scare me. It is the little ones that band together to take down large prey that you have to keep a wary eye on. In summary: f*ck piranha.
2. Are you afraid of clowns? I heard a joke once ... but seriously, they are pretty creepy.
3. Are you claustrophobic? Only if I am stuck in an elevator with a fat man, if we're stuck there for too long there are only a handful of ways that scenario is ending ... and few of them are in my favor.
4. What urban legends scared you as a kid (or now)? Masturbate and you'll go blinskd2nl3kns4dpbblt
5. Do you have any phobias? You know that feeling you get when you are in public and have to fart but might also crap yourself? Don't know the scientific name for that but I believe the colloquialism is "sharting", and I've had some close calls.
6. What else are you afraid of? That at any given time I could be the victim of this. Not cool, not cool at all.
7. Do you believe in any cryptozoologic creatures? I want to believe.
8. What movies scared you as a kid? First time I saw JURASSIC PARK that scene with the goat leg hitting the windshield. Serious nightmare fuel.
9. What movies scared you as an adult? ZODIAC, gives me the heebie jeebies every time.
10. Favorite Universal Monster? Frankenstein's Monster, so tragic ...
11. Favorite fictional horror villain? The disembodied demonic hand from IDLE HANDS
12. Favorite real life serial killer? Favorite? I don't know if I could say that but I guess I'll go with The Zodiac Killer for the sake of uniformity.
13. Have you ever experienced the paranormal? Nope, but I know who to call if I do!
14. What would you do if you thought your house was haunted? Depends on what kind of haunted, I don't mind chilling with ghosts, spooks or spectres but ghouls? F*ck those guys! I'd get the hell outta Dodge!
15. Are you superstitious? Nope. But I like writing on the wall!

Favorite Movie By Each Bond

Jb_small
1. Sean Connery - From Russia with Love (For my money it's THE perfect Bond flick.)
2. George Lazenby - On Her Majesty's Secret Service (It is actually one of my favorites overall, too bad Lazenby was a twat)
3. Roger Moore - Live and Let Die (Best title song ever? I think so!)
4. Timothy Dalton - License to Kill (Craig owes a lot to Dalton who went with the dark edgy Bond before it was chic)
5. Pierce Brosnan - Goldeneye ('nuff said)
6. Daniel Craig - Casino Royale (This could be the greatest Bond movie ever made, I can't wait to see how it holds up to time.)

6. If (If? They totally will!) They Made A Movie About me it Would Be Called: "The Man Left Standing" or "Riding Shotgun"

MY DREAM MOVIE:

Thegoodearth
1. TITLE: The Good Earth
2. DIRECTOR: Terrance Malick
3. GENRE: Drama
4. ACTRESSES: Amy Adams, Judi Dench (If she can pull off an American accent), Chloe Moretz and Jennifer Lawrence
5. ACTORS: Robert Downey Jr. (Serious RDJ, we're talking CHAPLIN territory here), Martin Sheen and Anton Yelchin
6. COMIC RELIEF: It will be on a family farm, so probably animals and general barnyard shenanigans
7. VILLAIN: Not so much one character as a looming sense of unfulfillment, disenfranchisement and yearning (I know, this is heavy!)
8. T & A: Classy film about family, duty and fate so probably not much in the way of T&A. I never thought I'd say that.
9. SOUNDTRACK: Purely a score, except maybe some ambient radio music or something, but I am thinking a subtle composer like Zbigniew Preisner (LA DOUBLE VIE DE VERONIQUE)
10. HAS TO HAVE: Beautiful cinematography with sprawling landscapes and a rich and diverse cast with the skill to pull off limited dialog

Hardest List on MFC...

Moustache_a_question
1. What's the hardest song that plays in your head during a fight? "Bodies (Let the bodies hit the floor)" by Drowning Pool, or "Peace Train" by the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens if I feel like whimsically beating somebody's ass
2. What are the details of your hardest kiss? It was Valentine's Day, second grade, I was chilling on the playground under the slides when a girl named Melissa did a spider-monkey/spear tackle and laid a big wet one on me. I still feel violated to this day.
3. What's the hardest motion picture you've ever seen? The last Rambo flick, I mean Hole. E. Sh*t!
4. Who is your hardest dream girl? Pam Grier, she'll love you but that in no way should imply she couldn't kick your jive ass up and down 110th Street!
5. What's the hardest game you've ever played? Crotch only Russian roulette with paintball guns. Worst idea ever, but you learn what luck is all about.
6. What was the hardest period of your life? I don't menstruate. I am a dude and that would be weird.
7. How hard do you think you are when walking down the street? Jake don't walk! The world revolves under my feet according to my will, the Earth knows what's up!
8. What's the hardest exercise that you've ever done? I once ran 14 miles just because I had nothing better to do on a Saturday, it would have only been about 5 miles but I got lost ... and badasses don't ask for directions!
9. What's the hardest task you've ever accomplished? Hey, say "Hi." to your mother for me.
10. What's the hardest herb you've ever toked on? Subway, Meatball Marinara on Italian Herbs and Cheese, b*tch!

MFC MEME

Meme
1. First Name (if you're cool with that)? Jake, Jacob or J.R. ... I travel in many circles.
2. Explanation of Your MFC Name? See answer for first question and I think the other half is blatantly obvious ...
3. Movie Character You Can Relate With the Most? John McClane, somedays just feel like you are trapped in a skyscraper full of terrorists with no shoes and only a fat twinkie eating cop for a friend.
4. Most Hated Movie Character? Jar Jar Binks, never make me bring him up again.
5. Boo Radley? More like Tequila Mockingbird (My go-to Beer Pong team name)
6. Do You Know Any Other Schmoes IRL? I know three, none of them are really active on here though which allows me to make a complete ass of myself without fear of direct ridicule.
7. How Long Have You Been On MFC? Since it's inception. Do you remember MyJoBlo? Because I do!
8. How Did You Hear About MFC? How could I not?! This is the place to be!
9. Where Was Your Profile Pic Taken? Dagobah during my Jedi Trials with Master Yoda. Interesting note, if you get him drunk enough he actually forms grammatically correct sentences.
10. Favorite Animated Character? Batman, because he is the God damned Batman.
11. Favorite Robot? THIS ONE!!!
12. Favorite Dinosaur? Velicoraptors, clever girls ...
13. Have You Ever Written A Screenplay? Yes, if it ever sees the light of day is another question entirely.
14. What Movie Would You Live In If You Could? GROUNDHOG'S DAY, I could deal with that sh*t indefinitely just imagine the epic ways to end your day!
15. Ever Meet A Celebrity? Yes, I have in fact shook Adam West's (BATMAN!!!) hand, he hails from my hometown.
16. Dont You Think It's Fucking Obnoxious That Those Little Shit Kids Always Try And Take Lucky's Lucky Charms? Yes, but I find it more insulting that the Cookie Crisp's mascot got changed from a lovable obese dog to a skinny wolf, stupid health marketing ...
17. What Picture Are You Attaching To This? A MEme of course!!!
18. (this isnt the most original idea, but I havent seen one on MFC, so shut up) <-I couldn't have said it better myself.

10 Ball-Crushingly Manly Things About Me

Bruce_lee
1. I have a dick. Aforementioned dick comes complete with pair of balls. Hairy, hairy balls.
2. Born and raised on a working farm. I can get up early and get sh*t done! Machinery maintainance, livestock, seeding, harvesting and you bet your God fearing ass I can lay some pipe(Not just the irrigation kind either, ladies)!
3. I only drink two kinds of alcohol, lagers and throat burning whiskey ... there is almost no room for compromise.
4. I can spit, far. I'll even do it into the wind because I just can't be bothered to give a rat's ass!
5. My eye's teared up watching 'Old Yeller'. Teared up mind you, not a single actual tear.
6. I have a glorious mane, it is all natural and unadulterated by sissy-man considerations called "product". Whatever the hell that is supposed to be!
7. I once stared down a charging bull, I was 7 years old at the time. I don't think I need to tell you which one is still among the living and which one ended up ground beef.
8. Sam Elliott and I run a joint cattle ranch operation out of Northern Montana. We mainly just drink and look for excuses to shoot at other men. In fact, we pay people to attempt to rustle our cattle. So far haven't lost a solitary head.
9. I, on a whim, single handedly brought back the phrase "Where's the beef?" Just to prove that I could. You're welcome!
10. I have shaken Adam West's hand. Any of you other men out there who have accomplished this act know exactly what I am talking about.
11. That's right, I am so manly that this list had to go all the way to 11 to contain my testocerone!

5. '' MYSTERY TEAM '' - The boys from Derrick Comedy fight sex, drugs and swear words. Hilarity ensues! (8/10)
6. '' M '' The Fritz Lange classic stars the exceptionally creepy Peter Lorre as a kid strangler who wants to be stopped. Chills. (9/10)

Acceptable Movies For Real Men To Cry Too:

Man-crying
1. Old Yeller: Call me old fashioned/cliche but it is true.
2. Brian's Song: Leave it to tough guy James Caan to bring on the waterworks.
3. Legends of the Fall: Just a series of brutal, heartbreaking scenes.
4. Benji the Hunted: Poor little dog has so much heart, does he return to his owner or does he stay and protect the orphan cubs?
5. Top Gun: Goose dies in a goodness, gracious great ball of fire. (Not really, but I couldn't resist the reference.)
6. My Dog Skip: Going away to college and then getting a phone call that your best childhood friend passed away is brutal, so what if it is a dog?! This recently happened to me, sad times.
7. Million Dollar Baby: If a hardened badass like Clint Eastwood cries you better cry, otherwise he might mistake that for a challenge. Clint would end you.
8. Mr. Holland's Opus: When he breaks down and cries take that as a signal that you can join in.
9. The Green Mile: How can something so pure can be misconstrued as so evil.
10. Twilight: So you went to see one of the Twilight movies with your girlfriend, you better be crying because you just go castrated.
