I believe that love that is true and real creates a respite from death. All cowardice comes from not loving or not loving well, which is the same thing and when the man that is brave and true looks death squarely in the face, like some rhino hunters I know, or Belmonte who is truly brave, it is because they love with sufficient passion to push death out of their minds, until it returns, as it does, to all men and then you must make really good love again...Think about it.

When I think of all the movies of past that were not even considered for Oscar recognition, one film that immediatley comes to mind is 2005's THE INTERPRETER. This was the late, great director/actor Sydney Pollack's final directorial effort and it contains a superlative acting duo in Sean Penn & Nicole Kidman. Filled with smartly written dialogues dealing with conspiracy, racism, and grief, the movie achieves great things in it's 2 hour runtime. This conversation between Kidman's interpreter and Penn's government agent investigating her, is the crux the movie and impossible to resist in it's understated gravitas.
This clip makes a very good point about forgiveness. It speaks wisely about letting go of grief in a positive way rather than through being desirous of, or actually committing acts vengeance. If you've never seen this movie, please put it in your Netflix queue ASAP.
