LOVE this movie. My favorite football movie of all time. Lattimer is an all-time awesome football character! I think Craig Schaefer should've been a big star...not sure what happened in that guy's career. He is a poor-mans Josh Brolin. Good work pointing this movie out.
Yeah, last time I saw Schaefer was a few years back in a direct to DVD Hellraiser flick. It made me sad.
This is what made me sit up and notice Omar Epps. Since this film, I'll watch anything he does. Fantastic actor.
If anyone can find me a copy of this film with the laying in the street scene still in tact I will honestly kill for it.
Last time I saw Scahefer was in a sequel to Wes Craven's Dracula 2000, which co-starred Omar Epps... weird little cast triangle type thing.
The Program is fucking excellent though...
Time to put the women and children to bed and go looking for fucking dinner.
Oh man this movie was the shit when it came out! All that lay down on the highway under pressure controversy just made it cooler! Shit those wer gud times man!

FORGOTTEN GEM #6: THE PROGRAM
Naturally my love of football makes this a classic, but it's more than that. There's more than a couple special things going on in this film, but I suppose I feel for Joe because I too was a quarterback in High School. Also, I saw this baby in theaters (the original cut), before they took out the "street scene" where the boys were laying in the middle of the road with cars rushing by as mental training. A couple kids tried that after watching the film and got killed so they took it out when it got released on video.
